Wings

Fairies seem to [be] especially fond of the chase.
- The Folk-Lore of the Isle of Man by A. W. Moore. (1891)

The woods behind Allie Stone's house always frightened her. They were dark, scary, and she was pretty sure that opossums resides there (and it was no secret that Allie was terrified of those creatures). Hazel McKinley, Allie's best friend, managed to talk her into exploring those woods almost every time they hung out, determined to find some sort of treasure hidden deep in the roots. But there is much more dangerous things in those woods than creatures guarding hidden treasures or opossums. There's creatures with jagged teeth and large black eyes and long fingers that lead into pointy and even longer nails that liked to cause trouble. These are the creatures that feed off of fear. There was only one thing that they liked more than fear - it was a chase. They were the cat; their victims were the mice they toyed with.
