Pretty Odd

Chapter Three

Boom!

I jumped up in bed, drenched in sweat. Rain was beating against my window and the room was flashing with lightning. Another loud boom caused me to jump out of bed and I wandered down the hall to Matt’s room.

“Matt,” I whispered, creeping into his room. “Psst!” I whispered slightly louder, poking his sleeping form.

“Huh? What do you want?” he moaned.

“I can’t sleep. And it’s pouring down rain and thundering. And I’m scared,” I whined.

“Come here, then.” He pulled back his blankets and patted to the spot in his bed next to him. I slithered into Matt’s bed and snuggled into him and he wrapped his arm tightly around my waist.

Boom! Another loud crack of thunder caused me to flinch and nearly hit Matt in the face.

“Calm down, it’s okay,” he cooed into my ear as he began to trace patterns into my hip with his fingers. His skin was soft and warm and his voice smooth and deep. I quickly found myself being lulled to sleep.

“I love you, Naomi,” he whispered into my ear before placing a kiss on the crook of my neck.

“I love you, too, Matt,” I moaned before drifting into a dreamless sleep.
