We Could Be Something

106: It’s Obvious

Letting a small sigh fall out of her mouth, Adriana spared a small look towards the alarm clock which stood on the nightstand, her blue eyes studying the time. She knew that it was early, from the lack of light which filtered into the bedroom that Ella had been quick to offer her for the night, she knew that it was still too early to contemplate getting out of her bed, but with the hit of butterflies which twitched in her stomach, she doubted that she would fall back to sleep, even if she wanted to, part of her was merely too excited.

It had been a few days, after she and Iker had arrived in Porto, they’d spent a lot of time with their friends and family ahead of their wedding day as well as ensuring that everything was in place, but with the morning of their wedding day having arrived, Adriana was excited, even if a small part of her was slightly nervous at the prospect of something going wrong. Part of her couldn’t wait to walk up the aisle.

Sparing another small look towards the alarm clock, she allowed a small yawn to fall out of her mouth before she spotted the bedroom door opening slightly, causing her to tilt her head, her blue eyes watching as Ella stepped into the room, a tray of food balanced precariously in her hands.

“Ella?” Adriana posed.

Ella, who’d been focussed on not dropping the tray, startled a little at the sound of Adriana’s voice before she lifted her head, offer the blonde a small smile. “I figured you’d be awake” she mused softly “And, being the good maid of honour that I am, I’ve bought you some breakfast. Are you hungry?” she posed, padding a little further into the room.

Adriana, who’d moved to make room at her side, shrugged, something which made Ella laugh a little before she sat down on the side of the bed. “You’re excited, aren’t you?” she posed softly.

It wasn’t something that they’d talked a lot about, since Adriana had arrived in Porto, a lot of her time had been spent ensuring that things were set up to go off without a hitch, but Ella wanted to ensure that Adriana was excited about the idea of getting married, even if she was a little nervous, the other woman wanted to be sure that Adriana was sure of what she was doing.

Adriana, who’d moved to sip at the mug of tea that Ella had bought for her, nodded her head softly. “I am” she confirmed softly “I mean, I’m nervous about it, of course I am, but mostly, I am excited about the idea that by this time tomorrow, I am going to have a husband” she babbled softly, her fingertips shyly playing with the bottom of her pyjama shirt.

Ella watched her for a couple of seconds before she shook her head, a soft smile playing at the corner of her mouth. “You have nothing to be worried about, Ana” she mused, moving to steal a piece of toast from the plate which sat on the tray between the two of them “Iker’s mother is going to the hotel this morning to make sure that everything is set up and your padre is going to the church. We’ve got everything covered, Ana, and all you need to be worried about is making sure that you look perfect, something we both know that you will. It’s going to be fine, Ana” she grinned, moving to squeeze Adriana’s hand.

Adriana offered her a slightly dubious look, something which made Ella offer her hand another soft squeeze. “It’s going to be fine, Ana” she enthused softly “And if there are a couple of hiccups, so what? You’re getting married, Adriana” she added brightly.

Adriana mulled over her words for a couple of seconds before she quirked a small smile, knowing that Ella was right.

“Did you actually go to bed last night or did you just sit out here?”

Iker, who’d been vaguely staring the television screen ahead of him, startled at the sound of Sergio’s voice before he lifted his head, offering the defender a small glare. It was early, when Iker had last looked at his phone, the time had read a little after seven in the morning, but after he’d woken up for the first time, he hadn’t been able to get back to sleep, even if he had tried, the butterflies which twitched in his stomach had prevented it.

Sergio, who’d moved to sit on the couch beside the keeper, nudged his shoulder softly. “Seriously” he noted “It’s barely 7:30. How long’ve you been out here?” he posed gently.

Iker offered him a soft look before he shrugged. “A while” he noted softly “I got a few hours of sleep after we got back here last night, but I woke up at about 5 and since then, I’ve been sat here watching TV” he added, moving to rest his head back against the couch.

Sergio watched him for a couple of seconds before he shook his head. “I can’t believe how nervous you are” he quipped teasingly, breaking the comfortable silence which had settled between the two of them.

Iker shook his head. “I’m not nervous” he mumbled.

Sergio snorted a little before he shook his head, carefully nudging the keeper’s shoulder softly. “You know” he mused softly “You have absolutely no reason to be worried, Iker. I’ve seen Adriana when she is around you, she lights up, and even if something was to go wrong today, I am sure that she wouldn’t care. She loves you, hombre, it’s obvious” he enthused softly.

He knew that Iker was worried, from the moment he had sat down, the keeper had appeared uncertain and shy, and Sergio wanted to offer him a little reassurance, even if he was confident that things would be perfect for Iker and Adriana, he could tell that it was something that Iker needed to hear.

Iker mulled his words over for a second before he tilted his head. “You really think that?” he posed softly.

“I do” Sergio confirmed “I mean, I don’t know Adriana all that well, but I have seen her face when she talks about you or when you’re around her. She loves you, Iker, and I know you love her too and that means you’ve got nothing to worry about. You two are going to be fine” he enthused brightly before he pushed himself to his feet, mumbling something about needing coffee before he padded out of the room.

Iker watched him go for a couple of seconds before he shook his head. He knew that Sergio was right, regardless of how things went on the day, the important thing was that he and Adriana got married, but still part of him of was nervous, even if he was excited about the idea of him and Adriana making it up the aisle, part of him was still worried about the idea that something could go wrong.
