Second Best
Winter Break.
Winter break was a week away. Ty and Kitty spent as much time as they could with one another. Even if it meant going to a few classes late.
"Here Kitty I got you this." Ty handed her a slender box
"Aww babe you shouldn't have. Especially when I haven't go you anything yet."
Kitty reached for the box but a small figure came and snatched the box. It was Kitty's cousin sister. Cece.
"Thanks Boo! What did you get for me?" She smiled.
"It's not for you, it's for your sis."
Cece being older than kitty by a few weeks grew up together like sisters. Sharing birthday parties and her coming along with Kitty went on trips with her parents. Cece being the playful type always teased Kitty that Ty was her boyfriend.
"Nonsense I'm sure this is for me! The paper wrapping is my favorite color and totally not the color Kitty favors at all" She pulled at the bow and slowly opened the wrapping.
"Sis come on give it back."
"I'm not all mean. Here." She gave the box back and skipped away.
"Why doesn't she get I'm all yours?"
"You know she's joking."
"But I don't like anyone joking about anything I do or get for you."
"Here I'll get your mind off it."
Kitty opened the box revealing a cat shaped necklace.
"Let me put it on for you."

Break started but the endless texts between the two never stopped.
[T: I miss you.]
[K: I miss you too.]
[T: This sucks. Texting kisses doesn't compare to the real thing.]
[K: I know.]
[T: Well anyways hows your break so far?]
[K: It's ok. My parents are leaving tomorrow to spend New Year's and as usual leaving me here.]
[T: You serious? Babe I'm sorry]
[K: I hate being alone. But it's ok Danielle is coming over to keep me company.]
[T: Good. But I'll still be worried about you.]

For the next two days was filled snacking and endless television.
"Dude I wish you lived closer so we could walk to the store or something"
"I know"
"Hold on" Danielle got out her cell. "Yeah? Really?! Ok! I'm here at Lilith'es house!" She threw her phone into her bag and gathered her clothes.
"Dude my mom is going into labor!"
"Really?!"
"Yeah I gotta get going!" Closing the door behind her.
Alone.
K: Great...
T: Hey babe! What's wrong?
K: Danielle's mom went into labor and left. Which means I'm here alone.
T: Aww really!? Shoot. Hey I'll text you back in a bit.
K: You too? Boo....
An hour passed.
Bing!
[T: Babe guess what?]
[K: What?]
[T: I convinced my sis to take me over there!]
[K: Wait What?!]
[T: I'm going to your house so you don't have to be alone.]
[K: Ok!!!]
[T: Just send me the directions and I'll be there soon!]
Kitty sent the directions and in a hurry cleaned up all the snacks and managed to squeeze in a quick shower.
<So we get to spend it together after all!! Yes!! Thank you!!>
She waited in the living room. Waited for the text that indicated that he was outside.
She waited.

But the text never came in.
