Lucy’s POV- July 2014
“I am so tanned”

I laughed and looked at him.

“At least it’s not a wetsuit tan” I told him.

He laughed and nodded as he put his surfboard in his car. I reached in my bag and pulled out my bag of gummy worms.

“Did you have fun?”

I looked at Mike and smiled.

“Of course, the view here is so beautiful. Before I go, we should come again” I told him.

He nodded.

“For sure, we could spend an afternoon here”

I nodded.

“Yea, that would be fun” I said as he unlocked his car.

I offered him gummy worms and he got three.

“We should be able to beat traffic”

I nodded and he reached in my bag for his shirt. He slipped it on and looked at his phone.

“Alex gets out of work at 4pm, but she doesn’t get home till almost 5 so we should beat her there”

“That sounds good” I said making my way to the passenger door.

I got into the car and a few seconds later Mike got into the car. He plugged his phone into the aux cord and handed it to me as he turned on the car.

“Seat belt” I warned him.

He smiled and put on his seat belt.

“I was going to put it on”

I hummed and he turned to look behind us as he pulled out of the car of its parking spot.

“Am I a sucky tour guide?”

I laughed.

“You’re a good tour guide” I said.

He smiled and nodded.

“Alright, Alex feels bad”

“She shouldn’t” I said.

He glanced at me.

“She’s Alex”

I laughed and nodded.

“True, but she shouldn’t feel bad. She’s at work not off somewhere else” I said.

He nodded.

“Like my sister”

I looked at him and he shrugged.

“Bobbi is being a bitch. She’s being childish, but she will get over it”

I nodded.

“I could careless how she acts towards me, but she shouldn’t act like that to Alex. She’s supposed to be Alex’s bestfriend” I said.

He laughed.

“Sometimes I think Kayla and Alex are actually a lot more closer”

“They might be” I said referring to Kayla, one of their housemates and Alex’s roommate from college.

He shrugged and began driving.

“Why didn’t you go to school here?” I asked as he waved at one of the surfers.

He chuckled.

“No offense to the lovely city of Santa Cruz, but this city is filled with strange people. It is for visiting not living”

I laughed and he looked at me.

“I’m just being honest here”

My phone rang and I saw it was Bobbi calling.

“It’s your sister” I said.

Mike shrugged.

“Answer it”

I answered the call and put it on speaker.

“Hello” I said.

“Hey, where are you guys?”

“We’re in Santa Cruz. Mike brought me to the beach, and we’re on our way back” I said.

“Oh, you guys could have called me. I would have gone”

I looked at Mike who rolled his eyes.

“You were ignoring my calls so you wouldn’t of have known either way”

I smiled and shook my head at Mike.

“I was not ignoring your calls. I was at lunch with a friend”

Mike rolled his eyes.

“Exactly you were at lunch with a friend. We weren’t going to drop our plans to fit you in”

She stayed quiet and I cleared my throat.

“We’re going out to dinner, come with” I said.

“Yea, ok”

“Ok, we’re going to dinner once Alex gets back from work” I said.

“Cool, I’ll see you then”

“Dress nice, I want a picture” I told her.

She laughed.

“Ok, I’ll let you go”

“Bye then” I said.

“Bye”

I hung up and Mike laughed.

“Are you excited to go back?”

I looked at him.

“Back to Nashville?” I asked.

“Where else are you going back to Lucy?”

“San Jose?” I said.

He smiled and glanced at me.

“Yea, of course. Believe it or not I actually like it in Nashville” I said.

“More than California?”

I smiled.

“I didn’t see myself making a life in Cali” I said.

He nodded.

“I see, well atleast I’ll have a reason to travel east”

I nodded.

“Exactly” I told him.

“I’ll be visiting you after my 21st birthday”

I laughed.

“I know you will” I said.

He glanced at me.

“I saw you bumped into Shawn Johnson”

“I did, she lives in Nashville with her boyfriend” I said.

“Does she go to Vanderbilt?”

I nodded.

“Yea, they both go there actually. I had his boyfriend for an engineering class I took” I said.

He nodded.

“That’s cool, small world”

“Incredibly small” I said looking down at my phone.

He cleared his throat as I replied to a text.

“So did you meet a guy?”

“What?” I asked.

He smiled.

“Alex may not tell you but I will. You’re always smiling at your phone”

“I am not” I told him.

He grinned and nodded as he merged into the highway.

“You’re blushing”

I smacked his arm and all I got was laughter from him.
