Don’t Let Me Let You Go

39: The One

“You know, I have the morning off” Iker mused as he placed his arms around Viola’s waist, his nose softly nudging against the skin of her neck. It was early, with Viola having set an early alarm, the pair found themselves awake just after 7 in the morning, and Iker was intent on using the time that they had before she was due at work. It had taken her a little while, Viola had been in Porto for a month before she had found herself a job at a boutique a little away from their apartment, and Iker was pleased that she was settling in. A small part of him had worried that if she struggled, then she would change her mind about wanting to stay, something he didn’t want to happen.

Viola, who’d been tying her hair up, smirked. “You do?” she posed.

“I’m not due in training until this afternoon” Iker noted, pressing a soft kiss to the warm skin “What time do you start work?” he posed.

“In about an hour and a half” Viola noted “And I still have to take a run and shower before I get there. Sorry, mi amor” she added, wiggling out of his arms slightly.

“You’re no fun” Iker pouted as he watched her pad towards the wardrobe, placing her trainers onto her feet.

Viola scoffed. “You’re just needy” she countered “I’ve been here for a month and in that time, I can’t recall one day when you’ve not tried to get me back into bed. What’s up with you?” she teased, pulling her hoodie from the side. She thought that it was sweet, since she had arrived, Iker had hardly been able to keep his hands to himself, and Viola had to admit that she found it cute. They were in a good place, they had been since she had moved in, and Viola wanted to enjoy it for a little while before the pressure of moving their relationship forwards became more apparent once more.

“Can’t a guy want to spend time with his pretty girlfriend?” Iker posed.

“It’s been a month. Surely one day won’t kill you” Viola teased.

“You don’t know that” Iker protested.

Viola shook her head a little and padded towards the bed where he sat, pressing a kiss to his head. “You’ll be fine, mi amor” she mused gently “I’m in work this morning, but we could go out to dinner. It’s been a little while since you took me on a date” she added, offering him a grin.

“I can do that” Iker murmured, his arms sat around her waist.

Viola smiled a little at his embrace before she pressed another kiss to his head. “I’ll see you later?” she posed.

“Of course you will” Iker grinned “You live here” he added.

Settling her bag down beside the door, Viola padded into the apartment a little, her blue eyes widening a little at the sight of Iker who sat on the couch, dressed in a neatly pressed shirt and tie. She knew that that had plans, Iker had texted her throughout the day to get things sorted out, but the sight of him in a shirt and tie caught her off guard. It had been a while since she had seen him all dressed up. “Wow” she squeaked.

Iker, who’d been flicking through the television channels, lifted his head. “You sound surprised” he teased.

“Not surprised” Viola countered “It’s just been a while since I saw you all dressed up. You look good” she added.

Iker smirked. “Gracias” he noted.

“Do we have reservations?” she posed, kicking her shoes off.

“For 6:30” Iker replied “That enough time for you to get ready?” he added, offering her a small smirk.

Viola rolled her eyes. “Excuse me for wanting to look nice” she countered.

Iker shook his head. “You know I think you’re beautiful all the time, right?” he posed as he stretched his hand out, tugging her a little closer to him. He knew she didn’t like to admit it, for as long as he had known her, Viola had tried not to let her self-conscious side show, but he wanted her to know that he found her beautiful, regardless of what she was wearing, Iker merely adored her.

“You have to say that” Viola countered “You’re my boyfriend” she added.

“Even if it wasn’t, I’d tell you that you’re stunning” Iker countered “You’re a beautiful girl, Lala” he added.

Viola offered him a slightly dubious look before she kissed his cheek, mumbling about needing to take a shower.

Iker watched her go before he rested back into his seat, a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth. He knew she would never accept it, when she wanted to be, Viola could be awfully shy, but he knew he was a lucky man.

“It’s been a while since we did this” Viola smiled as she walked along side Iker, swinging their hands between them. It had been a nice night, after dinner, they’d had a couple of drinks in a bar before they’d opted to take a walk and Viola couldn’t quite remember the last time that they had been on a date. It was something she missed.

“It has” Iker agreed “We should do it more when the season picks up. It’ll give us both something to look forwards to” he mused.

“We could try to do it once a week” Viola smiled “One night a week which would be all about us” she enthused.

“And every other night?” Iker teased.

“You know what I mean” Viola countered, leaning into his side a little.

Iker smiled and wrapped his arm around her waist. “It sounds like a plan, Lala” he murmured as he pressed a kiss against her temple. Viola smiled at the touch and leant into him a little more, something which made Iker’s warm smile widen. It hadn’t been long, he and Viola had only been dating for 8 months, but the way they were was something he had aspired to. It was comfortable, even in his worst moments, he was content to talk to Viola, and he knew that that was a good sign. He could be open with her, honest, and that was something which scared him slightly. He was vulnerable with her, more so than he had been with anyone else, and whilst he knew that it was a good sign, it also worried him.

He knew that Viola was the one for him, and he could only hope that she felt the same way about him.
