We Could Be Something

101: Thinking Ahead

Wrinkling his nose a little, Iker peeked one of his eyes open, his ears plied with the muffled sound of voices. It was early, from the amount of sunlight which filtered into the bedroom, it couldn’t have been a lot later than half past seven, and Iker was a little surprised to hear voices, even if it was Christmas morning, a part of him had been hoping to sleep in for a while. Allowing a yawn to fall out of his mouth, he pushed a hand back through his hair before he sat up a little, swinging his feet to the floor.

“We didn’t mean to wake you”

Iker, who’d moved to collect a pair of shorts from his dresser, jumped a little at the sound of Adriana’s voice before he lifted his head, offering her a sleepy smile. “What time is it?” he posed softly.

“It’s about ten to eight” Adriana replied “But your parents have just arrived downstairs and I don’t think my papa will be too far behind. They seem pretty excited about the prospect of spending time with Olivia and Luca” she added, offering him a soft smile.

Iker, who’d pulled on his shorts, nodded his head a little before he stepped towards her, pressing a soft kiss against her lips. “Merry Christmas, mi amor” he mumbled, resting his forehead against hers.

Adriana cuddled into him for a couple of seconds, enjoying their embrace, before the sound of Luca’s whimpers emanated away from the monitor, causing them to pull apart slightly. “Do you want me to go and check on him?” Iker mumbled between light kisses.

“Do you mind?” Adriana replied “I mean, I love your parents, but I would like to take a shower and get dressed. They sort of caught me off guard” she added, a small hint of pink playing on her cheeks.

Iker admired the soft hue of pink for a couple of seconds before he ducked down, pressing a soft kiss against the warm skin. “I’ll handle it” he mumbled.

Adriana offered him a soft look, wordlessly asking him if he was sure, before she pressed a brief kiss against his lips. “Thank you” she mused softly before she padded out of the room.

Iker watched after her for a couple of seconds before he followed after her, making his way into Luca’s nursery where the little boy sat, whimpering softly. Quirking a small smile, he padded towards the crib and lifted the little boy up, pressing a soft kiss to the top of his head. “Merry Christmas, little one” he mumbled softly.

“What’s this, Olivia?” Iker grinned as he carefully lifted Olivia up, settling her down in his lap. It had been a busy morning, with his parents and Adriana’s father keen to make a fuss of Olivia and Luca, his home had been a hive of activity, but Iker had to admit that he was enjoying himself, even if it had been a little hectic, he had enjoyed the excitement that had filled the house since he’d woken up.

Ensuring that Olivia was settled down, he carefully moved to pick up one of her presents, settling it in the hands of the little girl who gently tugged at the paper. “What did your madre buy for you, eh?” he teased, pressing a kiss to the little girl’s forehead.

“You two are adorable, you know that?”

Iker, who was helping Olivia to pull the paper off of the new set of clothes that Adriana had bought for her, jumped a little at the sound of Adriana’s voice before he lifted his head, peeking towards where she stood, Luca babbling happily in her arms. “What’ve you done with everyone else?” he posed gently.

Adriana, who’d moved to sit on the couch, smiled. “Your parents are upstairs on the phone to your brother and my dad is in the kitchen, using my laptop to video chat with Nico whilst keeping an eye on dinner. What are you two up to?” she posed, her fingertips adjusting the bow which had been clipped into Olivia’s blonde hair.

Iker watched her for a couple of seconds before he shrugged. “I was just helping Olivia to open a couple more presents” he mused softly “Do you want to take over?” he added, offering her a soft look.

Adriana admired the expression on his face before she shook her head, moving to lean back against the couch. “You’re doing a pretty good job” she teased impishly.

Iker playfully rolled his eyes before he flicked his attention back towards Olivia, moving to collect another gift from beneath the tree. “Look, Olivia” he enthused softly “You’ve got another one” he added, gently tickling her sides.

Olivia squeaked with laughter before she turned around, settling her little hands on Iker’s cheeks. Quirking a small smile, Iker pressed a soft kiss to each of her palms, something which made the little girl grin brightly. “Papa” she giggled.

Iker offered her another soft smile before he shifted the present, offering it towards the little girl who tugged happily at the wrapping paper.

Adriana, who’d moved to settle Luca down beside her, watched Iker and Olivia for a couple of minutes before she quirked a small smile, moving to press a light kiss against the top of Iker’s head.

Iker jumped a little at the feeling of her lips against his head before he looked up at her, offering her a small smile. “What was that for?” he teased impishly.

Adriana rolled her eyes. “Can’t I just want to kiss you every now and again?” she quipped teasingly.

Iker offered her another impish smile before he turned his attention back towards Olivia, waving another present in front of her.

“Do you ever think about having another one?” Adriana posed, breaking the comfortable quiet which had settled around them.

Iker, who’d moved to settle Olivia onto her feet, startled a little at the sound of Adriana’s voice before he tilted his head. “You’ve thought about that?” he posed softly.

Adriana shrugged. “I’ve thought about a lot of things” she noted softly “I mean, these two are still very little and I don’t think I’d want it to happen for a little while, but it is a thought that has crossed my mind” she admitted softly.

Iker mulled her words over for a couple of seconds before he quirked a small smile. “I’d love another one” he admitted softly “But you’re right, Olivia and Luca are still young and we’re in no hurry. Maybe it is something to think about once the wedding is over with” he mused softly, his hand gently squeezing hers which fiddled nervously with the hem of her sweater.

Adriana allowed his words to linger for a couple of seconds before she nodded her head, offering him a soft smile. “I think that that sounds like an idea” she enthused softly.

Iker offered her another bright smile before the sound of his mother calling his name reached his ears, causing him to roll his eyes playfully before he padded out of the room.

Adriana watched after him for a couple of seconds before she shook her head, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. It had taken them some time, after Olivia and then Luca had come along, she and Iker had had a few hiccups, but she was glad that things had worked out for the two of them and she was excited by the idea that they were planning ahead.
