I Guess You Can Call These...

Math: the subject of love

I walked into math class and took my normal seat in the back.
The students slowly but surly made their way out of the busy hallway and into the quite, over heated classroom.
Jessie and his friends walked in laughing about something that happened in the hallway.
They sat in front of me, to the right.
I smiled as I watched Jessie laugh and joke around with his friends.
He was the best looking guy I have ever seen and I was the worst looking girl he has ever seen.
I’m pleasantly plump, wild brown hair, huge glasses and hand-me-downs that don’t fit.
In other words, I’m not pretty.
So me and Jessie can never be, all planes of marring him were to be saved for my dreams at night.
Class started and everyone settled down.
I admired Jessie from a far and ignored my teacher.
I didn’t get math anyway, why try?
Our teacher handed back our test that we took a few days ago.
I looked at my paper and saw a nice big ‘F’ writing in that ugly red pen.
I really hate red pen.
Anyway, I threw my test in the trash and sat back down.
Eighteen minutes later the bell rang.
Mr. Cool, ironic name really, my math teacher, held me and one of Jessie’s friends back after class.
His name was Chad.
He was just as hot, but Jessie was always better in my book.
“Samantha, I think you would benefit if Chad tutored you, until I see an improvement with your grade,”
I sighed. “Okay,”
“Great, Chad has offered to tutor you at his house,”
I looked at Chad who smiled. “Sounds good,” I said.
“Great,” Mr. Cool wrote us both a pass and we headed to our classes.
“Do you need a ride?” he asked.
“Yeah, I was just going to take the school bus to your place,”
“No need,” Chad said.
I smiled and walked to my next class.
******
I saw Chad walking with Jessie and his friends.
He waved bye to them and he walked me to his car.
We got in and he drove us to his house.
The car ride was awkward and quite. The radio was the only thing playing.
Chad led my to his room after yelling hi to his mom, who I had the pleasure of meeting.
Nice lady.
Anyway, we sat down on his bed and Chad went over the notes in class with me.
After a while I started to get it. We worked on the homework together.
Mrs. Will, Chad’s mother, opened the door and smiled at us. “Dinner’s ready,”
“We’ll be down in a second,” Chad said.
Mrs. Will left the room and went back down stairs.
We followed shortly after and joined Chad’s little brother and sitter at the table with his mom.
Dinner was quite and delicious.
Afterward, Chad drove me home and walked me to the front door.
“Thanks for today,” I smiled.
“No problem, see you tomorrow,”
“Yup,” I smiled.
Chad leaned in and gave me a quick kiss, then ran away.
I smiled to myself and walked inside.
Suddenly, I was over Jessie.
