The Final Goal

Chapter 20

The win against Detroit was amazing. Malkin had not returned by then, so the Penguins were forced to win without him. Fleury had stayed positive, quite sure that the Penguins could win after the loss against the Panthers. The team wanted to prove themselves and it was extremely obvious to Skylar. Walking into the locker room and looking at the guys' faces, Skylar could see the hunger and determination in their eyes. She knew in her heart that this team would fight until the end.

Unfortunately for the Penguins, Malkin was unavailable to them yet again for their game against the Lightning. The game wasn't a downright disaster, but Skylar had a feeling, as she sat down in her usual seat, that the Penguins wouldn't come out on top. One thing that she found interesting during the game was when Letang got hit by a Lightning player, his stick falling to the ice. Letang was obviously not happy, so he went up to the guy and stole his stick, continuing to play with it. This was unfortunately a power play for Tampa, but definitely funny to see.

Skylar asked Letang about it the next day in the locker room and he just shrugged.
"I needed a stick."
She laughed at Letang's skewed logic just as Fleury came over. "What's so funny?" he asked, slipping an arm around Skylar's waist. "Nothing," she said, eyes still sparkling with laughter. "C'mon go practice!" she said, pushing Fleury away from her and shooing him onto the ice.

Fortunately, Malkin finally returned for the game on February 29th against the Winnipeg Jets. The game ended on a positive note as the Penguins got another win that was much needed after the horrible lost in Boston. That game was definitely cringe worthy.

The trade deadline came fast and Skylar was slightly worried, but was soon relieved to find that no major changes would be made to her beloved team. Skylar wondered what it would be like to live like some of these players do, wondering if they will be traded at the last minute. She was sure it would be a terrible few days of not knowing.

Plotnikov was traded to Arizona, which was kind of funny to Skylar when she thought about it because the Pens were playing Arizona Monday night. That night was mind blowing as Fleury got another shutout, winning 6-0. Skylar and Fleury didn't get a chance to celebrate much that night, since they were playing again the next day. Instead, Skylar said quick goodbyes to Fleury and her brother, wishing them luck against the Capitals.

Her luck didn't do much for them Skylar found out, when they lost the following night in Washington. The Penguins played well and Skylar prayed their strong effort would bring them a win against the dreaded Rangers on Thursday.

The days seemed to pass by slowly, but Thursday's game came quickly. Skylar was in her place behind Fleury's net, watching the intense game in front of her. Lundqvist was right in front of her during the second period, so Skylar got to see his little temper tantrum up close. His own guy ran him and over and the ref didn't stop play, but he shouldn't have flipped out like that.

The other players are forced to stay on the ice when they are hurt, so why should goalies be held to a different or higher standard? Watching "The King" flip out like that was a priceless moment and Skylar was definitely happy he did. The Penguins got a power play because of his idiotic actions.

After the Penguins won the game, Skylar was in the locker room with Fleury when he got asked if he would ever push over his net to get a stoppage of play.
"Not really because that's a penalty and it's illegal.. so I wouldn't do that."

Skylar personally thinks Fleury would never do that because of his personality. She doesn't think he is capable of losing his cool like that. When asked what his thoughts were, Skylar almost laughed.

"Well I won't tell you my real thoughts, but we got a power play."

Skylar had to bite her tongue to keep herself from laughing. She could only imagine what thoughts he had about Lundqvist's childish behavior.

Once Fleury was done, she walked out of the arena with him and Patric, talking about the game. "I cannot believe he just flipped over the net like that!" Skylar said, still not believing it actually happened.

"Yeah he was definitely pissed off. Probably why he didn't start the third," Fleury said as he reached his car. "Yeah I don't think he was hurt that much but who knows right?" Patric said, agreeing with Fleury. "Do you want to stay over?" Fleury asked Skylar, who smiled. "Yeah I'd love to! That okay Horny?" she asked, turning to look at her brother.

"Yeah I don't care. I'm not mom," he said, chuckling. Skylar laughed, "Yeah I know! Just checking". She gave him a quick hug, cringing at the disgusting sweat smell. "Please go shower when you get home," she said. Patric laughed. "Yeah, I know. I smell"

"You don't just smell. You reek."

Patric rolled his eyes and shoved her into the car with Fleury. "She's all yours! You can have her!"

Fleury laughed as Skylar fell onto the passenger seat with a thump. "Your brother is so nice," he said sarcastically, while pulling out of the parking lot. "Oh yeah he's real great. Best brother of the year right there," Skylar said, rolling her eyes and laughing.

It, surprisingly, did not take long to get to Fleury's house. Once inside, Skylar flopped onto the couch and turned on the TV, flipping through the channels. "Make yourself at home!" Fleury said, shaking his head, as he sat next to her on the couch. "Oh I will! We could watch a movie or something but you seriously need to shower," she said, wrinkling her nose in disgust. It's really amazing how he can smell so bad after a game. She figured it had to be because he sweats a lot.

"Okay, I will! Jeez!" Fleury said, standing up. "One thing first though," he said. Skylar looked at him quizzically for a second, but then relaxed as he leaned down to give her a soft kiss. Skylar closed her eyes, but he soon pulled away. Instead of going up alone, he picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. "

"What are you doing?" Skylar yelled, trying to sound angry, but her laughs said otherwise. "What does it look like I'm doing? I'm taking you upstairs!" he said, his voice making it sound like Skylar was an idiot for asking a question with such an obvious answer. Skylar rolled her eyes at his sarcastic tone. "Well, yeah! But why?!" she asked, prying him for an answer.

"I felt like it," he said, still managing to give vague responses. Skylar sighed, but couldn't help but like her view of his butt. Really, she couldn't complain! He was still wearing his black shorts from earlier along with a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey shirt. She was so distracted by Fleury's body, that she completely ignored what was happening around her.

Fleury had turned on the shower in the master bathroom and before she realized what was happening, Fleury shoved her into the shower. Skylar gasped as the freezing cold water hit her face and soaked her clothes. "Fleury!" she yelled. She could hear him laughing his ass off, so why not let him feel her pain?

He was doubled over right outside the shower door, struggling to breathe as he was still laughing hard, so Skylar reached out and pulled him in. "Noooo!" he yelled as she pulled him in, unable to struggle against her because his body was worn out from the game earlier. Skylar laughed at Fleury's face when the water pelted his body. "You deserved it!" she said, laughing now that she was numb to the cold water.

Fleury reached for the knob and turned it so the water would warm up. Skylar watched as he took his shirt off and threw it on the bathroom floor. "What're you doing now?" she asked. "Taking a shower. Isn't that what you wanted?" he asked, taking his shorts off as well. Skylar was at a loss for words; seeing him there naked in front of her had that effect on her.

He moved in front of her and grabbed the bottom of her shirt, pulling the thin material over her head. Fleury didn't stop until Skylar too was standing naked in the shower. Feeling exposed Skylar huddled awkwardly in the corner, giving Fleury an uncertain look. "C'mon I've seen you naked before," he said, chuckling at her actions. "We can both shower so then neither of us will smell. You said I needed a shower right? So c'mon!," he said, and Skylar laughed when he used her own words against her.

Reaching for the shampoo, Fleury massaged some into her hair as she did the same with him. As she ran her fingers through his hair, Skylar couldn't help but make it stick up all over the place. The water quickly undid her damage, however, as it rained down on the both of them. Fleury reached for a washcloth and some soap and began gently caressing her as he rubbed the soap all over her body. There was a slight hesitation once he reached her bottom half, but Skylar gave a slight nod of her head and he pushed the washcloth between her legs, causing her to groan as his fingers rubbed against her.

Skylar reached up and wound her fingers tight into his hair, gasping as he continued. He finally moved onward and dragged the washcloth down her legs, as he finished cleaning her body. She took the washcloth from him and started up top, running it across his chest, before slowly moving downwards. His breathing increased slightly as Skylar got closer and closer to her destination. She moved the washcloth down his length gently, watching him close his eyes and sigh in pleasure at her gentle touch. Smirking, she continued down his legs and when she finished, she handed him the washcloth.

Both of them breathing heavily and slightly turned on, Fleury turned off the water and pulled her out of the shower with him, wrapping a towel around both of their bodies to soak up the water. "Well, that was fun," Skylar said, looking into Fleury's brown eyes. "Do I smell good now?" he asked, laughing as he pulled her flush against his body. "Yes, now let me go!" she said, laughing as she struggled against him. Wriggling out of his grip, she ran into his room and found one of his longer shirts, tugging it on and jumping into his bed.

Fleury followed her, grabbing some clothes for himself along the way. Laying down next her, Skylar smiled as he snuggled up against her body. "So did you want to watch a movie?" he asked, grabbing the TV remote and flipping through movies on Netflix, since he was too lazy to get out of bed and put a DVD in. "Yeah.. we could watch Seven? It's pretty good," Skylar said, turning to look at Fleury for his approval. "Mm.. haven't seen it," Fleury said, searching for it. He read the summary and shrugged. "Sure why not?" he said, hitting play and turning off the lights.

"So which sin are you? Lust?" Fleury asked as the movie started and Skylar smacked his chest. "Shhh shut up! It's starting!" Fleury chuckled and turned his gaze back to the TV. Skylar struggled to watch the rest of the movie since she was so tired. She wanted to watch the whole thing, but her eyes betrayed her as she fell asleep halfway through.

The weekend came quickly and Fleury started against Calgary on a dreary Saturday afternoon. It was surprisingly fairly dark out with the clouds that stretched across the sky blocking the sun. Skylar went to the game with Fleury since she spent the last two days at his house. She didn't really want to go back home on Friday so she ended up staying at his house another night, not that he cared.

The Penguins scored early, thirty seconds into the first period to be exact. Unfortunately, the Flames came down the ice just a minute later and scored to tie the game. As the game wore on, Skylar could tell Fleury wasn't on his game. He was leaving some pretty big rebounds, which is unusual for him. She figured he probably wasn't playing his best because they had stayed up pretty late last night, watching another movie.

The Flames came back to win the game 4-2. Skylar made her way to the locker room, hoping Fleury wasn't beating himself up too much. He had some amazing pokechecks in the game, proving to Skylar he is definitely the king of pokechecks. She has yet to see a goalie that can use their stick like he does.

In the locker room, Skylar saw Fleury sitting on the bench, hunched over and deep in thought. She walked over to him and put a hand on his back. "It's okay, Fleury. It wasn't your fault okay? You had some amazing pokechecks out there!" she said, moving her hand in soothing circles on his back. "I know but I let in four goals on thirty shots. That's not good," he said, sighing into his hands.

Skylar pulled him into a hug. "C'mon Fleury, it's okay. How about I take you home?" Skylar asked, wanting to get him home so he can rest and get over the outcome of the game. He nodded his head and Skylar cringed internally at the look in his eyes. He looked so defeated and his usual lighthearted smile had vanished. Skylar walked him out to his car and drove him home.

They got to his house quickly, and Skylar walked him inside and shut the door behind them. She walked him upstairs and they both lay down on his bed. Skylar cuddled up against him, hugging him tight as they both drifted off for an afternoon nap.
