Don’t Let Me Let You Go

91: A Proud Husband

“I am going to settle this one down for a nap” Viola mused as she stepped into the villa that Iker had rented for them, Arthur’s head tiredly lolling onto her shoulder. It hadn’t been a long flight, but it had been too long for the 8 month old who had spent most of it screaming, and Viola wanted to settle him down for a little while before she fed him, something which would afford her a little break.

“I will set about getting the bags up to our room” Iker mused before he stepped towards her, pressing a soft kiss to Arthur’s head “Buenos noches, little one” he cooed softly.

“I shouldn’t be gone a minute” Viola mumbled “He should fall asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow” she enthused.

“He’s not the only one” Iker noted.

Viola offered him a soft smile before she padded away, moving to find the room that Iker had had set up for their son. It had all been his doing, with Viola’s focus firmly fixed on the wedding, Iker had taken control of the honeymoon, and Viola was a little excited to see what he had come up with. It had been a while since they’d taken a vacation, after their first, less than successful attempt, they had both been a little reluctant, but she was excited by the prospect of 2 weeks alone with Arthur and Iker. It felt as though it had been forever since she had had her two boys to herself.

Finding the nursery, Viola carefully edged the door open and padded inside, making her way towards the crib where she set Arthur down, earning a small whimper on the part of the little boy who peeked up at her, his blue eyes blinking sleepily. “It’s Ok” she mused softly “You should get some sleep. You were a fussy one today” she murmured, gently brushing his dark hair through with her fingers.

Arthur shifted a little, his feet kicking slightly before a small yawn fell out of his mouth, making Viola smile gently. “I love you, Arthur” she murmured softly as he let his eyes close. Watching him for a few seconds, she ensured he was safely asleep before she collected the monitor, making her way towards her bedroom where Iker sat, his head rested tiredly against the mattress.

“I thought you were putting things away?” Viola teased as she slipped her feet out of her shoes, neatly settling them beside the door.

“I was” Iker noted “But then I saw this wonderful mattress and I figured I could lay down. I did just spend a lot of time on a plane with a screaming baby” he insisted, a small yawn falling out of his mouth.

Viola shook her head. “I know, I was there” she noted.

“Did he go down alright?” Iker posed as he tossed onto his side, his dark eyes watching Viola as she fished through her suitcase, trying to find a pair of pyjamas. It was late, even though the flight had been short, it had departed late, and Iker was more than ready to retire for the night, even if it did mean running the risk of Arthur waking up in the middle of the night, he could think of nothing more appealing than curling up beneath a cosy duvet with his arm looped around Viola’s waist.

“He was practically asleep when we got in there” Viola noted as she moved to untie her hair.

“I don’t blame him” Iker mused, moving to his feet “He’s had a hectic couple of days” he mumbled, his fingertips gently brushing the blonde hair away from her neck before he ducked forwards, kissing the skin softly.

“Hm” Viola hummed “He certainly has” she agreed.

Iker smiled against the back of her neck briefly before he settled his hands on her hips, turning her to face him. “I know I didn’t say it yesterday, or this morning, but you did an amazing job” he mumbled softly “The day, all of it, was perfect, and I am so proud of you” he insisted, pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head.

“You did more than your fair share” Viola smiled as she pulled away, her hands picking up the pair of pyjamas she’d found.

“But you did most of it” Iker enthused “And you did a spectacular job” he added.

Viola shook her head, a small blush playing on her cheeks.

“You’re blushing?” Iker teased “Lala, we’ve been together for two and a half years. How is it that I can still make you blush?” he grinned.

“It’s a skill you have” Viola mused “You always say such sweet things and sometimes, they make me blush. Do you want me to stop?” she posed, her blue eyes peeking up through her eyelashes.

“Never” Iker responded instantly.

Viola offered him a gentle smile before she padded towards the bathroom, allowing Iker the chance to lay down once more, a relieved sigh falling out of his mouth. He had big plans, almost every day of their two weeks was planned out for them, but that night, he merely wanted to relax. It had been a long two days, stressful too, and he wanted the chance to recharge before he focussed on ensuring that their two week honeymoon was one that they never forgot.

Yawning a little, he kicked his shoes off his feet and wiggled out of his jeans, his dark eyes watching as Viola padded into the room once more, dressed in a white tank top and tiny pyjama shorts. “Those are your pyjamas?” he mused, looking her up and down.

“I’ve always worn something similar to bed, yes” Viola mused, running a brush through her hair “You’re just noticing?” she posed.

“I’m just regretting that I am so tired. You look amazing, Lala” he enthused.

Viola smiled at him gently before she padded towards the bed, slipping quietly beneath the duvet. “You know you’ve got me for two weeks. There’ll be plenty of time for that” she insisted as she wrapped his arm around her waist.

“I’ve got you for longer than 2 weeks” Iker commented, his thumb brushing over her stomach.

Viola shook her head, a small laugh falling out of her mouth.

Iker marvelled at the sound for a moment before he ducked his head, kissing the back of her shoulder softly. “Buenos noches, mi esposa” he mumbled.

Viola let the word ‘esposa’ linger for a second before she felt a smile pull at the corner of her mouth.

She was certain that it would take her a long time to get used to the idea that she was his wife.
