We Could Be Something

26: Are You Sure About That?

Wrinkling her nose a little, Adriana peeked one of her blue eyes open, her ears doused by the sound of the alarm clock which stood on Iker’s bedside table. It was early, one look at the amount of light that seeped into the room confided that it was usually too early for Adriana, but she knew that she wouldn’t be allowed to fall back to sleep, regardless of how comfortable she was, she knew that Iker had more than a couple of plans for the day ahead of them. It had been a couple of days, after they’d run into Jonathan, Iker had been nothing short of wonderful with her, and Adriana had to admit that she was grateful for his comfort.

“I know you’re awake”

Adriana, who’d been staring up at the ceiling, startled a little at the sound of Iker’s voice, something which made him smile a little. “I didn’t mean to scare you” he mused softly.

Adriana shook her head a little before she tossed onto her side, offering him a soft smile. “Bom dia” she mumbled, sparing a small yawn into her hand

Iker admired the sleepy expression on her face for a second before he carefully shifted his hand, brushing some of her loose blonde hair off of her face. “Buenos dias” he mused softly.

Adriana allowed a soft silence to linger over them for a couple of seconds before she shuffled away from him slightly, moving to sit up. “Remind me why you thought getting up at 7:30 was a good idea?” she quipped as she spared another small yawn into her hand. She knew that he had plans, with only a couple of days left before Christmas, Iker had been insistent that they head out to finish off their Christmas shopping, and whilst Adriana was more than happy to go along with him, part of her wasn’t quite prepared to leave the warmth of the duvet.

Iker, who’d moved to pull on a t-shirt, smiled. “I thought we could head out early” he quipped “I figured we could grab some breakfast and then head off to finish off shopping before it gets too crowded. I figured you’d probably not love big crowds right now” he added, sparing a small look down towards her bump which was covered by one of his t-shirts.

Adriana followed the line of his stare for a second before she looked up at him, a soft smile on her face. It wasn’t the first time, since they’d started to spend time together, Iker had appeared considerate and kind, and Adriana had to admit that she was a little smitten with him, even it was soon, a part of her was more than a little smitten by him. “I think that that sounds like a plan” she quipped softly.

Iker offered her a soft smile before he leant towards her, stealing a soft kiss before he stepped away from her, mumbling about needing to take a shower.

Adriana watched after him for a couple of seconds before she shook her head, wordlessly fussing over how well things appeared to be going for them.

“Are you sure that you don’t want me to carry those for you?” Iker quipped as he padded alongside Adriana, shopping bags in their hands. It had been a pleasant morning, despite the early start, Adriana appeared to have enjoyed herself and it pleased Iker who, for a little while, had worried that she would still be a little upset after their encounter with Jonathan. He knew that it had hurt her, Jonathan’s insistence that he didn’t want anything to do with their baby had clearly stung, but Iker was pleased to see that she was doing alright, even it had only been a couple of days. He was pleased that she wasn’t dwelling on it.

Adriana shook her head. “I’m fine” she quipped gently “It’s only a couple of bags” she added, offering him a small smile before she padded ahead of him, pushing the door to a restaurant open.

“I thought you wanted to get back to my apartment?” Iker quipped.

“I did” Adriana quipped “But then I started to feel hungry and I figured that there was no harm in stopping for lunch. It’s my turn to pay” she mused with an impish grin.

Iker offered her a small look before he quirked a smile. “If that’s what you want to do” he noted.

Adriana flashed him a soft grin before she stepped into the restaurant, quickly finding them an empty table.

Iker followed after her and settled down in the seat opposite her, briefly perusing the menu before he peeked over at her. “You know, I don’t think you’ve told me what you’re doing for the holidays yet” he noted softly.

Adriana, who’d moved to pour herself a glass of water, lifted her head. “I haven’t?” she quipped.

“Either you’ve not told me or I’ve forgotten” Iker quipped with a teasing smile.

Adriana rolled her eyes playfully before she shook her head. “It’s not particularly exciting” she noted “Neither my brother or my papa could make it this year so I am going to spend at least part of the day with Ella and her boyfriend” she explained softly.

“Why couldn’t they make it?” Iker posed.

“My papa couldn’t get the time off and my brother’s wife is due to give birth any day” Adriana noted “But they’re going to come over when bump comes along” she added, offering him a small smile.

Iker admired the smile for a second before he shook his head, a small nervous sigh falling out of his mouth.

Adriana tilted her head. “Iker?” she posed.

“I know this is early” Iker breathed softly “And if you want to say no, I’d really not blame you, but I was thinking…my parents are coming over for a couple of days and I was thinking that maybe…maybe you’d want to spend some time with us” he babbled shyly. He knew that it was early, he and Adriana hadn’t been dating for every long at all, but still he wanted to ask, even if she did say no. He didn’t like the idea of her spending the holidays alone.

Adriana blinked. “You want me to meet your parents?” she posed tentatively.

“You can say no” Iker insisted softly “But I don’t like the idea of you spending the day alone. I’d like you to spend at least a small part of it with me, but that would probably mean spending time with my parents too” he added.

Adriana chewed on her lip for a moment, something which made Iker reached his hand out, gently taking a hold of hers. “You can say no, Addie” he reassured her gently “But I am sure that they’d love you” he added, brushing his thumb over the back of her hand.

Adriana shook her head. “Are you sure about that?” she quipped, sparing a small glance down towards her bump.

Iker offered a small look towards her bump before he nodded his head. “I am sure that they’ll like you, Addie” he noted softly.

Adriana spared him another dubious look before she peeked down at their hands, watching the soft movements of his thumb. “You really want me there?” she posed.

Iker nodded. “You’re my girlfriend, Addie” he quipped with a small smile “I’d love to have you there” he added.

Adriana mulled his words over for a second before she spared a tentative nod. She knew that it was early, she and Iker hadn’t been seeing one another for very long, but part of her wanted to take a small step forwards, even if she was nervous about the prospect of his parents disliking her, she didn’t want to turn down the chance to meet them.
