We Could Be Something

120: Wait A Second

Wrinkling her nose a little, Adriana tossed onto her side, her blue eyes peeking at the alarm clock which sat on the end table. It was early, too early for Adriana who’d developed a habit of laying in since she had discovered that she was expecting again, but she knew it wouldn’t be long before she was disturbed, even if she was comfortable and warm beneath the duvet, she knew it was only a matter of time before Iker and the children padded into the room in order to wish her a merry Christmas.

Peeking at the clock for a moment longer, she spared a small yawn into her hand before she sat up, moving to pull her messy hair into a loose ponytail as the bedroom door edged open, causing her to look towards it, smiling a little at the sight of Iker who stood in the doorway, a tray of food balanced in his hand as he attempted to guide Olivia and Luca into the room. “Do you want a hand?” she posed softly.

Iker, who’d been trying to ensure that he didn’t trip over, startled a little at the sound of her voice before he lifted his head, offering her a small smile. “You were supposed to be asleep still” he noted softly “We were trying to surprise you” he added, carefully moving to settle the tray of food down on the end table.

Adriana, who’d moved to help Luca up onto the bed, quirked a small smile before she shook her head. “You don’t have to do that” she noted softly “You should have woken me up sooner. I could have helped” she added softly.

Iker shook his head and sat on the bed beside her, helping Olivia and Luca to settle down. “I was up anyway” he noted softly “And I figured that you’d be grateful for the opportunity to lay in a little before my parents and your papa show up. It’s likely to be a long day and I know bump’s not giving you much of a break” he added, his hand gently moving to rest on her bump. it had been a little while, Adriana was almost 6 months into her pregnancy, but still Iker found himself a little giddy about the idea, even if he knew that Adriana was still slightly apprehensive, he was already counting down the days until the new addition made their first appearance.

Adriana spared a small look down towards his hand before she shook her head, a soft smile on her face. “You’re pretty sweet, aren’t you?” she teased impishly.

“I like to think so” Iker retorted brightly “You’re pretty lucky to have me” he added, offering her an impish grin.

Adriana rolled her eyes playfully before she leant towards him, pressing a soft kiss against his cheek. “Obrigado” she mused softly before she flicked her attention towards Olivia and Luca, babbling to the two of them softly.

Iker watched the three of them for a couple of seconds before he shook his head, a soft smile on his face. He knew that it was going to take a little adaptation, with Luca and Olivia around, he and Adriana had found a balance, and he knew that it was going to take a little work to perfect it once the new baby arrived, but he was still excited. He loved the idea that their little family was only a couple of months away from getting bigger.

“Are you sure that you don’t want me to give you any help?”

Adriana, who’d been peeling some vegetables, startled a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she turned a little, shaking her head. It had been a hectic morning, with her father and Iker’s parents keen to make a fuss of both Olivia and Luca, the house had been a hive of activity for hours, and whilst Adriana found herself a little worn out, she had to admit that she enjoyed herself. “I’m OK” she noted softly “Besides, I thought you were helping Luca get his new toys out of their boxes?” she added, moving to place the peeled carrot into the pot.

Iker, who leant against the doorframe, shook his head. “Your papa is watching him” he noted softly “And Olivia is happily sat with my madre watching one of the films we bought for her, something which means that I am free to help you out. Are you sure that you can’t find me something to do?” he added, offering her a soft smile.

Adriana admired the look on his face for a couple of seconds before she shook her head, letting out a playful sigh. “How are you at peeling vegetables?” she posed, offering the peeler out towards.

“I’m sure that I can handle it” Iker quipped “Have we got a lot more to do?” he posed, moving to start peeling another vegetable.

Adriana, who’d moved to check on the meat in the oven, shook her head. “I don’t think so” she mused softly “In fact, once you’re finished peeling those, we’ll have about half an hour spare before everything is ready” she added softly.

Iker nodded his head a little. “Is that enough time for you to come and open some of the presents I bought for you?” he posed, quirking a small smile. It had been hectic, since their relatives arrived, Adriana had been rushed off of her feet, and Iker wanted her to take a break, even if it was only for a little while. He wanted her to relax for a bit.

Adriana quirked a small smile and opened her mouth to reply, only for a small squeak to fall out instead.

Iker, who’d turned back to peeling the vegetables, tilted his head a little at the sound of the noise. “Addie?” he posed softly.

Adriana merely shifted a little on the spot, her hand moving to rest on her bump which was noticeable beneath the knitted sweater she wore.

Iker peeked down at her hand before he shook his head. “Is there something wrong?” he pressed, his tone slightly urgent “Do I need to find a doctor?” he added, stepping a little closer to her.

Adriana was quiet for a couple of seconds before she reached her hand out, taking his wrist in her grip before she pulled his hand towards her, settling it against the front of her sweater.

“Addie, if there is something…”

“Just wait for a second” Adriana interjected softly.

Iker offered her a small frown before he felt a slight movement against his hand, something which caused him to look down, his eyes slightly wide.

Adriana admired the expression on his face for a couple of seconds before she shook her head, a small giggle falling out of her mouth. “I didn’t mean to scare you” she noted softly “But Bump thought that he or she would say their first hello” she added gently.

Iker spared his hand another soft glance before he carefully ducked down, pressing a soft kiss to the front of her sweater. “Hola, little one” he mumbled softly.

Adriana watched him for a couple of seconds before she shook her head, a fond smile on her face. She knew that it was going to take some work, their little family getting a little bigger was something that was going to take some getting used to, but she liked that Iker was so confident, even if she was nervous. She liked that he had so much faith in them.
