Hear Your Heart

20: Upset & Understanding

“Delilah” Olivia breathed “As in…?”

“Yes” Iker replied stiffly, his dark eyes scanning his girlfriend’s frame. He could see that she was caught off guard, her shaky voice and wide blue eyes were a giveaway, but he didn’t quite know what to do. Delilah was clearly there with someone, she couldn’t have gotten in otherwise, and he didn’t want to cause some sort of scene. He’d had enough of the attention being fixed on him and Olivia. Shifting in his seat, he offered Olivia a little look before he turned to Delilah. “What are you doing here Delilah?” he posed.

“I am on a date” Delilah replied happily, her eyes taking a small look at the brunette who sat beside Iker. She recognized her, Iker had had the brunette’s picture saved as his screensaver on his phone the night that they had slept together, and she was a little amazed to still see her around. There weren’t many girls who could get over what Iker had done to her. “As are you it appears. This must your beautiful girlfriend” she enthused, earning a slight look from Olivia who’s eyes had been quick to drop to her feet.

“This is Oli, the love of my life” Iker enthused, his voice slightly firm. He didn’t want Delilah around, he wanted her as far away as she could get, and he wasn’t going to give her a shot to upset Olivia. Until the blonde girl had appeared, Olivia had actually looked like she was enjoying herself, something which Iker had missed.

Delilah nodded her head. “She’s very beautiful, Iker” she commented “You’re a lucky guy” she added.

Iker nodded his head and moved to grip Olivia’s hand, but the brunette was quicker than him, tensing her hand in her lap so that he couldn’t get a grip on it. Iker frowned at the action, but dismissed it, not wanting to draw attention to them. “Wh…Who are you here with, Delilah?” he posed gently.

Delilah smiled. “I believe you know him. His name is Cristiano and we’ve been seeing each other for about 3 months now” she mused.

Iker sighed. “That means you’re sitting with us” he murmured, his dark eyes shifting to the pair of empty seats that stood opposite him and Olivia.

Delilah grinned. “That’s fantastic. I’ll go and find Cristiano and then you and I can have a catch up. It’s been over a year now” she enthused before she tottered away, leaving Iker alone with Olivia.

“Querida, I swear I had no idea that she would be here. I didn’t know Cristiano had another girlfriend, let alone that it was Delilah” he mumbled, trying to decipher the odd look which had appeared on Olivia’s features. She looked hurt, upset, but most of all, she looked a little overwhelmed, like she was going to cry at any moment. “Olivia, you have to believe me” he added.

“I need air” Olivia replied, shaking her head gently as she moved to get out of her seat.

“Oli…”

“Just let me go, Iker” Olivia interjected sharply “I need some air OK?” she added a little more calmly.

Iker sighed. “Fine” he mused “But if you’re not back in 10 minutes, I am coming to look for you” he added “I am sorry that she is here, Oli” he murmured.

“I am too” Olivia muttered before she skittered away, leaving Iker watching after her, cursing Delilah for showing up when she had. Things had been good, almost perfect even, and Iker hated that Delilah had ruined it, even if she hadn’t done it on purpose. He doubted that Olivia would be OK after a night with him and the girl who had helped him to mess up their relationship.

Resting her head back against the windscreen of Iker’s car, Olivia sighed a little, her mind whirring at the thought of Iker and Delilah. She could see why he was attracted to her, Delilah was stunning and in Olivia’s mind, it made sense, but still she couldn’t will herself to be in the same room as the blonde girl, let alone sit at the same table and pretend that she wasn’t the girl who Iker had fallen into bed with. It was still tough, accepting that Iker had made the mistake he had, and being near Delilah had only served to make Olivia angry all over again. She was working on forgetting, she was working on forgiving, and being near Delilah merely wanted to make her lash out. She wanted to hurt the blonde girl and for Olivia, that wasn’t a pleasant thought.

“I bought you some food”

Olivia looked up at the sound of Iker’s voice and sighed. “How long have I been out here?” she posed.

“Long enough that I have managed to eat a starter and a main course. It only took me so long to come and find you because Sergio kept insisting that you needed space. I snuck off when he went to the bathroom” Iker explained, moving to sit on the car beside her “Do you want to talk about it?” he posed, setting the plate of food into her lap.

“I want to hit her, Iker” Olivia murmured, picking at the food he had bought out to her “She was so nonchalant, so smug, and it took all of my restraint not to hit her. She’s stunning too, which doesn’t help” she murmured.

“She’s not more beautiful than you, Oli” Iker mused.

Olivia scoffed, something which made Iker shake his head. “She isn’t more beautiful than you, Oli. You’re stunning and it is a little bit of the reason I bought you here tonight. I want to show off the beautiful girl that I am lucky enough to call my own. Delilah was a mistake, the biggest mistake of my life because being with her cost me being with you and Thiago, and I will never see her as anything more than that. I only want you, Oli, and I had hoped that by now you’d know that” he explained softly.

“I do know that” Olivia whispered “But that doesn’t mean I can’t worry. I have my insecurities Iker, and seeing Delilah…”

“Now you know how I felt when I saw those pictures of you and Juan” Iker interjected “Like the world would make more sense if you and he were together and I just stepped back. It’s a terrible feeling” he murmured.

Olivia sighed. “I’m sorry” she murmured.

“For what?” Iker posed gently.

“For making you feel like that” Olivia mused “Having that feeling now makes me realize, to an extent at least, how you could do what you did” she added.

“It’s not excuse for what I did, Olivia” Iker murmured as he moved to place his arm around her shoulder, pulling her a fraction closer “I was drinking and that amplified the way I felt, but I am glad you can understand a little. I just want to have things the way they were before” he explained.

Olivia nodded her head and turned into his embrace, her arm gently wrapping around his waist. “I missed us” she murmured.

Iker smiled and kissed the top of her head. “We’ll get us back, Oli” he promised gently “But until then, would you like to come inside and dance with me?” he mused, looking down into her eyes.

Olivia blushed and nodded her head. “I think I would love that” she mused.
