Nicotine

poison

You were more addicting than the nicotine we smoked.

Your arms wrapped around me with as much love and comfort as the smoke had while it filled our lungs and then circled our bodies. Your poison would flood my veins alongside the chemicals in the cigarettes and I would stupidly beg for more. Your temper would snap as easily as one of the smokes we shared and there was never any remorse for the harsh words you yelled.

The day I left was the last time I put out a cigarette. I decided to be free of nicotine, and of you.

Prompt was to include the words nicotine, free, and you in a drabble, so let me know if you like it!
