Deep Space

There are few people who can explain the crushing loneliness that accompanies space travel. The sense of being completely alone in the universe engulfs you until you can no longer feel, a mindless drone with no conceivable thoughts or feelings. Even with two other people accompanying you, there is a sense that you are simply left there, floating mindlessly around stars and matter in a surgically-refined tin can.

Worst of all, the transmissions have stopped. Three months into their research, they have been abandoned. No noise from the United Worlds Council. Not even a burst of static through the radio to let them know that someone back home is looking out for them or even trying to get into contact. Zilch.

Complete abandonment in the wastelands of deep space.
