Lucy’s POV- January 2015
“Thanks for letting me tag along”

I looked at Mike and smiled.

“You know I don’t mind” I told him as he opened the door for me.

“I know, but your boyfriend might”

I waved him off.

“He won’t” I assured him.

Mike nodded and followed me inside the restaurant. He followed me to where Mattias and a couple of his teammates were eating. Calle was the first to notice me and he cleared his throat getting Mattias’ attention.

“Lucy, how nice of you to join us”

I chose to ignore him and wave at everyone.

“Hi guys” I said.

I was greeted and Mattias spoke up.

“Lucy convinced you to come?”

Mike chuckled and nodded.

“She told me the restaurant, and who was I to say no?”

Mattias chuckled.

“That’s true, have a seat. Let me wave down a waitress”

I smiled at Ryan, Seth and Craig who were seated across from us.

“Michael, is that you?”

Mike chuckled as the waitress approached us. The redhead grinned as she made her way over with two menus

“Hey Annie”

She smiled and hugged him.

“I haven’t seen you in forever! How are you? I heard what happened, but it’s so nice to see you!”

Mike nodded slowly and she squeezed his arm.

“I’m actually heading back Sunday night”

She nodded at him and turned to me.

“Here I am talking, and not doing my job”

“It’s fine” I told her as she handed me the menu.

“To San Francisco, right?”

Mike shook his head.

“I transferred to San Jose State after the incident”

She hummed and he nodded.

“So you go to school with Dave! What are you studying? How is he?”

I opened my menu and began looking through it as Mike told her that he was double majoring. He mentioned Dave and then I remembered who this girl was. Annie had the biggest crush on Dave right before Dave moved away after his parents divorced and his mom got custody of him.

“Nice!”

Mike nodded.

“Yea, what about you? How’s USC?”

She nodded.

“It’s going well, I had to take a year off because of financial issues but that has been resolved”

Mike nodded.

“That’s good”

Annie nodded.

“Let me take your orders before my boss comes out here to scold me”

Mike chuckled and nodded.

“I’ll get my usual”

She nodded and wrote it on the notepad. I ordered a country fried steak and a lemonade. Once she was gone Calle cleared his throat.

“Hello to you too Lucy”

I looked at Calle and smiled.

“The more sassy you are to me the less food I’ll feed you” I warned him.

Filip chuckled.

“I said nothing”

I looked at Fil.

“I know, I’ll remember that” I told Filip.

He smiled and nodded. He turned to Mike and introduced himself. Calle added himself into the conversation.

“How was the event?”

I looked at Mattias.

“You know how on our way out we bumped into two players” I told Mattias.

He nodded and glanced up as Annie put our drinks down.

“They recognized me and they called me out for being there” I said.

Mike was talking to Filip about school because Filip asked to explain what cognitive science was.

“Did you tell them off?”

I looked at Calle.

“No, of course not. One of them was the goaltender” I said.

“Quick wasn’t in net”

I nodded.

“I know how Jonathan Quick looks like, Aunt Mel loves him. Not him though, his back up” I said.

I turned away from Calle when I heard a throat clear.

“Hi Lucy”

“Hey Lucy”

“Luce”

“Hello guys” I told Craig, Seth and Ryan.

Craig looked at Ryan nudged Seth. Seth rolled his eyes and looked at me.

“Ekky was telling us that you were born in Nashville, but raised in LA”

I nodded and reached for my lemonade.

“He also mentioned you did gymnastics”

I hummed as I took a sip of the lemonade.

“Yes, I got into gymnastics when I was about 3 years old. I didn’t start competing until I was 11 though. I did collegiate gymnastics and I retired after my undergrad to focus on school” I said as I took a bite of my sandwich.

Craig nodded and gestured to my height.

“That’s really cool. I guess that explains why you’re small”

I laughed and nodded.

“Yea, I actually grew about 3 inches during college. It was hard to adjust to the height as well” I said.

“Really, how?”

I looked at Ryan.

“My tumbling had to be much tighter in floor and for vault I had to dismount early to get more height. The little things honestly” I said.

“You didn’t do the all around?”

I laughed.

“I cannot do bars to save my life” I admitted.

I gave that job to Angela who made it look incredibly easy.

“So you wore the cute little leotards and did the weird finger and arm gestures”

I laughed and nodded as Seth wiggled his fingers.

“Yes I did” I said.

He hummed and nodded.

“Mattias said you went to Vanderbilt for Grad School?”

I nodded.

“Where did you go for your UnderGrad?”

“UCLA” I told them.

Seth hummed.

“You’re out of his league”

Mike chuckled and thanked Annie who put our plates of food on the table.

“You can cook from what I hear. These two rave about how good your food is. You’re smart because engineering is not easy at all”

I smiled and nodded.

“It’s not” I agreed.

Seth nodded.

“What do you like about him?”

“I mean what’s not to like about him?” I asked as I squeezed Mattias’ arm.

Mattias grinned as I kissed his cheek earning a groan from Mike. By the time we finished dinner, Mike had exchanged phone numbers with Filip, and Seth. They bonded over the fact that they were the same age (Born 1994).
