Brought Together by Angel

Chapter Five : Don't! Please!

Marco left the house , his mind full of emotions, feeling angry , upset , sad, broken and abandoned , he can't believe what he had said to his parents, he felt angry with himself, he shouldn't argue with his father , he shouldn't yell at his mother , he should controlled his nerves but what happened had happened and nothing could stopped it , he unfortunately couldn't do anything, he knew the arranged marriage wouldn't had been cancelled unless if he left the house without looking back , but he couldn't , beside he didn't have any other place to go , he couldn't go to his sisters too , his only friend was Marcel but they were in long time separated , he had no one.

He walked silently down the streets, hiding his hands inside his trousers pockets, ignoring the cold surrounding him in the early winter night , but he was on fire, his head was like a trafic highlights , too much chaos, his thoughts were wrestling , all what he wanted at that moment , to calm his nerves so he could find a way to make up with his parents later. Finally Marco found himself near the bridge, there was a single street lamp near where he was standing , but it light was weak, the yellow faint shine didn't reach him .

It was almost midnight , nobody was in the nearby , everyone must have been at their homes hiding from the ice cold night, feeling warm around their families and their beloved ones , they were happy people feeling joy, happiness, hope and – love, something he would probably never feel again. Everyone else but him , he was alone and he felt so lonely , the chilly wind started blowing against his face, sending shiver along his body down to his spine , but the coldness of the wind was nothing compare to the coldness he felt at that moment , the coldness of being lonely and hopeless . Marco looked down and saw the highway under the bridge he was standing at , he put his both hands on the cold metal rails closing his eyes , trying to scream his pain out but nothing came out, and then it happened, his tears started to fall down while the thoughts of all the pain he went through everyday were stuck in his mind, he was an adult man with a nice job , his patients all loved him , he was a lovable person, everyone else respected him and took his advice and tips with open heart , but there was only one thing ruining his life, the marriage deal.

Marco wiped a few of the tears he had cried off the corner of his eye , for a moment he lost his desire to live , the only thing was in his mind was an evil depressed idea running in , what if he jumped on that bridge, he then at least could make an end to his suffering. Marco took a deep breath then looked up to the night sky, seeing the stars sparkling from distant. It had been a bad day for him, but a good day for anybody else probably . He looked down at the highway again, he stepped one more step toward the railing, bending his upper body forward to watch the few cars driving on that late time, his thoughts were still analyzing this crazy idea he had gotten but he couldn't be a coward , he wouldn't lose his life for something worthless , maybe he could do nothing to cancel the marriage but also ending his life was not really a wise idea , he should face the troubles instead to runaway by doing something stupid, he was not that much depressed , he still needed to ask forgiveness from his parents , he still had people who care of him , people who brought happiness just by seeing them at his office .

"Don't! Please! Don't do it!"

Just in time to pull away his ears caught a scream coming from behind , a female voice , that if he heard right, before he turned his head toward the sound , he could heard jogging feet into the pavement and a dog barking , the both came running toward him, as he glimpsed he saw a figure of a female running with a dog, trying to reach him as soon as possible , waving at him and begging for him to not do it,

" Don't do what?" Marco shouted back,

"Don't jump please!" the girl replied, and apparently she had problems with her left ankle , probably because she made some false move when she run toward him, as he thought

The young Vet didn't get what was going on, he didn't want to commit a suicide despite this idea crossed his mind minutes ago, so why this person was begging to not jump, the faint light coming from the only lamp in the street was flashing just as it was about to burn, but he didn't care , he glided his hands once again into his warm trousers pockets waited for the girl , and in a split of second he felt he was pulling away hard from his place by his arm while the girl was trying to catch her breath, still holding on his arm firmly

" Don't do it please , everyone has troubles in their life but you shouldn't just give up , life is beautiful out there and it's really worth to live, trust me" she said , stopping by every word to catch some of her breath since she came running as fast as she could, her dog was swirling around them , and sniffed at Marco's trousers , just like it sensed another dog's signs left right there. Marco could noticed that the dog was a female golden retriever,

" I didn't want to jump" he replied awkwardly , his gaze was insecure, the girl just looked at him and in a moment she hugged him tightly, then pulled back a little

" Oh my... I thought you were about to jump , I was walking in the other side..." she pointed her index in the other side of the street, ".. when I saw you bending over and oh lord you scared the shit out of me" said the girl finishing her sentence while she was still trying to breath properly

" Why you care if I jumped or no , if am I allowed to ask?" he said in low voice

" I care because I care, I don't want to see people giving up easily on their lives, despite the daily troubles life is really worth to live for" Marco just smiled and it must be the girl noticed his pleased, kind, and nice grin and she copied him

" Good to see you alive and smiling" , she commented, Marco felt blushing and confused

" Why do you still think that I was about to end my life"

" Oh come on , it's almost midnight , you're at the bridge and the street isn't busy , no one actually is around .." she turned her head in the both sides then followed ,"..I think that what anybody could think if someone else saw what I have seen , I have saved your life you owe me though" she giggled

" What! You saved me! but.." Marco couldn't finish his words when suddenly the lamp shine brighter, giving him ability to figure who was that girl , in that single moment Marco froze, he felt like his world exploded, felt dizzy, and if it was not silly he could admit that he saw some sparkling shining stars making a halo around the girl and some pinky unicorns gliding happily on the rainbow, he couldn't believe his luck, the girl that was accompanying his thoughts for over than a week she was standing just right before his eyes , he was in total chock when the girl was her turn now to look confused , it was the same girl he saw her a week ago at the supermarket , he could swear by that.

" Yes and you owe me" she winked and then the lamp burnt, leaving the both silhouette standing near the bridge in the cold December night as the dog was dancing happy around them , the wind started to blow again, Marco kept looking at the brunette girl , he couldn't see her features clearly visible but he by now could at least recognized her face before the lamp went dead, and he felt warm again despite the cold surrounded them

" And if it is midnight , what are you doing here in this cold late night?" Marco asked after he composed himself once again and found his tongue,

" I wanted to take a short walk with Angie" she pointed on her dog, "..beside I'm living in the nearby , this is my neighborhood" she said smiling rubbing her both palms of her hands with her pants to warm herself

"It's getting cold let's move to somewhere else and you can tell me your story and why you wanted to jump from the bridge" she spoke out , Marco just looked at her , wondering why the girl still thinking he was about to commit a suicide , but as much as he was confused as more as he was eager to talk with her , so he didn't care , he wanted only to spend much time with her, at least he would have known her name

The both young people finding themselves walking toward the park after they bought hot chocolate , to warm themselves, no one else was at the park but them , walking in silence while Angie was just before them. Marco peeked an abandoned bench, he suggested to sit there and the both walked toward it and then they sat down at the edge, his eyes glued to the ground.

" So what's your story, well please don't get me wrong, I don't mean to pry in your private life , but if you need someone to talk to I'm right here" she said, sipping from her mug

Marco was still stuck with what happened earlier when he heard the girl talking , he looked up to see her face , he saw her inviting her dog to sit next to her on the bench and then rubbing on her skull, he couldn't answer , just thinking of what happened made him feel miserable and once again he felt lonely,

" Come on don't be shy , you know what, sometimes we need to run into strangers to take the weight off our shoulders, think of me as one of them , you can tell me what is bothering you that makes you leave your house in this cold night instead to be with your beloved one " she said, Marco stared back at her , he was speechless , how he could say that he was still single and that he didn't have anyone , despite he was engaged he had never considered his fiancée as a close person to him, or as a beloved one

" Thank you ", that all what he managed to say with a broken voice

" You're welcome" she said and sipped her hot chocolate again

Marco didn't know how he finally managed to talk , something in this girl made him feel comfortable around her and even trusted her to talk about personal issues, he first begun talking about his parents, but never mentioned the arranged marriage , he didn't see it as a appropriate to mention it for a reason , he wanted to know the girl better , and didn't want to risk this acquaintance , he told her about the fight and how nobody was really proud of what he was doing, that his father was ashamed of him and so on, the girl in other hand didn't interrupted him , she let him talking and she heard him till the last word , she can feel what he was going through, and then she put her hand on his shoulder, Marco looked at her with blank expression

"Don't worry , I do believe that everything will be fine again , and what your father said didn't mean he hate you by now, you are and you will be always his son and he can't hate on you... and.. if you find nobody who sees you as a special and perfect person, make sure that you're very special for someone else and that you're perfect for them, well at least for me" she finished her statement and stood up, pulling her coat a little bit down and flicked her jeans. Marco just smile, for a long time he didn't feel this sudden comfort, he felt his mind was light as a feather and all his anger, disappointment, sadness.. all this negative emotions had gone just because of this brunette girl.

" Come on Angel it's time to go" she addressed her golden Retriever, the young vet was staring at her to the point he forgot to ask about her name

" I have to go now , and you have to do so, really it was a nice chance to meet you... ehm I forgot to ask about your name, I'm Emilie by the way" she said reached her hand out to shake Marco's hand

" Nice to meet you Emilie! I'm Marco , and yes thank you to share some of your time with me, I really appreciated it"

" Never mind! I'm glad that I can help whenever there is someone there need my helping hand" she smiled

" Have a wonderful night Marco, and trust me by every new day, there is always new hope "

"Thank you, but first let me then walking you, it's very late" he said and she nodded

The both walked in silence, their footsteps were echoed in the pavement while the yawning of the dog was following their rhythm, Marco wanted to make sure that the girl wouldn't fall in troubles, despite she told him that she was in her neighborhood, they arrived a lighten place, she shyly thanked him and wished him the best, then walked toward the first traffic lights and turned left, leaving him still standing in owe, he couldn't made a single move, just when he wanted to ask for her number, Emilie was gone, he cursed his luck but then he smiled, remembering her words and how she managed to make him feel better

" You're perfect to me" was still ringing in his ears

" You're perfect to me too, Emilie" he followed in his heart
