Rain

and if only

And if she could go back in time to the exact moment where everything fell apart, bring back the bright sun and shining smiles, the intertwined hands and arms around waists, she would do it without a second of hesitation.

And she stepped through the crooked doorway, past the swaying porch swing and down the cracked sidewalk, the pounding of her feet matched the beating of her heart. The dull sky was clouded over and she felt the splash of the rain as it hit her body, melding with the tears that were streaming down her face.

And she thought that it would bring her peace, the fact that she was no longer crying alone. But the rain only made it worse.
