The Chase
"I won't thank me yet." He whispered the sicken girn on his lips
"You are going to kill me now?" I asked
"Run." He said "you have till the count of 100."
I backed away from him.
"One."
I flew out the door. I ran. I needed a safe place. I glanced around. Spying an old, tall tree I began to climb. It was easy for me but I knew anyone else would have a hard time. I reached as high as I dare to go, hidden in the branches.
I heard footsteps on the fallen leaves below me. Holding my breath I glanced down. It was Tae-soo.
"This is a hard tree to climb little Kira." I heard him say
He looked up and grinned.
Please don't be able to climb it. Please.
"So you are a professional killer?" I asked
"Making a conversation?" He asked amused
"Well I'm in a tree with a guy who is trying to kill me hoping that he can't climb it." I said lending back against the trunk
"So you are making a conversation with your killer?" He asked tilling his head to the side
"Why not?" I shrugged. "You know sitting here thinking, I am not afraid of you but I don't want to die. I finally got away."
"Oh? How will you survive?" He asked
An idea popped into my head. It was stupid but what else do I have.
He started climbing.
When he reached half way up I jumped. Rolling once I hit the ground. Not wasting time I was up and running.
