There's still no sign of Caleb. No noise at all. When would he be here? The light begins to flicker, the generator is almost out of gas and there's only half a jug left. I turn the generator off, empty the remaining gas into it, and turn it back on. That would only last me until tomorrow morning. If Caleb isn't back by then I need to go on my own, I can't wait here for much longer.
I gather the map and compass and lay it out on the floor. Don't draw your path. If someone gets this map they will know exactly where to go to find you. Did you memorize the coordinates? Of course you did, you're brilliant. Follow my finger, this is the path you want to walk. Memorize it. I follow the path with my finger, remembering each turn to take. It should take me less than three days to get there. I fold up the map and replace it back on the shelf.
