All Alice Hawkins has ever known is the sheltered life she lives in the quiet town at the base of Mount Thurmont. The daughter of the town's undertaker, the young woman does all she can for her broken father and her younger brother, Robbie. She spends her days assisting her father and wandering the woods and mountains of her home.
But when night falls and the moon is high, Alice's true duty must be fulfilled.
Because in the shadow of the mountains and the darkness of the forest, the dead do not sleep easy.

Yet all that Alice knows is jeopardized when people begin to go missing and strange things begin to happen around her. Combined with the discovery of a wounded albeit handsome bootlegger, she learns the hard way that no matter how hard you run, you can't escape from your past.

No matter how secret it is, it will always come back to haunt you.
