Black Water

I've lived in this house since I was 4 and for as long as i could remember the house next door was empty. I never saw anyone ever leave or clean up the yard but it was always perfect. I would walk by at night and see the daily newspaper in the driveway and in the morning it would be gone. My parents say that a older couple lived there long ago but they died years ago.

One day I went and looked through the windows to see what looked like a lived in house. Everything was clean but you could see the signs of someone living there, like a cup sitting on the kitchen table or a trash can that was almost filled.

It looked lived in so why did I never see anyone? I grew up asking these questions over and over again.
