Ask the Angels

Chapter 6.5

The two girls and Dean sat in his office, an awkward silence filled the air as they waited for Sam from Tech to come, the silence was interrupted by a knock; "Come in, shut the door" Dean told him, Sam following suit, "Who are you?" Dean asked him again, as Sam looked at the three pairs of eyes looking at him remembering them all from the dream he had. Molly thinking the same.
"I'm not sure I know" Sam answered truthfully,
"What the Hell does that mean?" Gaby asked, "what the Hell is happening and why did you drag me and Molly up here?" Gaby added, looking at the two men.
"I'm not sure
"I'm Sam Wesson. I started here three weeks ago" Sam tried to explain,
"You cornered me in the elevator talking about ghosts with Gaby. And now..." Dean started,
"Now what?" Sam interrupted, there was another pause as Dean looked towards Gaby and Molly, not thinking it wise to tell them what he was thinking, he didn't want them to think he was a psycho,
"Now nothing. I, uh...so you started working here three weeks ago, huh?" Dean changed the subject, Sam nodded, "yeah, me too"
"So did we" Molly said, gesturing to herself and Gaby,
"Really? Huh" Dean said looking at the two as he unscrewed a the top of a bottle; "It's the Master Cleanse. You tried it? Phenomenal. Detoxes you like nobody's business" Dean said as he drank it.
"When you were in that bathroom with Ian, did you see something?" Sam asked, Dean looked at the girls; again not sure if he should answer, sighing, he said:
"I don't know. I don't know what I saw"
"Wait. Are you saying that—did you see a ghost?" Sam asked. This caused Gaby to give Molly a look, Molly understanding as it referred to her dream,
"I was freaking out. The guy penciled his damn neck!" Dean tried to ration.
"You did, didn't you? Okay, listen. What if these suicides aren't suicides? I mean, what if they're something not natural?" Sam deduced,
"Wait, wait, wait- you saw a ghost?" Gaby asked, Dean looking at her meekly, she turned to Molly- "See, there is definitely going on!" She told her, causing her to look at the boys,
"I guess" She said,
"So what, ghosts are real?" Dean said incredulously, "And they're responsible for all the dead bodies around here? That's what you guys are telling me?" He looked from Sam to Gaby and Molly, as Dean and Sam sat down in unison.
"I know it sounds crazy, but yes- that's what- at least I am telling you" He said, gesturing for the girls to add to it.
"Well, I definitely think something naf is going on. And I'm not ruling out ghosts, if that's what it is" Gaby told them.
"Uh-huh, based on what?" Dean asked.
"Instinct" Sam answered. Dean looked around the room,
"I've got that same instinct" Dean answered truthfully,
"Seriously?" Molly asked,
"Yeah"
"And then it turns out there's a real ghost" Sam said,
"So you're telling me that your dreams are special visions and you're some kind of psychic?" Dean asked Sam, Molly gasped,
"You have them too?" She asked,
"You've had them?" He asked all the same, "No. I mean, us having both had 'visions" would be nuts, right?" He asked Molly, her nodding, he turned to Dean. "All I'm saying is that there is definitely something weird going on around here, right? So I've been digging around a little" He said to everyone in the room. Pulling out some papers out of his bag he told them all;
"I think I found a connection between the two guys" handing the papers to Dean, Gaby looking over his shoulder at them.
"You broke into their email accounts?" Dean asked as Gaby laughed,
"I used some skills that I happen to have to satisfy me curiosity" Sam said with a slight smile, Dean nodding in appreciation,
"Nice" He praised.
"Yeah. Okay. So it turns out Ian and Paul both got this same email telling them to report to HR, room fourteen forty-four" Sam said, explaining the papers, mostly for Molly's benefit as she hadn't had a good look at the papers.
"HR?" Gaby asked, confused.
"HR's on seven" Dean said,
"Exactly"
"We should check it out" Molly said.
"Yeah" Dean said,
"Like right now?" Sam asked,
"No. no, it's getting late, you're right" Dean answered,
"I'm dying to check this out right now" Sam confessed,
"yeah, I want to" Gaby agreed,
"Right?" Dean said. This caused the four to start to head towards their destination,
"What are we now, the ghost busters?" Gaby said, causing a laugh from the other three.

Meanwhile, a man from Tech Support walked into the room numbered 1444, "Hello? Hello?" The man shouted, just as the door slammed shut. Seeing no indication of anyone being in the room with him, he starts to worry. Suddenly, all the monitors abruptly came on, showing only static. he exhaled, but for some reason his breath became very visible- the room becoming colder. Everything rattled.
Outside the four walked slowly, only until they heard yelling coming from room 1444 causing them all to run to the door which was locked.
Sam kicked down the door, as they all rushed in, Dean let out a- "Whoa"- As they all took in the sight before them. A shelf had fallen on a man, so Sam and Dean went to help him. That was when Gaby noticed another presence in the room. Looking forward she saw an old man she had never seen before- it was the same man Dean had seen in the bathroom, he stood behind,
"Dean!" She shouted, warning him, turning around, Dean was flung into a wall by the man with an invisible force, then Shoving Sam over, He made his way towards the girls, causing them to back up into a wall, all the while Dean- who had managed to get up, walked behind him holding a ranch. Before the old man could do anything, Dean swung the wrench at him, causing him to disappear. This caused t"By zapping some model emnd everything to stop shaking, Dean and Sam rushed to help the man from under the shelf, once more. This time with no interference.
"How did you know how to do that? The thing with wrench?" Gaby asked Dean,
"I have no idea?" Dean sighed.

Later on that night, the four were sitting in Dean's luxurious apartment. "I just found the best site ever!" Dean suddenly said, looking at the screen of his laptop. The other three walking towards him. "Real actual ghost hunters! These guys are genius. Check it out" He said as he pulls up a video of two people from a site called Ghostfacers.
They watched as the two paranormal investigators explained to the group about how the first thing to do was to find out what you were up against.
"That's him! That's the ghost!" Dean said, looking at Sam's laptop where an article of him read.
After examining the information in front of them, Gaby explained:
"So P.T Sandover, protector of the company, his ghost wakes up and becomes active during times of grave economic distress"
"So Sandover helps the bottom line-" Sam started, Dean finishing;
"By zapping some model employees"
"Yeah, I mean Ian and Paul- it was like he turned them into different people" Sam explained,
"Perfect worker bees" Dean said,
"So devoted to the company they would commit hara-kiri if they it" Dean said,
"One more interesting fact" Molly said as she scanned the article, "The building wasn't always that high. Used to be 14 floors, and the room where the guy was attacked? Once upon a time was Sandover's office" Molly explained.
Carrying on with the video, they learnt a lot about killing ghosts. They learnt Iron, salt and rocksalt shells were extremely useful when coming up against a ghost and also learnt that there spirit can attach themselves to an object. So after gathering up everything they needed the four of them decided to crack on with the task in front of them.
"Okay, so Gaby you stick with me- Molly, you with Sam. Turn your cells to walkie talkie in case we get separated" Dean instructed everyone.
Everyone was now in room 1444, trying to look for the object to burn, just as a guard came through the door. Sam and Molly were at the front of the room, clearly visible, while Dean had pulled himself out of eye shot- dragging Gaby by the arm to follow his lead.
"What the Hell are you doing here?" The guard asked the two,
"Nothing" Sam said,
"We, eh, we just-"Molly started,
"Come with me" The guard interrupted, dragging the two by their arms, shutting the door behind them.
Sam and Molly were dragged into the lift by the guard, but to their dismay the elevator screeched to a halt. Using his elevator key, the guard pried the doors open, noticing that they were stuck between two floors. "Well come on" The guard said as they all heard a sound.
"What?" Molly screeched,
"Last time this happened, it took two hours to get here" The guard explained,
"Let's just wait" Sam tried. The guard ignoring the two and climbing out.
"Look I don't have the rest of my life!" The guard explained, leaning in. Just as he did the elevator jerked down abruptly, decapitating the guard, blood now sprawled all over a disgusted and terrified Sam and Molly.

Meanwhile, Gaby and Dean had continued looking through the drawers, just as Dean found a photo of Sandover Bridge, he reached to his phone to tell Sam of his find, also ushering Gaby to him.
"Hey. You okay?" Dean asked Sam over the phone, Sam slowly reached towards the phone. Himself and Molly still stuck in one spot.
"Call you back" Sam said.

Dean had told Sam and Molly to meet him and Gaby on floor 22, because they though they thought they had found something.
"Whoa, that's a lot of blood" Dean expressed as Sam and Molly walked towards them, both of them still covered,
"Yeah" Molly said,
"We know" Sam added.
"Right. So, uh, in there" Dean pointed to a case containing a par of gloves.
"P.T Sandover's gloves" Sam expressed.
"Yeah, how much you betting there's a little smidge if DNA in there?" Dean asked,
Gaby adding. "You know, a fingernail clipping? A hair or two, something?"
"So, everyone ready?" Sam asked around the group,
Dean answering for all with, "I have no idea"
Taking a poker each, Sam grabbed a container of salt. "Go for it" Gaby told everyone. Dean smashed the glass just as everyone's breath became visible. Sandover appearing behind Dean flinging him then Sam into a wall. Gaby rushed behind him just as he lifted his hand up to Sam, causing him to spin round and fling Gaby and Molly to the wall. Gaby getting up straight away as if the hit didn't hurt. and swung the poker at him causing him to disappear.
"Nice swing" Sam said, releasing a breath,
"Are you okay?" Dean asked, referring to the wall flinging.
"Yeah, I guess it's the adrenaline" Gaby answered, Suddenly, Sandover appeared behind Gaby. Molly taking a swing. This happened a few more times. Everyone taking a swing at him at least once before Sam grabbed the gloves and a lighter. Burning them, just before Sandover attacked Dean.
"That was..." Molly said,
"Amazing!" Sam finished,
"Oh my God" Gaby laughed.
"Right? Right?" Dean agreed, all of them laughing in excitement and relief.

The next morning, Dean sat in his office. He was thinking about what Sam and Molly had told him about there dreams last night. About how in Sam's dreams they were like brothers, no were brothers- and they actually hunted ghosts for a living.
As Dean aimlessly typed away at his computer, there was a knock on the door. It was Mr Alder,
"Got a minute?" He asked,
"Sure of course" Dean answered.
"How are you feeling, Dean?" He asked,
"Uh, great" Dean answered,
"You look a little tired, been working hard, I gather" He told Dean, Dean agreeing, "Ah- Don't be modest, I hear everything. And I'm pleased with what I'm hearing" Alder said as he sat in front of him. The conversation carried on for a few minutes. When Alder offered Dean a huge sum of money for a bonus. But Dean didn't want it, he had made his decision.
"I am giving in my notice" Dean told him,
"This is a joke. You are kidding me right?" But Dean didn't know how to explain it to him, I mean he couldn't tell him that he was resigning to become a ghost hunter with the guy from tech and the two receptionists. But as Dean stumbled for his words, Mr Alder just grinned, confusing Dean.
"What?" Dean asked him.
"Dean, Dean, Dean" He said, "Finally!" He grinned triumphantly, standing up and placing his hands on Dean's forehead. The action causing Dean to become his self again. Dean Smith was gone, in his place- back again, was Dean Winchester.
"What the Hell?" He exclaimed, "Why am I wearing a tie?" He asked, "God, I'm hungry!"
"Welcome back" Mr Alder laughed, Dean suddenly standing up.
"What. Did I- did I just get touched by- you're an angel aren't you?" Dean stuttered.
"I'm Zachariah" He answered with a smile.
"Oh great. That's all I need is another one of you guys" Dean muttered angrily,
"I'm hardly another one. Dean. I'm Castiel's superior. Believe me, I had no interest in popping down here into ine of these smelly things. Especially with that incident with the weapon" He asked, Dean looking at him in curiosity, "but after the unfortunate experience with her, as well as that with Uriel; I felt it necessary I pay a visit, get my ducks in a row" He mocked.
"I am not one of your ducks!" Dean demanded,
"Starting with your attitude"
"Oh, so what?" Dean asked, "This was all some sort of lesson? Is that what your telling me? Wow. Very creative" Dean fumed, referring to the past few days.
"Not at all " Zach argued, " Real place, real haunting. Just punked you in the middle without the benefit your memories.
"Just to shake things up? Hm? So you guys can have fun watching us all run around like ass clowns in monkey suits?" Dean fumed again,
"To prove to you that the path you're on is truly in your blood, same with everyone involved. You're a hunter. Not because your dad made you. Not because God called you back from Hell. But because it is what you are. And you love it. You'll find your way to it in the dark every single time and you're miserable without it. Dean, let's be real here- you're good at this. You'll be successful. You will stop it."
"Stop what, the apocalypse, huh? Lucifer? What? Be specific, man"
"You'll do everything you are destined to do. All of it, not on your own of course- I mean you got her... But I know, I know- you're not strong enough, you got daddy issues. You can't do it right?" Zach mocked again,
"Angel or not, I will stab your face" Dean warned.
"All I'm saying is it's how you look at it. Most folks live and die without moving anything more that the dirt it takes to bury them. You get to change things" Zach said as Dean turned around, "Save people- maybe even the world, all the while drive a classic car and fornicate with women. This isn't a curse. It's a gift. So for God's sakes, Dean, quit whining about it. Look around, there are plenty of fates worse than yours. So are you with me? You wanna go steam yourself another latte? Or are you ready to stand up and be who you really are?"
