The Sweetest Taboo

1 | the most high

Throughout the centuries they were known by many names, either in the form of adoration or absolute fear. However, imbeciles were never a word in association with The Volturi. Yet here they stand before them youngling’s wanting to test them as if the latter was so.
He was dismayed to believe that this was the boy that his dear friend Carlisle flooded praise upon as though the child was Apollo himself.
Neither was he impress nor saw the raptures that the boy father figure was delusion to see in the little mind reader. The boy was so caught up in the ideal of being the Byronic hero in his own twisted version of a romantic story—that he wasn’t understanding the depth of the dangerous situation he and his associates were in.
Just KnowThe gods will simply have to excuse him if he basks in the amusement when Jane gave their friend a mere taste of their power. For Aro was not a deliberate cruel man; however, when challenged, he was a dangerous man.
The boy withered on the floors grasping in pain, a smirk graced his features at the sight.
Caius amusement was apparent by his low dark chuckle.
Marcus disregarded the scene all together.
He was enjoying himself immensely at the diversion until an annoying shrieking interrupted him. The infuriating sound was coming from Edward’s pet, Isabella.
“No, please-please-please,” she chanted, clutching herself with a desperation so raw and genuine that it caught his attention. The poor thing had no idea what her foolish lover had just brought her into. Aro sighed, as much as he loves the theatrics, he knew business was first and his amusement was satisfied enough for the day. Now was the time to discover the extent to the girl’s shield—for he was definitely not impress with her either.
“Jane dear,” he called softly, beckoning his weapon’s attention, “the girl?”
Dutifully, Jane gazed lifted from Edward’s towards Bella, with a malicious smile at the prospect of hurting another, “Pain.”
The girl cringe—awaiting the pain to be inflected upon her.
There was nothing.
The malicious smirk was replaced by a fierce frown as everyone was shocked at the sight before them. The silence was broken at the melodic laugh that came from Aro.
Jane was embarrassed, thus her anger moved her towards the feeble human. Only to be stopped by Aro’s small gesture.
Standing gracefully with hands clasped together and a smirk upon his lips. The impression of him was like a child during the holiday seasons waiting for gifts and goodies of all sorts.
“Remarkable! Young Isabelle confounds us all!” tilting his head as if contemplating a decision, “What do we do with you now?”
Seemingly bored of this whole situation, Marcus answered the unspoken question, “You already know what you’ll do, Aro.”
Never one to be upstaged, Caius inserted his opinion, “She knows too much; she’s a liability.”
He sighs forlornly, “That’s true…unless Edward intends to give her immortality…” Aro trailed off expectantly looking towards Edward. His whole aura revealed as much; the boys actions lowered his regard of the young vampire even more. He was curious of this strange attraction the foolish immortal had for the girl. For this was not like the ones that he had seen before. Unfortunately, his judgement was made and so there was no purpose to think about it further.
“Shame, such a waste. Felix, kill the girl than the boy and his sister,” Aro dismissed with a small gesture of his hand.
Ominously Felix moved towards his prey as Edward shifted ready to fight for his love.
The tension was suffocating as a battle was in the works; however, the mood altered as a smooth voice vibrated throughout the room. It held a deep harmonic rasp with a strong energetic evocative tone commanding the attention of the room. In the ears of the three Volturi leaders it was divine.
“Isabella Marie Swan nee Cullen, if Eddie grows the balls to voice the BIG question,” a low sultry chuckle rang forth, as all eyes rested upon a human woman entering the room.
Her complexion could easily be compared to caramelized brown sugar that glow with a radiance of the sun. The divine scent of spices and Jasmine was entrancing to every single immortal thirst in the room. Her features and figure were not that of the classical beauty that most immortal women in the castle possessed—hers was striking and sensual.
High cheekbones with a slight pointed chin that held a regal characteristic, yet it was the entrancing emerald almond shape eyes that made her by far one of the most gorgeous humans they’ve seen. Her ebony hair was pulled into a tight bun on top of her head. The figure-hugging orange wrap dress molded her curves perfectly while showing off her long stunning legs. Her arms swung with the motion to the tempo of her steps.
She walked with a confidence and style that was equal to any immortal. The sight of such a woman was off putting to the Cullen’s and Bella.
“Preferably Bella, born on September 13,1987…oh,” Aaliyah cooed.
“Someone just had a birthday—didn’t turn out so well though hmm—with Jasper trying to drink yah dry huh,” she tasked.
“How’d you kno- “Bella was effectively cut off, the presence of this woman, was slightly suffocating on the weak.
“As I was saying, age 18—so very young to be in such a mess. Place of origins Forks Washington—dreary place really. Father name is Charlie Swan, chief of police and very single. Mother’s name Renee Dwyer remarried to some washup baseball player. Parents married young due to an unplanned pregnancy…”
She stopped and looked at Bella, smirking slightly, “You’re going to have a very eventful year by the way.”
“All in all, Bella Swan has lived a mundane existence to have grown up to become a subordinate selfish moron whose been drawn into a situation that’s way beyond her comprehension and control by a very manipulative narcissistic little sheep boy. In other words, I’m fully in agreement with Caius about getting rid of the problem translation you…”
“Thank you my dear…now Felix,”
“But.”
Aro stopped Felix in mid-step.
“But every action has a reaction. This reaction will cause more of a headache and a hinderance---something that we definitely do not need at this moment,” by this time, she was standing beside Aro, starring uninterestingly at the three before her.
Aro clutched her hand within his as her thoughts came to him in waves. Considering the effects that his actions would cause if he washes his hands of these three—it wasn’t pretty at all yet rather annoying.
Loyalty, Aro thought, highly overrated.
With a smile that may have been the only genuine one throughout this whole ordeal he turned to her.
“Thank you dearest,” he said as he let go of her hand rather reluctantly, he proceeded to turn his attention to the two immortals and human.
“It seems like dearest Liyah has informed me of some rather interesting information. Due to this your lives will be spared—for now. I suggest you show gratitude,” he spoke in a soft tone even though the warning was quite clear.
There was no doubt in their mind that they had an option of showing gratitude.
“Thank you, Ms. Aaliyah, for speaking on our behalf,” Edward, the ever-present gentleman bows slightly.
It sounded sincere to the untrained ears; however, Aaliyah and the rest of the guards there took note of the bitter and disrespectful air of his words.
“We are grateful Aaliyah,” Alice said with a joyous smile on her face.
Aaliyah rolled her eyes at the so-called seer.
Just as Bella began to voice her appreciation she was silenced. The timid girl was slightly put off by the woman’s demanding attitude. She notices that the girl who seemed just as human as her was held in the same high esteem as the vampire kings. This upset her, she was a shield or at least that’s what she had been told. Edward told her she was supposed to be powerful, important, and special.
Here stood Aro, the supposed collector of gifts, order her execution within the blink of an eye. She was completely baffled because in contrast Aro was treating this other woman as if she was the most high. This sparked jealously within Bella and Aaliyah cutting her off made it no better.
“I’ve had enough fake appreciation today—try not to make me regret it.”
She was not a malicious person—she was not a person to show fake kindness to anyone especially those who rubbed her the wrong way. She did not know the Cullen’s or the patriarch of the coven that was Aro’s friend; however, the gross entitlement and self-righteous air of that wonder boy was off-putting. Nevertheless, it was a simple reason for her animosity—THEY BROKE THE LAW.
The law states no human should know of the existents of vampires (Aaliyah was an exception but not the rule) that any human that knows of the vampire’s existents must be killed or turned.
Isabella was neither.
As far as she was concerned if the mind reader wanted something to keep his cold-skin-warm at night more power to him. It was the fact that he thought his family was above the law on the simple matter that they only drunk animal blood and had humanity. These were her thoughts, and it fueled her irritation.
Aro’s small chuckled broke the tense air, “Liyah, my darling, play nice. Little Edward and Alice you may take your human and leave—but wait until dark before you depart for obvious reasons.”
“It was indeed an interesting meeting I bid you safe departure,” Marcus added in his slow measured tone; however, there was shockingly small twinkle in his eyes only present with Aaliyah attendance.
His manner felt jovial contrast to his unbothered attitude earlier.
“Aaliyah’s grace should not be disrespected. I expect the human to be turned within a month’s time for the Volturi do not offer second chances,” Caius hissed, a vicious smirk on his face as Bella flinched at the snarled words.
The Cullen’s left through the doors with hurried strides—Bella squashed between the two in a false act of protection.
“Goodbye my friends,” Aro called tittering slightly.
“Seriously Aro,” she sighed, shaking her head as she proceeded to leave the room as well. This whole interaction had pushed back her work schedule and she needed to play catchup. After all, she had to go over the work that Gianna useless self still was unable to accomplish over a year with being employed. Aro’s arm shot out hooking her elbow causing her to turn.
“And where do you think you’re going?” Caius asked, suddenly appearing in front of her, his condescending smirk gone replaced by his less condescending smirk.
“To set your assistant straight! She’s been making too many mistakes and I’m tired of doing her work and mines,” Aaliyah huffed, pulling a little more insistently from Aro.
“Poor Aaliyah,” Caius cooed mockingly, “Would you like me to eat her?”
“That’s a little over the top don’t you think?” Aaliyah countered before walking out of the throne room in a hurry before the Volturi Kings got in too much of a playful mood.
She was almost out the door before she heard Aro call, “Hurry back dear, we have much to discuss.”
Aaliyah couldn’t help but to shack her head while closing the door behind her.
The sight before her could be considered comical how the two vampires’ seat-in-between the girl taking the place more like guard dogs then anything.
She had turned her attention to Gianna, who seat at her desk lusting at the boy who was currently talking to his girlfriend. Her eyes landed on the paperwork that look as if she didn’t bother to do it.
Aaliyah was already irritated…this was simply the icing on the cake.
“This is the reason why you can’t get your work done? While you’re thirsting after him your work have yet to be done! I advise you to get to working on it without any mistakes! I’m not going to do your work and mines,” she spoke to Gianna.
“I-I-I’m…” Gianna was cut off by the very voice that Aaliyah did not wish to hear.
“You shouldn’t speak to her in such away after all—” Edward was cut off.
“Mind your business! I think Bella have a thought process that she needs your help in figuring out,” she said coldly dismissing him altogether.
“I want this done today,” as she walked away.
“Wait!” came the sound of Bella Swan.
Aaliyah couldn’t help but found it amusing that when the girl stood up so did the other two.
“Yes?” her eyebrow raised questioningly, at the timid girl before her.
“Why are you so nasty?” she looked at Aaliyah with such dislike that the other woman could care less.
“I simply do not like incompetence,” she looked over the girl before her.
“You don’t even know me—”
“You’re right. I don’t know you but from what I’ve seen of you—you are a very inconsiderate person being played by a manipulative man-child.,” as she once again attempted to walk away.
“How do you know all this?” came the bell like voice of Alice
Aaliyah turn to them with a warm and confident smile.
“I simply know,” and with that she went about her business.
