We Could Be Something

126: Five

Pulling her loose blonde hair up into a ponytail, Adriana let out a small sigh, her blue eyes peeking towards the mirror which stood ahead of her, admiring her pale complexion. It had been a long night, with Gabriela having arrived just before ten and Iker having shown up a little over an hour later, Adriana hadn’t been afforded a lot of time to sleep, but she didn’t mind, even if she did find herself more than a little tired, she had enjoyed spending time with Iker and Gabriela before they introduced her to the rest of their families.

Ensuring that her hair was clipped into place, she spared her reflection another look before the sound of someone clearing their throat reached her, causing her to turn around slightly, her eyes peeking up at Iker who rested in the doorway, a warm grin fixed on his face. “I thought you were getting Gabriela ready to head home?” she quipped.

“She’s ready to go” Iker quipped softly “And I figured I would check on her madre. I know it takes you a while to get ready” he added, offering her an impish grin.

Adriana rolled her eyes a little before she shook her head, moving to step past him. “I just need to get a pair of shoes on and then we should be able to get moving” she mused “Did your parents arrive safely?” she added, moving to sit down on the side of the bed.

“They did” Iker confirmed “They were on the first flight in this morning and they’ve arrived at our house. My madre has already called to tell me that she is very excited about meeting her newest grandbaby” he added before he stepped towards the bed, smiling at Gabriela who slept happily in her car seat. It still felt a little strange, the idea that he and Adriana had welcomed another baby into the world, but it was something that Iker was confident that they would get used to, even if having the little girl around did take a little adaptation, he was confident that it was something that he and Adriana could handle.

Adriana, who’d moved to pull on a pair of shoes, admired the soft look on his face for a couple of seconds before she shook her head. “You’re very smitten with her, aren’t you?” she quipped, playfully nudging his side.

Iker, who’d moved to adjust the hate on the top of Gabriela’s head, rolled his eyes a little. “Can you blame me?” he posed “We’ve made a pretty cute little girl, Addie” he added, offering her a soft smile.

Adriana nodded her head in agreement before she stepped towards him, pressing a soft kiss against his lips. “Do you think you could take us home?” she posed between light kisses.

Iker held onto her for a couple of seconds before he nodded his head. “I should think so” he mumbled softly.

“Are you sure that you want to go in there?”

Adriana, who’d moved to collect Gabriela’s car seat from the car, lifted her head a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she shook her head, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. “I don’t think we have much of a choice” she quipped “You called my papa from the hospital and let him know that we were on our way back. Him and your parents, as well as Olivia and Luca are waiting and we should probably get inside. I think they’d love to meet this little one” she added, sparing a little look towards Gabriela who slept quietly in her car seat.

Iker flicked his eyes between the two of them for a couple of seconds before he sighed, something which made Adriana giggle a little. “Come on” she quipped, offering her hand out towards him.

Iker nodded his head softly before he moved to lace their fingers together, leading her towards the door before he carefully slipped his key into the lock, pushing it open.

“Papa!”

Iker, who’d been focused on trying to be quiet, jumped a little at the sound of Olivia’s voice before he lifted his head, watching as the little girl toddled towards him, her little arms stretched above her head. Shaking his head a little, he carefully ducked down before he wrapped his arms around her, lifting her up onto his hip. “You’ve got to be quiet, princesa” he mumbled softly “If not, you’ll wake up the baby” he added gently.

Olivia tilted her head. “Baba?” she pressed, a small pout on her face.

Iker quirked a small smile before he nodded. “Come on” he noted gently “Why don’t we go and sit down and then me and mama can show you the new baby, OK?” he added, peeking towards Adriana who offered him a soft smile. She had always liked seeing him and Olivia together.

Olivia nodded her head a little before Iker carried her through towards the living room, settling her down on the couch beside Luca who was happily playing with one of his toys.

Carmen, who sat a little away from him, tilted her head. “So?” she posed softly.

Iker quirked a bright smile before he motioned towards the doorway where Adriana stood, Gabriela’s car seat held in her hand. “We’d like to introduce to our new baby daughter” he noted softly “Mama, papa, this is Gabriela” he added before he pushed himself to his feet, moving to collect the baby.

Carmen blinked a couple of times before she shook her head. “Iker…Adriana…she’s so…so…”

“Perfect” Iker finished for her, a proud grin on his face.

Carmen nodded her head in agreement before she shook her head, mumbling about not wanting to cry.

Iker flashed her another soft smile before he flicked his attention back towards the other couch, his dark eyes settling on Luca and Olivia who looked up at him curiously. “Do you want to say hello to Gabriela?” he posed softly before he crouched down, showing off the newborn to her older brother and sister.

Olivia looked at Gabriela for a couple of seconds before she tentatively reached out her little hand, brushing it against Gabriela’s, something which caused the newborn to blink her eyes open, letting out a loud cry.

Luca, who was sat beside his older sister, jumped a little at the sound of the cry before he shook his head, a cry falling out of his mouth.

Adriana, who was stood beside Iker, shook her head a little before she carefully nudged Iker’s shoulder, encouraging him to hand Gabriela over to her. “I’ll take her upstairs for a feed” she noted softly “Are you going to be ok to calm these two down?” she added softly.

Iker nodded. “I’m sure I can handle it” he noted softly.

Adriana offered him a soft smile before she pressed a brief kiss against his lips, moving to step out of the room.

Iker watched after her for a couple of seconds before he shook his head, a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth. He knew that it was going to take some work, with Gabriela having arrived, he knew that it was going to take some time for things to settle down again, but he had faith in them, even if he knew that Adriana was a little worried, he was confident that they’d find a way to keep things working.
