We Could Be Something

102: It’s Not Like We Have Other Plans

“Is this really how you want to spend New Year’s Eve?” Iker posed as he padded into the living room, settling two mugs of tea onto the coffee table. It had been a few days, after Christmas, they had spent a few days with the visiting relatives, but when Rafael had offered to take Olivia and Luca for the night, Adriana had jumped at the opportunity, something which had caught Iker a little off guard. He had been expecting that the night ahead of them would be a little more hectic than the one that Adriana had planned out for them.

Adriana, who was flicking through a wedding magazine, jumped a little at the sound of his voice before she looked up, offering him a small smile. “It is” she confirmed softly “But, if you had something else in mind…”

“I didn’t” Iker interjected softly as he took the seat next to her “But I was expecting that you’d want to do something else. The last couple of years, you’ve been pregnant at new years and I thought…I thought maybe you’d want to head out” he added gently.

Adriana, who’d moved to shuffle a little closer to him, shrugged a little. “I gave it some thought” she admitted softly “But then my papa offered to watch Olivia and Luca for a little while and I figured we could have a quiet night in. Are you sure that you don’t mind?” she posed, peeking up at him softly.

Iker admired the soft expression on her face for a couple of seconds before he shook his head. “Not at all” he mused softly “In fact, a quiet night in sounds pretty good to me” he added, pressing a soft kiss to the side of her head.

It had been a little while, since their move to Lyon, opportunities for the two of them to spend time alone together had been few and far between, and part of Iker was excited by the prospect of a quiet night in, even if he was a little surprised that it was what Adriana wanted to do. Part of him was glad to have a little time alone with her.

Adriana smiled a little at the feel of her lips on the side of her head before she carefully pulled away from him, moving to collect the wedding magazine which she had set on the coffee table before she flicked it open, scanning the article she had been reading.

Iker watched her for a couple of seconds before he leant into her slightly, pressing another soft kiss against the side of her head. “How is planning our wedding coming along?” he mumbled softly.

Adriana, who’d been reading the magazine, startled a little at his question before she tilted her head, offering him a small smile. “You want to know?” she teased softly.

Iker rolled his eyes playfully before he nodded. “It’s only 6 months away” he noted softly “ And I think I should probably have an idea of what it is that’s going on when the day arrives. How far have you and Ella got?” he posed, coaxing her into a soft hug.

It wasn’t something that they’d talked a lot about, with the date that they had chosen still 6 months away, Iker had been more than happy for Adriana to enlist Ella’s help in making a start on planning, but he was a little curious, even if they were still months away from the big day, he wanted to know how their wedding plans were progressing.

Adriana quirked a small smile at the sound of his words before she lifted her head, offering him a soft look. “We’ve made a start” she noted softly “I mean, I’ve already bought my dress, but other than that things are moving pretty slowly. I would love to get your input too, though. Do you think that this is something you can do?” she added, offering him a small impish smile as she moved to rest her head against his shoulder.

Iker playfully rolled his eyes before he nodded. “I think I can handle it” he mused softly “What do you want to start with?” he added as he moved to push himself to his feet, moving to collect a pen and a notepad from a nearby shelf.

Adriana tilted her head. “You want to start now?” she posed, her tone caught between surprised and amused.

Iker quirked an impish smile before he nodded his head. “It’s not like we’ve got many other plans for the night” he quipped as he sat down beside her.

Adriana admired the soft smile on his face for a couple of seconds before she ducked towards him, pressing a soft kiss against his lips. It was still a little way away, their wedding wasn’t for another 6 months, but already Adriana was excited, even if there was still a lot of work to do. Part of her was already counting down the days until they got married.

Sparing a small yawn into his hand, Iker carefully pushed the front door closed before he padded towards the stairs, Luca’s carrycot in his hand and Olivia sleeping against his shoulder.

It had been a quiet night, he and Adriana had spent a couple of hours discussing their wedding plans before they’d settled in to watch a film, and Iker had to admit that he had enjoyed himself, even if it had been a quieter night than he had been expecting, he had enjoyed spending time alone with Adriana.

Allowing another yawn to fall out of his mouth, he carefully padded into Olivia’s bedroom before he settled the little girl down into her crib before he pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head.

“Dulces sueños, mi princesa” he mumbled quietly before he padded across the hall, carefully moving to lay Luca in his crib. Mumbling a soft ‘goodnight’, he pressed a light kiss to the top of Luca’s head before he collected the monitor, quietly leaving the little boy’s bed room before he made his way down the hall, pushing the door to his own bedroom open.

“Are they both asleep?”

Iker, who’d moved to settle Luca’s monitor on the end table, jumped a little at the sound of Adriana’s voice before he lifted his head, his dark eyes settling on the blonde who sat at the foot of the bed, running a brush through her hair. “They are” he confirmed softly “From the way your papa tells it, they gave him a pretty hectic night. They’re probably tired out” he added, offering her a small smile.

Adriana shook her head amusedly before she moved to settle her brush on the night stand, moving to settle beneath the duvet. “Are you coming to bed at some time?” she posed, offering him a small smile.

Iker, who’d moved to shuffle out of his trousers, playfully rolled his eyes a little before he stepped towards her, pressing a soft kiss against her lips. “Happy new year, Addie” he mumbled softly between light kisses.

Adriana quirked a small smile at his words before she snuck a couple more kisses, wordlessly hoping that the year ahead of them was a good one for them.
