Waking The Dead Out Of The Living

Seduction

Slowly, Charlotte’s eyes fluttered open. It took her time to adjust her eyes to the spinning room, and when it finally stopped spinning, she noticed Seth watching her thoroughly from the side of the bed.
Everything that happened before she fell unconscious rushed back into her mind.
She raised her hand to her neck, and felt a bandage wrapped around it, most likely from the first aid kit in the bathroom.
Looking back at Seth who was still starring at her, she managed to lift her lips into a reassuring smile.
He didn’t return it; instead, he engulfed her into his arms again and sighed.
Charlotte couldn’t help but smile truthfully now, noticing how she was spending a lot of time in Seth’s arms this early morning.
“I was afraid you weren’t going to wake up.” He said. “Or, that you would, except, differently.”
Her heart immediately hammered, hurting the inside of her chest. She couldn’t help but think that this was the way her body was telling her that she’s alive, and not a… vampire?
That must be the most logical explanation for everything that just happened, she thought.
“Charlotte, you don’t know how sorry I am. I don’t know what came over me.” Seth apologized, yet again.
“It’s not your fault.” She told him. “It’s mine. It’s my entire fault.”
His brows furrowed and he started to shake his head but she put a hand to his cheek to stop him.
“No, it is. I turned you into…” She didn’t finish her sentence, afraid to speak the word.
“A vampire.” He finished for her.
She was no longer in his arms; instead, she was sitting across from him on the bed.
She lowered her head, looking at her hands which weren’t covered in blood like they should have been.
Seth must have wiped them, she realized.
“But, the thing is, I’m not one. I don’t get it.” She said, frustrated.
“Me neither.”
After a short silence, Charlotte looked back up at him.
“How do you feel?” She asked. “Do you still feel…thirsty?”
“No, I feel fine. I’m not thirsty anymore.”
She nodded, not really wanting to know more about his new source nourishment.
“Do you know if you can go out into the sun?” She asked hesitantly.
“I don’t know that yet. When I got out it was already dark.” He answered.
“When you got out, how did it feel?” She asked, curiosity suddenly filling her mind.
“It felt weird. Kind of like I had grown two feet taller but lost a hundred pounds. If you can imagine that, then I guess that’s how I felt.”
She nodded, incapable of imagining it.
“Did you go any where else before coming here?”
He shook his head.
“No.” He answered. “But it was weird, because it felt like I was being drawn towards you, as if someone was leading me to your house, except, there wasn’t. Probably that’s a part of the whole vampire thing, you know, since you’re kind of like my “sire”.”
He smiled and chuckled at his last sentence.
Charlotte also laughed, and then noticed how attractive Seth looked at the moment.
A blush suddenly tickled her cheeks.
“So, what else can you do?” She asked him.
He stopped laughing and looked at her quizzically.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you are much stronger than before, when you walk you are so… smooth and you drink blood.” She explained. “In movies and books, usually vampires have some amazing speed, can turn into bats, and can seduce people with their eyes or whatever and… I’m not sure what else.”
Another laugh escaped him and he looked down at himself.
“Well, I don’t think I can turn into a bat, but I’m not sure about the speed.”
“Then let’s find out.” Charlotte said and motioned for him to stand up.
He did.
“OK, now, try to run as fast as you can around my room. There’s not much pace, but just try.”
Seth nodded and positioned himself.
He then took off and ran around her room, the gracefulness of his legs were no longer a surprise.
Though, his speed was fast, as it always was his whole life, it wasn’t inhumanly fast.
He sat back down onto the bed and sighed.
“Well, I guess I don’t have amazing speed.” He said, shrugging. Then, his face changed as he seemed to remember something.
“I can jump.” He said.
Charlotte raised a brow, confused.
“What?”
“I can jump really high.” He repeated. “I mean, really high. That’s how I got onto your roof.”
Charlotte suddenly felt stupid for not thinking about that in the first place.
“Wow, that’s high.” She said and he nodded.
“So, what else?” She asked. “Are you sure you can’t turn into a bat?”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure I can’t.” He laughed.
Charlotte suddenly thought of the other thing she mentioned, but found herself too shy to say it again.
As if reading her thoughts, Seth spoke.
“I don’t know about the “seduction” thing. I didn’t really, try.” He said his voice as awkward as what hers would have been.
“Oh.” Charlotte said. “Well, did you want to just, test it out. Just in case, so it wouldn’t happen by accident.”
Seth nodded reluctantly.
“Are you sure though? Because, you know, it might not be safe.”
Charlotte rolled her eyes.
“We’ll just test it, Seth. It’s not like I’m going to attack you. Anyways, if I do, you’re stronger than me. And it might not even work in the first place.”
Seth nodded again and leaned in towards her.
Charlotte quickly pushed him away.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
He looked at her awkwardly.
“Well, aren’t we supposed to… kiss or something?”
Charlotte chuckled and shook her head.
“No, you just look into my eyes and concentrate.”
He nodded, looking embarrassed and looked into her eyes.
“Now, imagine that you want to seduce me.”
A snort of laughter came from both of them, but they still kept their eyes attached.
Charlotte looked at his dark eyes, not really concentrating since he was the one who was supposed to do that, and he was, she could see it in his face as he slightly squinted.
Her wide smile from her earlier laugh started to disappear and a dazed feeling filled her as she kept looking at him.
It wasn’t long until she felt her head start to fly.
Suddenly, her room seemed to not exist anymore.
Then, the whole world started to disappear and it was only Seth and her.
Her body willingly leaned towards him as his body did the same and her hands quickly tangled in his hair pulling his head towards hers.
When their lips met, his arms circled themselves around her waist, pulling her closer.
Electricity seemed to zap from their mouths, and Charlotte could feel her heart pounding so much she wouldn’t have been surprised if it ripped through her chest.
His lips were awfully cold, but so delicious against hers, moving so gracefully like the rest of him.
She didn’t seem to be in control over her body, neither her mind as she leaned onto her back, Seth leaning over her.
Their lips met again, roughly this time, but shorter. They parted and his mouth began trailed down to her throat.
Charlotte didn’t stop him.
But when his freezing hand slowly slipped under her shirt, it snapped her back to reality.
The whole world re-appeared.
Quickly, Charlotte slipped out from under him, gasping.
Seth confusingly sat down as he noticed that Charlotte was no longer under him
“What are you doing?” Charlotte screeched, but not too loudly as to not wake up her mom.
Seth was blinking his eyes repeatedly as if he too had been seduced.
Charlotte noticed and frowned.
“I-I don’t know.” He then looked at her and widened his eyes. “I don’t think you’re the only one who got seduced.”
