We Could Be Something

100: The Dress

“Are you sure that you don’t mind looking after both of them for a couple of hours?” Adriana quipped as she padded into the bedroom, her blue eyes peeking towards Iker who was sat on their bed, Luca napping happily on his chest.

It had been a couple of weeks, after Clarissa’s impromptu visit, things had been pretty quick to settle down, and whilst it had caught Adriana a little off guard, she was pleased that things had settled quickly, even if she had yet to make a decision whether or not to invite the older woman to their wedding, she was glad that Clarissa hadn’t stuck around.

Iker, who was watching Luca sleep, jumped a little at the sound of Adriana’s voice before he lifted his head, offering her a small smile. “I think I can handle it” he mused softly “It’s not like it is the first time” he added, gently shifting the sleeping baby so that he could sit up a little.

Adriana rolled her eyes a little before she shook her head. “I was just checking” she noted softly “I mean, I could be gone for a lot of the day and I just wanted to make sure…”

“Addie, we’re going to be fine” Iker interjected, a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth “I’ve looked after the two of them before and I am sure that I will be able to cope, but if not, I promise you, I will call. But you don’t need to worry about that. What you need to worry about is trying to find the dress you want to wear when we get married” he added, his tone warm and encouraging. He knew that she was a worrier, throughout their relationship, she had tended to worry over the little things, and he wanted to encourage her to relax a little.

Adriana, who’d moved to collect her jacket from the wardrobe, offered him a slightly dubious look, something which made Iker chuckle a little before he carefully pushed himself to his feet, moving to press a soft kiss against her head. “I’ll be fine, nena” he assured her softly.

Adriana leant into him for a couple of seconds, enjoying their embrace, before the sound of someone clearing their throat reached them, causing her to pull away, her blue eyes settling on Ella who stood in the doorway, Olivia settled on her hip. “I hate to interrupt” she mused softly “But I think someone might be looking for her mama or papa” she added, sparing a small look towards Olivia who pouted a little.

Iker offered the little girl a soft look before he nodded his head dutifully. “I will take her” he mused softly “I’ll see you later?” he added, flicking his attention towards Adriana.

Adriana nodded her head a little before she pushed herself up onto her toes, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. “I shouldn’t be gone for too long” she mumbled softly.

Iker quirked an amused smile. “You’re looking for your wedding dress, Addie” he commented “I fully expect you to be gone all day” he added impishly before he moved to collect Olivia from Ella’s arms, allowing him to pad out of the room.

Adriana watched after him for a couple of seconds before she playfully rolled her eyes, something which made Ella smile softly.

She had been a little worried, when Adriana had agreed to move to Lyon with Iker, she had been slightly concerned that things between her friend and her fiancé would peter out, but she was glad to see that things were still going well for the two of them, even if it had taken them a little while to settle into their new home, she was pleased that Adriana and Iker still seemed happy together.

“You know, I still can’t quite believe that you’re getting married, Ana”

Adriana, who was flicking through a rack of wedding dresses, jumped a little at the sound of Ella’s voice before she shook her head. “You thought it wouldn’t happen?” she quipped, a teasing grin on her face. It had been a pleasant few hours, after they’d left the house, they’d visited a couple of shops, and Adriana was enjoying herself, even if they’d yet to find a dress that she liked, she was enjoying spending some time with her friend.

Ella, who was sat a little away from Adriana, shrugged a little. “I thought you and Jon would go the distance” she mused softly “But after that fell apart, I thought it would take you a long time to move on, but I am more than happy for you. Iker…he’s the type of guy you hold on to, no matter what” she enthused brightly.

She had had her doubts, after things between Adriana and Jonathan had fallen apart, a small part of her had worried that it would take Adriana a long time to get over it, but she was pleased that she had moved on with Iker, even if they had had a few ups and downs, she was pleased that her friend had managed to keep a hold of the keeper.

Adriana mulled her friend’s words over for a couple of seconds before she quirked a small smile. “He is pretty wonderful, isn’t he?” she mumbled bashfully, a small hue of pink playing on her cheeks.

Ella giggled a little at the expression on her friend’s face before she stepped towards the rack of dresses that Adriana was flicking through, collecting one. “You should go and try this one on” she mused softly, handing it over to the blonde.

Adriana eyed it for a couple of seconds, admiring it slightly, before she quirked a small smile, moving to carry it towards the changing room.

Settling her bag down beside the door, Adriana spared a small sigh, glad to be home. It had been a long day, with Adriana having had a pretty clear idea of what it was she was looking for when it came to her wedding dress, she and Ella had ended up visiting more than one shop, but she was pleased with the outcome. The dress that she had found was exactly what she had been looking for and had been worth the effort in finding it.

Pulling her hair up into a ponytail, she carefully shrugged out of her jacket before she padded through towards the living room, her blue eyes settling on Iker who was sat on the couch, reading a book to Olivia who sat in his lap. Pausing for a second, she admired the two of them before she quirked a small smile.

“I know you’re there, you know”

Adriana, who’d drifted off a little, startled a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she shook her head, moving to settle on the couch beside him. “I didn’t mean to interrupt” she mused, offering a small smile towards Olivia who sat on Iker’s lap, smiling up at him softly.

“It’s OK. I have just finished reading the story to her anyway” Iker mused softly “You’re back a little earlier than I expected” he added, offering her an impish grin.

Adriana rolled her eyes a little, something which made Iker chuckle softly. “I’m joking” he noted softly “Did you find what it was you were looking for?” he posed gently.

Adriana quirked a small smile and nodded her head. “It took us a little work” she mused softly “I had a pretty good idea of what it was that I was trying to find, but we found it in the end” she enthused happily.

Iker admired the bright smile that had formed on Adriana’s face for a couple of seconds before he shook his head. “Do I get a sneak preview?” he posed, a boyish grin on his face.

Adriana scoffed. “You’re not seeing it until we make it up the aisle, senor” she quipped, a bright smile on her face.

Iker rolled his eyes playfully, something which made Adriana giggle before she leant into him, pressing a soft kiss against his lips. She knew that they still had a way to go, the date that they chose for their wedding was still a little over 6 months away from them, but already she felt a little excited, even if they did still have a way to go. Part of her couldn’t wait to take the next step in their relationship.
