Me and Ms. Watson

Me & Ms. Watson Part 3.

"Yes!, brilliant!" Sherlock yelled enthusiastically while John was making a bottle for his daughter

"Whats brilliant?" John asked peeking into the living room, they were all currently at baker street and Sherlock had Lydia in the living room on the floor

"John your daughter has the ability to identify color. Babies are usually pretty stupid and useless at this stage in life but this girl here, she's a genius!" Sherlock said and John sighed and rolled his eyes, only Sherlock would call a baby stupid and useless

"What makes you think she can do that?" John asked

"I placed three blocks in front of her, would have done two but threes a better challenge. And i said pick the red block and she was able to identify it!" Sherlock said holding the block up and John laughed. Although Sherlock thought babies were stupid over the last few months he has been determined to make Lydia a knowledgeable, determined girl and John absolutely loved that about him.

"Im sures its just a coincidence Sherlock, she's still to young to figure out colors. Hell she's just started saying something that sounds close to dada" John said

"Think what you want but this girl is a genius!" Sherlock said

"Da!" Lydia said tossing a block in Johns direction

"Hey cutie, i'll play in a few minutes" John said and she crawled over to Sherlock and made grab hands at him

"Do you want to be held?" Sherlock asked her

"Ma" she said excited

"Okay, come on" Sherlock said and picked her up and carried her over to the window to look down at the people on the street

An hour later John and Sherlock decided to take Lydia on a nice walk, it was sunny and warm outside so there was no reason to sit in the flat all day. Sherlock took this as his opportunity to talk to John about some things that he's missed while not living at baker street

"See that man over there, incredibly dull. Mrs. Hudson likes him and finds him to be kind but i find him extremely boring" Sherlock told John while pointing at the man across the street who was sitting on a bench talking to who looked to be his wife

"Thats not a very nice thing to say" John said

"Well its true, Hudders invited me and him to dinner one night. Its something i regret" Sherlock said

"I hope this isn't how your telling my daughter to act" John said

"What do you mean?" Sherlock asked

"I hope your not telling her to be like you. Since you clearly were raised in a zoo with no manners" John said

"I was raised with manners, I'm just a very observant-" Sherlock started but got cut off

"Overly outspoken" John pointed out

"Yes well I speak my mind. Something Lydia should do when she gets older" Sherlock said

"I agree but I just hope she doesn't get your meanness from spending all this time with you" John said and Lydia started crying so John stopped

"Yes I know, your father is steering out of control. He's hit two pot holes. This is why he doesn't get behind the wheel of a vehicle" Sherlock said and John sighed

"Pick her up. She's probably tired of sitting" John said

"Very well" Sherlock said picking up Lydia and she stopped crying and laid her head on Sherlocks shoulder

"All better now?" John asked Lydia while they continued to walk

"She's quite content" Sherlock said

"Well thats because she's comfortable in your arms. Feels safe there" John said smiling and he could see the slightest bit of affection on Sherlocks face before Lydia leaned up and grabbed some of his hair

"Oww!. Let go, my hair is not something to play with" Sherlock said trying to pull her little hands off his hair

"She's always grabbing hair. She'll let go eventually" John said

"Lydia, please let go" Sherlock said and Lydia grabbed the other side of his head and pulled his head down so she could bite the curls on his forehead while holding hair in both hands

"Lydia let go, your hurting uncle Sherlock" John said and they stopped walking

"She really loves hair, huh?" Sherlock said

"Unfortunately. Pulled a few strands from Marys head the other night" John said trying to release her grip on Sherlock

"Ah da!" Lydia said while trying to head but Sherlock

"Yes ah da. Now let go!" Sherlock said

"Come on Lydia back in the stroller" John said grabbing her by the waist and she let go of Sherlock completely and John set her in the stroller and handed her a rattle

"Thank you. Oh!, by the way. My brother sent over a little gift for you guys as a congratulations for having Lydia" Sherlock said

"Oh, thats very nice of him. What is it?" John asked

"An entire set of children's books" Sherlock said

"Thats great. How many books are there?" John asked

"Fifty" Sherlock said

"Oh boy" John said overwhelmed
