We Could Be Something

82: It’s A Boy

Pulling her hair up into a ponytail, Adriana spared a small yawn into her hand before she peeked towards the mirror, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. It had been a long night, with the little boy having arrived, Adriana had spent a lot of time looking after him, and whilst she found herself a little tired, she knew that she wouldn’t have changed it, even if she had missed out on a few hours’ sleep. She had adored spending time with the newborn.

Offering her reflection another glance, she carefully brushed a few loose hairs off of her face before she pushed the door to the bathroom open, allowing her to pad back into the small hospital room.

Settling her bag down on a chair, she padded a little deeper into the room before she lifted her head, a small smile forming on her face at the sight that stood ahead of her. It wasn’t a surprise, since she had woken him up the previous morning, Iker had barely closed his eyes for a second, and Adriana wasn’t surprised to see him sleeping on her bed, nor was she particularly surprised to see the baby settled on his chest.

Admiring them for a couple seconds, Adriana moved to snap a picture with the camera which sat on the cabinet before she carefully stepped towards the bed, smiling a little at the sight of the baby who looked up at her, his blue eyes wide.

Shaking her head softly, she gently moved to lift him up before she sat down in the seat beside the bed, resting him against her chest. “Your papa said that he wasn’t tired when I went into the bathroom” she noted softly, her fingers gently adjusting the hat which sat on the baby’s head “But I think we both knew that he’d fall asleep as soon as I left him alone for a couple of seconds. He was awake for a long time waiting for you, bump” she added softly.

“We can’t call him ‘bump’ forever”

Adriana, who’d been looking down the baby, startled a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she lifted her head, offering him a small smile. “You were meant to be asleep” she mused gently.

Iker, who’d moved to sit up, shook his head. “I’ll sleep when we get out of here” he noted softly “Did Isla mention when she was going to come by?” he added, his dark eyes peeking down towards the little boy who slept happily in her arms.

“She said that she would come by early” Adriana noted softly.

Iker nodded a little before he ducked forwards, pressing a light kiss to the top of the baby’s head. “We really do need to come up with a name for him” he mumbled after a couple of seconds’ of quiet.

“We do” Adriana agreed softly “But do we need to do it right now? As soon as we get home, people are going to be fussing over him, and I’d like to enjoy the quiet for a little longer. Do you think we can do that?” she posed, peeking up at him gently.

Iker quirked a small smile before he nodded his head. “I think we can handle that” he agreed softly.

“Are you sure that we can’t keep him to ourselves for a little longer?”

Iker, who’d moved to lift the baby out of his car seat, quirked a small smile at the sound of Adriana’s voice before he shook his head. “I don’t think we’d be allowed to get away with that, Addie” he noted softly “I called your papa from the hospital and him, Olivia, my parents, and Ella are all waiting upstairs. We should probably go and introduce them to him” he added softly.

Adriana offered him a dubious look, asking if he was sure, before she nodded her head, gently moving to lift the baby into her arms. “You’re probably right” she noted, carefully adjusting the hat which sat on the little boy’s head.

Iker admired the two of them for a couple of seconds before he stepped towards her, pressing a soft kiss against her lips. “You know, I kind of love the two of you” he teased softly, pulling away from her slightly.

Adriana’s cheeks warmed a little before she quirked a small smile. “We kind of love you too” she played along.

Iker offered her an impish grin before he moved to collect the bags from the back of the car. “Are you ready?” he posed.

“As I will ever be” Adriana mused, rolling her eyes playfully.

Iker offered her another small smile before he lifted the bags onto his shoulder, offering his spare hand out towards her. “Then we should probably get up there. I think some people are pretty excited to meet this little one” he mused.

Adriana nodded her head a little before she reached her hand out, knotting her fingers with his.

Pushing the door to the apartment open, Iker moved to settle the bags beside it before he stepped towards the living room, pulling the attention of the people that filled it towards him. “Could I have your attention?” he posed softly.

Rafael, who was sat in the armchair, shifted a little in his seat before he flicked his attention towards the keeper, offering him a warm smile. “You look exhausted” he quipped.

Iker chuckled a little at the comment before he shook his head. “It has been a pretty long day” he mused softly “But it has been pretty amazing. Addie?” he posed, peeking over his shoulder.

Adriana, who’d been stood in the hall, quirked a small smile at the sound before she padded into the room, stopping beside Iker who wrapped an arm around her waist. “We have someone we’d like to introduce you all to” he mused softly.

Carmen, who was sat on the couch, blinked a couple of times before she pushed herself to her feet, her eyes fixed on the baby. “Iker...Adriana…” she babbled softly.

Iker chuckled a little at her reaction before he shook his head, his hand gently brushing up and down Adriana’s side. “We’ve still got to decide on a name” he noted softly “But this is our baby boy” he added, a proud smile on his face. He knew that it was going to take a little adaptation, with Olivia and the new baby around, things were going to change, but for a little while he merely wanted to enjoy having the newborn around.
