Odessa "Odie June" Coones gave birth to James Owen Dodson at the age of eighteen in Happy Rock, Missouri. Three years later, due to different circumstances, she picked up and moved her son and herself to Huntington Beach, California.

She now resides there with five year old James "Sully" Dodson.

When one Mrs. Sullivan is walking around the shopping district where Odie June and Sully spent their time during the day, she recognizes her son in the boy and it creates a calamity in her soul so profound she turned tail and ran.
