Beggin' DeVito's Story

-Fifteen-

Tommy thought of their first night in Jersey as a success, Frankie settled almost immediately in to his nursery, leaving the two the evening to unpack their possessions and make their mark on the place, they sat on the large sofa that night with a large glass of red each,

"It's quiet"

Renee mused, thinking of the hustle and bustle of Vegas,

"It can be wait until Nicky starts coming over you'll miss the peace"

The following morning Tommy stood in front of the mirror staring himself down nerves gnawing at his insides this was the first time he had seen any of his band mates in over a year, He jumped as a pair of slender arms snaked around his waist, Renee rested her chin on his shoulder looking at him in the mirror her hair, a loose dark mass of long curls tickled his arm, he put his hands over hers,

"What?"

He questioned, making eye contact with her reflection,

"Are you going to get a shirt on?"

"Eventually" he sighed

"What's up?"

"Nothing, just nerves I guess haven't seen these guys in a while didn't exactly leave on good terms"

she squeezed him a little tighter placing her cheek against his shoulder blade

"You've changed a lot since then, they'll see you as a husband and father now they'll respect that"

"I was a prick"

"And they're forgiving"

Tommy sighed and nuzzled his face in to hers, trying to find a sense of calm, he patted her hands and finished getting dressed.

They walked up to the door, she glanced at him trying to read his expression, he balanced baby Frankie on her hip, almost expertly maintaining balance on her heels as Tommy knocked on the door gingerly, he shuffled from foot to foot putting his arm around her shoulders, they could hear muffled movement and voices from behind the door, she heard him take a sharp breath in as the door handle clanged making the door swing open,

"Ayy! Tomooch!!"

The tall dark haired man smiled pulling his friend in to a tight hug,

"Machooch!" Tommy smiled back "Good to see you buddy!"

"You too! this must be Renee!"

She smiled at him letting Tommy speak for her,

"Yeah Yeah this is my wife and my son, Renee this is my best friend Nicky"

Nick grinned at him as if he were waiting for the punchline,

"Come in guys the fellas are in the lounge trying to write, it's getting boring and fast!"

They followed him in Tommy still holding Renee's hand as if it were a life line stopping him from getting out of his depth, they walked in to the large front room, sat on two opposing leather couches were Frankie and another younger man, she looked around at the lavish surroundings and photos of the group, the two men looked up, Frankie smiling instantly,

"Tommy! Renee!"

"Hey Frankie"

She smiled at him, Bob stood from the sofa,

"Hey whos this little guy?" He cooed tickling the baby's chin "may I?"

He asked holding his hands out,

"Of course"

Renee replied handing her son over,

"Since when has he been the baby whisperer?"

Tommy asked signalling to Bob who was now talking to baby Frankie, his face fixed with a grin,

"His wifes pregnant" Nick replied "He's beyond excited but we've warned him, it's all good now wait until the little bundle of joy wakes you up at three am cause it's hungry"

"What's his name?"

Bob asked eagerly,

"Francesco"

Renee replied

"After little brother" Tommy smiled at Frankie "Francesco Robert Nicholas DeVito"

The men exchanged sincere smiled

"Thats sweet of you Tommy" Bob smiled "After it all you're not as much of an ass"

"Gee thanks genius"

"Well look at you" Nick interrupted "You were a party animal a gambling addict a thief a womanizer and had a real violent temper, but look you're married you got a sprog and you're looking healthy"

Tommy smiled and looked down,

"I think I needed the time away, I owe a lot to Renee though, she saved my life"

He grabbed her hand and smiled at her bringing a blush across her cheeks and making her heart pound against her rib cage,

"Maybe Vegas is what you needed Tommy"

Frankie stated bluntly

"And it is kinda nice to have you back"

Bob said taking his attention away from the baby for a few seconds before snapping back in to making baby talk and poking his little belly, making the baby roar with laughter.

A warmth spread through Tommy's body as he looked around the room and smiled to himself, he was home.
