We Could Be Something

116: Glad To Be Home

Sparing a small look down towards his watch, Iker lifted his head, his dark eyes peeking around the busy airport terminal. It had been a little while, since he had left Madrid to return to Lyon for pre-season training, a little over a week had passed, and whilst he knew that it was a little sentimental to have missed Adriana and their children, part of him couldn’t wait to see them again, even if it had only been a matter of days, he couldn’t wait to hug Olivia and Luca or kiss his wife.

Sparing another soft look down towards his watch, he shifted his feet a little before he felt something nudge against his leg, causing him to peek down, his dark eyes admiring Olivia who stood ahead of him, a wide grin on her face. “Papa!” she squeaked, throwing her arms up in the air, asking for Iker to lift her up.

Iker blinked a couple of times, slightly caught off guard by her arrival.

“You know” Adriana quipped as she padded up beside her husband “You really ought to pick her up. She’ll only pout if you don’t” she added, her tone soft and teasing as she came to a halt beside Iker who peeked at her, a soft smile on his face.

Admiring Adriana for a second, he quirked a brief smile before he carefully leant down, lifting Olivia off of her feet. “Hola, princesa” he mumbled, pressing a soft kiss against her head.

Adriana admired the two of them for a couple of seconds before she stepped towards him, playfully nudging his ribs. “Don’t we get a hello too, Iker?” she posed, offering him an impish smile.

Iker, who’d been babbling happily to Olivia, startled a little at the slight nudge against his ribs before he lifted his head, offering Adriana a soft smile. “Of course you do” he noted softly “Hola, Luca” he mused playfully, his finger lightly touching the cheek of the toddler who slept happily in his mother’s arms.

Adriana quirked a soft smile before she shook her head, pushing herself up onto her toes before she pressed a soft kiss against Iker’s lips, something which made the keeper chuckle a little before he ducked back slightly, a soft smile playing at the corner of his mouth. “Hola, Addie” he mused playfully “You ready to head home?” he added, his tone softening a little.

Adriana noted the tone of his voice before she nodded her head. “I can’t think of anything I would like more than that” she mused softly.

Iker offered her a soft smile before he offered her his spare hand, lacing their fingers together. “Then we should get moving” he noted, his hand squeezing hers gently. He knew that it was a little sentimental, throughout their relationship, he and Adriana had often spent days apart, but he was glad that she and the children were home, even if it had only been a few days. He had to admit that he had missed them.

Sparing a small yawn into her hand, Adriana padded down the stairs, her ears doused by the quiet which filled the house. It had been a pleasant day, after she and the children had met Iker at the airport, they’d headed out to breakfast before they’d returned to their home, and whilst it wasn’t much, Adriana had to admit that she had enjoyed herself, even if she had been quick to retire to her bed when they’d arrived home, she had enjoyed spending time with her husband.

Letting another yawn fall out of her mouth, she pulled her hair up into a loose ponytail before she padded into the living room, her blue eyes settling on Iker who sat on the couch, quietly flicking through the newspaper. Quirking a small smile, she watched him for a couple of seconds before she cleared her throat, something which caused Iker to lift his head, tilting it slightly. “I thought you were upstairs asleep” he noted softly.

“I was” Adriana noted as she stepped a little deeper into the room “But I woke up and I figured I could come and spend some time with you. Where are Olivia and Luca?” she posed softly, settling on the couch beside him.

“I put them upstairs for a nap about 20 minutes ago” Iker mused “Olivia was starting to get a little fussy and I figured that Luca wouldn’t be too far behind” he added, shifting his arms a little so that they sat comfortably around Adriana’s waist.

Adriana smiled a little at the feel of his arms before she shifted, cuddling a little closer to him.

Iker spared a soft smile before he pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head. “How are you feeling?” he posed quietly.

Adriana quirked a smile. She had been waiting for that question since she had found him in the airport. “We’re feeling pretty good” she mused softly “I mean, I’m still getting nauseous from time to time and I feel more tired than usual, but all in all, both me and baby are feeling more than OK” she enthused, shifting his hand so that it rested on the front of her sweater.

Iker peeked down at his hand for a couple of seconds before he nodded his head. “We’ve got a hospital appointment coming up, don’t we?” he posed, his thumb brushing over the front of her shirt softly.

Adriana nodded. “Next week” she agreed softly “It’ll be my 12 week scan” she added.

Iker, who’d moved to make their embrace a little more comfortable, nodded his head. “I already can’t wait for it” he mumbled softly “I can’t wait to see our blob again” he added, his voice becoming slightly sleepy.

Adriana smiled a little at the tone of his voice before she tilted her head, peeking up at him gently. “Do you want me to leave you to it?” she posed softly.

Iker shook his head. “I don’t” he noted softly “It’s been a while since you and I were in the same place and I am kind of enjoying this hug. Do you think you can stay for a little while?” he quipped with a sleepy smile.

Adriana rolled her eyes playfully before she nodded her head, something which made Iker press another soft kiss against the top of her head, mumbling about how he had missed her as he traced small circles into the material of her sweater. Adriana watched the movement of his thumb before she shook her head, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. It hadn’t been long, only a matter of days had passed since they’d been together, but she had to admit that she had missed Iker and that she was glad to be home.
