Don’t Let Me Let You Go

92: I Know You

“Look at what papa built, Arthur” Iker smiled as he settled the 8 month old in his lap, showing off the sandcastle that he had built. It had been a pleasant morning, the small family had spent it relaxing on a stretch of beach which wasn’t too far away from their villa, and Iker had to admit, whilst it wasn’t entirely what he had planned, he had enjoyed it. It had been quiet, relaxed, and Iker had enjoyed having both Arthur and Viola to himself, something he felt as though he hadn’t had in months.

Viola, who was sat a little away from them, shook her head. “You know, he’ll destroy that in two seconds if you let him” she mused, peeking away from the book which rested against her legs.

Iker scoffed. “Why do you think I am holding onto him?” he noted, tickling Arthur’s side “I saw the mess he made of that block tower you built with him last night” he teased.

“I spent almost an hour setting that up” Viola protested softly.

“What can I say?” Iker shrugged “He takes after his papa. My madre warned me that I went through a phase like this” he mused, smiling a little as Arthur looked up at him, showing off the dimples in his cheeks.

Viola admired the smile on her husband’s face and stepped towards him, sitting down at his side before she carefully moved to collect Arthur, settling him down in her lap whilst she fixed his hat on his head, trying to ward off the warm sun. “He’ll be walking in a couple of months” she fussed as Arthur grabbed a fistful of sand, showing it off eagerly to his father “And talking” she added.

“He’s growing quick” Iker agreed, dusting the sand out of the little boy’s hand.

“Too quick” Viola mumbled “I already miss being able to hold him in one arm” she pouted.

Iker smiled. “Getting sentimental, are we?” he teased, settling an arm around her waist as she adjusted Arthur, stopping him from messing around with the sand.

“Perhaps” Viola shrugged “Are you honestly going to tell me that that doesn’t happen to you sometimes?” she posed.

Iker shrugged. “Sometimes” he admitted “I miss Madrid more often than not” he mused.

“It’s gone by quickly” Viola murmured, leaning into him slightly.

“You’re happy though, aren’t you?” Iker posed softly as he moved his hand up her side, brushing the skin exposed by her swimsuit softly. He knew what she meant, the past 2 years had sped by for them, and it had left little time for reflection, but he knew that he was happy with how it had worked out. He had gotten what he wanted, even if it had been with Sergio and Pilar’s help, and he knew he wouldn’t have changed a thing. They’d had their moments, but with Viola and Arthur was where he wanted to find himself.

Viola nodded. “You know that I am” she murmured.

“I’d like to think so” Iker mused, kissing her cheek softly “If not, I am probably going to have to find a decent lawyer” he joked.

Viola breathed out a laugh before she tilted her head, smiling gently at Arthur who’d fallen asleep against her. “I should get him out of the sun” she noted softly as she moved to her feet “Are you going to join me for some lunch?” she posed.

Iker nodded “You try and stop me” he mused as he pushed himself to his feet, taking Arthur out of his wife’s arms before he offered her his hand.

Viola smiled a little and laced their fingers together, following him up towards the house. She did feel a little a reflective, with the wedding out of the way and Arthur’s 1st birthday coming up, she was in the mood to reminisce, but she knew that she was where she wanted to be, even despite the wobbles she had had. When she was with Iker, and Arthur, she was happy and she wanted to keep it that way for as long as she could.

“Arthur is safely asleep for the night” Iker announced as he stepped into the living room, settling the baby monitor on the side. It had been a relaxed day, a period of time on the beach had been followed by a movie day, and Iker had enjoyed himself, even if it wasn’t how he had imagined spending his 2 week honeymoon, just having time with Arthur and Viola was enough for him in that moment.

“He is? You were gone for almost half an hour?” Viola commented, moving to clear away their plates.

“He was a little fussy” Iker conceded, moving to collect their glasses “But he’s down now and that means, for the first time in two days, I have you to myself” he mused, offering her a small grin.

“You had me to yourself last night and all you did was fall asleep” Viola countered, offering him a smirk.

Iker rolled his eyes.

Viola offered him a triumphant look before she attempted to walk past him, something he stopped by lifting her up, resting her over his shoulder. Viola let out a squeak and slapped his back, making him laugh. “You’re not going to get me to put you down, Lala” he mused, navigating his way towards their bedroom.

Viola huffed. “Do you have to pick me up?” she posed “I can climb the stairs by myself” she added as he pushed the bedroom door open, settling her down on the end of the bed.

“It’s more romantic this way” Iker shrugged “Besides, I know you. You’ve have made some excuse to stay down stairs just to irk me” he added with a knowing smile.

“You don’t know that” Viola commented.

“I think I do” Iker smiled.

Viola rolled her eyes slightly before Iker moved towards her, pressing a warm kiss against her lips. Viola smiled into it, her fingers weaving into his hair as she shuffled a little up the bed, tugging him along with her. “Eager” Iker smirked as she dropped her hands, finding the bottom of his shirt.

“I’m supposed to be on my honeymoon” Viola teased “And my husband, well, he’s wearing too many clothes” she smirked.

“You do listen to me” Iker teased gently, his fingers tucking her hair away from her face.

“Always” Viola insisted gently “Whilst I might not say it as much as I should, I do like having you around” she teased.

Iker shook his head briefly before he pressed another kiss against her lips, determined to enjoy a moment alone with her.
