I can't believe that THE Arsen Valentine asked me out! After he left I just stood there not really sure of what had happened and too afraid to move in case I woke up. I knew right when he told me his name exactly who he was. I had already researched this place before I came here and the Valentine family was very well known. He was a sort of gang leader if one could say. He was loaded with money and had connections on every part of the world. For years he had been in this town cleaning it up from crime, drugs, even human trafficking.

The town had never been better and when they were in need a Valentine was always there to help. Of course I had gotten a whole speech about them from Daisy. She had moved here about three months ago and had more than her fair share of witnessing on their account. Daisy had also mentioned she was crushing on one of them. Oh no! What if the one she liked was Arsen? I would have to cancel! I can't do that to her she's my friend.

I have to go look for her and ask her. My mind kept going back to the kisses he gave me and I couldn't help but get all hot and bothered. I went back into the main area where I had seen her at the front desk. She was alone and looking thru a stack of books near her.

"Hey Daisy." I approached her cautiously.

"Hi Emily, how are you?" she said looking up at me with a smile. I wasn't sure how to ask her but what the hell.

"Daisy, can I ask you something?" I said a bit nervously. "You remember that you told me you like a Valentine?" her eyes widened and she blushed as she nodded. "Can... can you tell me who it is?" She became a darker shade of red but complied.

"Yes, of course..." she was still red, "his name is Dmitri." I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding.

"Was that the guy I saw you with earlier?" I asked as things started to click.

"Yes, he... he came to ask me out." I smiled at that. I'm so relieved to know it's not Arsen the one she likes. "You have something you want to tell me?" Damn. I hate how she sees right through me.

"I'm so happy for you!"

"Thanks, but I know it's not that so spill." Well, I was going to tell her eventually.

"Arsen Valentine asked me out to dinner tonight." I somehow muster up the courage to say it out loud to her. Her mouth dropped wide open and I think for once I have left her speechless.

"Dmitri's brother asked you out?"

"Yes, well, right after he finished mauling me."

"Oh My God! You kissed THE Arsen Valentine? Come to think of it I did see him come and leave here with Dmitri. Oh! You have got to tell me everything!" she began jumping up and down.

"Ok," I couldn't contain my laughter at her, "I will tell you everything when we head over to my place and you help me pick an outfit. I'm just so glad he isn't the one you like." that made her stop jumping.

"Don't get me wrong, Em, Arsen is a very good looking guy but there is something about him that makes me a little scared of him. Dmitri can also be a bit like that but it's easier to like him he's so charming and gentle and I feel a strong connection to him." she did have a point there but there was also something about Arsen that got my temperature rising and pushed me to say yes when a few minutes ago I had turned someone else down.

"You're right, well let me head back to work and we'll talk later, ok?"

"You better not hold back!" I smile at that and start heading back to the storage area. Once in there I go to where we stored the new shipment of books and begin to unpack them. Through one of the small window that points to the woods outside I hear a loud howl and my only thought at that moment was Arsen. Strange.

*Arsen*

"What's the hurry, Bro?" I stop running down the steps of the library and turn to my brother behind me. "What's gotten into you?" That's right he doesn't know.

"I found my mate and we have a date tonight." his eyes widen at the news I just dropped on him.

"In there?" he points back at the library. I roll my eyes.

"No at the supermarket, dumbass, of course in there!"

"Congrats man, so who is the lucky lady?" he says patting me on the back.

"She's Kate Silver's granddaughter. The one that just moved here about a month ago after her passing. I think Kate left her everything." I already knew that Kate had a granddaughter and they have very similar scents. My brother's face became a bit pale at the news.

"Are you daft? Kate was rouge and a Silver. Her pack abandoned her when she killed their Alpha."

"In self-defense! He had killed her mate and then tried to rape her." I knew the whole story. Regardless of the Elders warning everyone to stay away from that lady, I would often visit her. She was the kindest soul I ever met and one night when she was at her worst I found her lying on her floor half dead. I helped heal her and she had told me everything that happened to her. The weird part was that after he attacked her she had no recollection of what happened. At that moment I had promised her that if anyone ever tried to hurt her I would be there to defend her.

"Ok, your right she was a nice lady, but that aside she was still a Silver and they are our enemies. Our father only let her stay because she was our grandmother’s best friend and did it for her. You will have to tell the Elders and they are not going to like this.”

"Don't worry, let me handle them." I turn back and continue making my way towards the woods behind the library to change. "I have to get home and get ready! I'll see you there!" I yell back at my brother and see his amused expression before hiding behind the bushes. Shit, he's going to tell our other brothers I'm already whipped and they're not going to let me live this down. Oh well, I'm too glad having found my mate. My change is quick and painless, all I feel is a tingle rush through my skin. It's like the feeling you get when your leg falls asleep.

My wolf is finally free and he lets out a howl from the excitement. He tends to get a little grumpy when I keep from shifting for too long and he hadn't gotten his morning run because of Dmitri's insisting I accompany him to check on his mate. At this point I couldn't care less. I found the one meant for me and I had to do everything in my power to keep her.

I neared the four story mansion, were all my pack and I lived, and shifted back to human form. As I walked up to the front door it was opened by Jerry, one of the older pack members.

"Alpha." he said as he bowed his head to me. Dammit here we go. I rolled my eyes. I really hated when they did that but as many of the Elders had told me, it was part of tradition. I guess I still had to get used to it.

"Jerry, please, stop that," I knew that no matter how many times I told him he would still do it though. "I have fantastic news and I need you to please gather everyone in the main meeting room. Including the Elders." he looked up at me and studied me for a moment then a smile appeared on his face.

"You found your mate, congratulations Alpha." he bowed his head once more. What the fuck? Now it was my turn to be shocked.

"How did you know that?"

"You have the same expression on your face as your father did when he found your mother and I when I found my sweet Claire." I couldn't help but smile at that. When wolves mated it was for life and the fates never made a couple that despised each other. My parents have been happily mated for years and of course they had myself and my nine other brothers to show for it.

"Thank you, Jerry, please take care to gather everyone." I said as I made my way over to my room to shower and change. As soon as I entered the main meeting room I saw everyone stand and bow their heads. "Please take a seat everyone." I stood at the front of the meeting room, too restless to sit down. "I asked to gather everyone here for I have important news." I waited to see if everyone was paying attention. "I have found my mate." everyone began to cheer and congratulate me and began to ask who she was. Here goes. "She is the granddaughter of Katherine Silver." suddenly everyone grew quiet. One of the five Elders stood to speak.

"That is preposterous!" Oh fuck this! My wolf was in a rage. Are they not accepting her? I growled at him allowing some of my wolf to show and he paled and sat down.

"You will not deny my mate! She will not be held accountable for the actions of her grandmother! Yes, she is a Silver but our law forbids anyone from denying a wolf their fated mate!" These fuckers think to challenge me on it, then a challenge they will get. Everybody’s eyes were lowered to the ground and they began to bare their necks as a sign of submission and pleading to be forgiven. "If I so as much see anyone breathe wrongly at her you will answer to me. Do I make myself clear?”

“Yes, Alpha.” They all said in unison.

“Meeting dismissed." after the Elders left I was surprised to see everyone else remain in their place. Raising my eyebrow I waited for an explanation as to why they were still here.

"We do not deny your mate, Alpha." said a small voice in the middle of the group. They all moved so I could see who spoke. It was my 17 year old cousin, Nicole. "Many of the Elders never took the time to know Kate's story but I think it's safe to say that everyone here respected her. I will personally be glad to have her granddaughter as a new cousin." she lowered her head and the rest of the room did the same. That calmed my beast down. The only problem seemed to be the Elders. I'll have to keep an eye on them.

"Thank you, dear cousin." with that settled I dismissed them once more and set off to make dinner plans for tonight. I would do everything in my power to make sure she was accepted here.
