The Fair

Hero

The whole of Sestus could hear the pained cries of Hero as they mixed in with crashing waves. Even cross the Hellespont through Abydus could her breaking heart be felt. Oh Gods, it had to be some sick joke; a dream. Was this how Persephone felt whilst Adonis proclaimed his love for Aphrodite? No. Surely no pain could rival that of seeing your lover's eyes gloss over, unfixed and empty.

Such a sign this was. For so long she had gone about, a priestess to the Goddess of Love, without ever knowing love. Now her love was lost just as soon as she had found it - clearly bound to continue on, loveless in the world of love. Streaks of grey faded through the hues of blue, much like the sorrow that Hero had been overcome with. "I love you." A smile through tears as her fingers brushed his face, one arm clutching at him with all her might.

It was then that she was blank.

It was then that she meandered through the stairwell and to the topmost tip of the tower and leapt, rocks and rolls of ocean staring up to meet her already blank gaze.

"Goodbye, sweet Leander."
