Nosce Te Ipsum

one|one

I never thought this would happen to me, an incident that would test the stand I had and the lessons I have learned my entire life.

To do the right thing would mean death, if not mine then my mother’s.

To do the opposite would mean freedom, except for my conscience that would eat me up until my last breath.

As I stare, straight and blank against the barrel of the gun that was pointed right between my eyes, I think about it deeply. What would I do?

know thyself I breathe as they wait.

“Shoot me.”

And they do.
