Games and Masquerade
As a child Kai was traumatized. At the age of 11 she was put into a mental hospital, where she remained until she was 13. She thought that a vampire had attacked her. Her family, and doctors, assured her it was only a dog, but she refused to believe them.
Now, it's her senior year in high school. Her friends are having the time of their life, and she's pretending to as well. But she's never told them what Mrs. Nightingale told her. That on her 18th birthday she would become a blood servant, someone who has been bitten by a vampire but not changed. And that Masquerade would come for her. Her birthday falls on Halloween, so as festivities in town kick up, so does the memories that she thought was only nightmares...
