Eden Branwell had as normal an upbringing as any Shadowhunter, or demon hunter, could. Following her single mother from Idris to Institutes and back again, she called her home wherever she felt she best belonged - and, for the most part, that was with the Lightwoods in New York. Although trouble always found her in New York, in forms of demons and warlocks and faeries and, of course, boys, Eden is in Los Angeles when she disappears and is presumed to be dead. However, she arrives at the New York Institute’s doorstep one year after her disappearance and three months after her supposed funeral, with a revolutionary secret, a target on her back, and no recollection of either one. As a villainous and traitorous organization called The Circle rises and Shadowhunters thought to be dead begin to reappear, Eden must remember the last year of her life, or else be used as a pawn in the deadly war brewing between Shadowhunters.
