Pay day had finally arrived. Her stresses of being unable to afford enough food or save on her heating bill should had unravelled but they lingered like a weed that regrew every time she tugged it from her garden. Like the previous week, she took to the shops on Saturday and loaded bags with unnecessary dresses and shoes and accessories. Anything that looked pretty came home with her, and after unpacking the new commodities she was stress-free for the remainder of the day. The next morning she woke with a groan, a headache already forming at the thought of how she was going to afford tomorrow’s lunch.
