Move With Me

Two

The dull light peeking through the gray curtains, made me wanted to face the other way and stay in bed all day. I glanced at my phone resting on the right side of my head. Today was October Second. Especially on this particular day. I still remember when we got the call. Mom was in the kitchen putting the final details on your cake, while I was wrapping your present. Both of us waiting for you to come home. Little did we know you were already dead. I shut my eyes at the memory of mom’s brutal screams. Brushing my black hair out of my face I hastily get up and walk out into the hall, stopping by your room. For a moment I stand there looking at the wooden door that has been closed since for well over a year. I put my hand on the door knob. Hoping one day I’ll have the courage to open it and walk into your room once again. But not today. I whisper “Happy Birthday Jess” before removing my hand and continuing on down the narrow hallway.
