The Lure of a Vampire

Poor, Little Emo Girl

Standing in the kitchen she had grown accustomed to in the last two weeks, staring at a group of Vampires as they chatted and occasionally glanced at her, Chastity realized she was going crazy.

Chastity had no idea why she had agreed to stay willingly, definitely as she had very minimal contact with anyone but Maximus. The other members of the coven seemed to shy away from any type of contact with her unless she was in the presence of their Prince. The lack of “human” contact was starting to wear on her patience.

Her fear of the species was mostly gone now that she realized they didn't drink blood all the time and even then they didn't need much. Max still hadn't drank from her and she was growing anxious. Every evening they spent time together she wondering if it would be the night she would feel that exquisite pain again.

Finishing up washing her dish, the only dish since she was the only one not on a liquid diet, she walked up to the group of three that were congregating close by. There were three of them, all male with pale skin and sharp fangs; not to mention they were hot as hell. Chastity assumed being good looking had to be a prerequisite for Club Vampire.

“Hey,” she said, trying not to sound as scared as she actually was. An unsure series of greetings were murmured as she was given a look by all three men like she had grown a second head or an additional limb. “So what is there to do for fun around here?” When none of them answered her again she sighed, “Come on. Throw me a bone, I'm dying of boredom here. I'm just trying to be nice.”

“It's because there's not much for a human to do,” one of the vampires scoffed. He was taller than the other two by only an inch or so, his body with lithe and covered in a casual tee shirt with jeans. His brown eyes cold and his expression annoyed, “Now run along like a good little Bride.”

Chastity just frowned, “I know that you all don't like me but couldn't we try to be civil? I mean, I'm gonna be stuck here for awhile, I might as well be on good terms with everyone.”

Another snorted a laugh, this one just as intimidating as the others, “You want to try and be friends? Is that an order from our future Queen?”

“Not exactly,” Chastity whispered softly, she was embarrassed. She had put herself out there and was being shot down for her attempt. “Maybe Maximus did not make it clear, humans and vampires are not friends. The only reason you haven't been passed around like the bag of blood you are is because Max would rain hell down upon our heads. None of us want you here and think our Prince could find a much more suitable Bride than some twiggy, emo girl with an inferiority complex. Now why don't you run along and do whatever it is that humans do.”

Tears glistened in Chastity’s eyes at their words, wondering how she could still be a freak among vampires. Without another word she ran off, hearing them laugh boisterously at her retreat.

Chastity ran as fast as she could, barreling up the stairs, barely dodging another group that congregated at the top. She charged down the hall, determined to hide in her bedroom until she was made into a vampire so she wouldn't have to hear their cruel input anymore.

Suddenly, Chastity smacked into a solid wall of man muscle making her cry out as she crumpled to the floor.

“Why are you crying, my Bride,” Max asked as he immediately reached down, his chilly hands grabbing at her arms and hands to aid her to her feet. Chastity allowed his endearment to slide, as she realized she often did even after her own proclimation to her name. As time dragged on, she had grown fond of all the pet names he used for her. “What happened?”

Chastity sniffed as she tried to back away from him, shaking her head, “Nothing, everything is fine.” The last thing she needed were all the vampires in the house to assume she was a tattle tail and would run off to Max every time one of them said anything.

Max frowned as Chastity wiped away the tears on her cheeks, before encircling her shoulder with his arm. “Let's go and sit down, then you can tell me who I need to dismember.”

Chastity allowed him to lead her to the bedroom that they were supposed to share but he had generously forfeited despite his threat to start using it again even if she didn't want him to. It hadn't taken her long to notice that underneath all that hard muscle and mean facade was a kind and gentle vampire.

When they reached the bedroom, Max situated them so they were sitting on the edge of the bed, his arm still around her, “Now tell me what happened.”

“Nothing,” she denied again, “I'm just sensitive.” Emo, she reminded herself of their cruel taunt. Just the poor little emo girl who wanted to make friends and not be a queen to an entire species who viewed her detestfully.

“You were fine when I left you earlier this evening. Now tell me what happened or I will have resort to my earlier tactics of pubishment.” Turning to face her more fully Maximus gently cupped her cheek and stroked it where the bruise had just faded away from. “I would hate to hurt you again, my Bride.”

Frowning, Chastity resisted the urge to lean into him. Often she found herself staring at him, analysing his features and longing for him to hold her, comfort her. “Do you ever regret taking me to make me your bride? I mean, I'm just a stupid human and I'm pretty sure your coven doesn't think I'm a good choice. I'm just a… a blood bag after all.”

“I told you there is a reason for you to be my Bride,” he told her, “Now who called you that. I will punish anyone who questions your place by my side.”

Chastity shook her head, more tears pricked her eyes, “I don't want to make more trouble for myself. They all already hate me and it will only make it worse if I tell on them.”

“Oh my sweet, innocent bride. You just want the world to accept you and that's not how it works at all.” Maximus smiled cruelly before saying, “Besides, when I'm done with the ones who upset you there won't be enough of them to speak against you again.”

Chastity debated telling him again but finally sighed, “There were three of them, they were in the dining room and I tried to talk to them because I'm an idiot and I thought we could… I don't know. Be friends or something.”

“What did they look like?” Chastity described them and Max nodded before standing. Leaning down, he pressed his lips against her forehead in a brief kiss. “Why don't you lay down and rest, I will handle those three.”

“Please don't hurt them, I don't want everyone to hate me more,” she whispered to him, grabbing his wrist pleadingly.

“Don't you worry about any of that. It won't matter once you are completely my Bride, once you are Queen! All the ones speaking against you now will be falling all over themselves to be in your good graces.”

Chastity nodded, seeing his logic and accepting it. Knowing that even if she didn't Max would still do as he wanted. When he left the room, Chastity laid down as Max had suggested and fell into a deep sleep.
