We Could Be Something

87: I’ll Go Where You Go

Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, Iker padded into the kitchen, Luca’s small body curled against his chest as the baby whimpered softly. It was early, like he had done almost every morning since he had been born, Luca had started to stir a little before 3 in the morning, and with Adriana having done the little boy’s last night feed, it had fallen on the keeper to get up with him, something which Iker didn’t mind.

It had been a little while, after he and Adriana had gotten engaged, a week had passed, and whilst Iker was still a little amazed by the idea that Adriana had said yes, he knew that he and Adriana still needed to talk about what it was they did next, even if it wasn’t a topic that Adriana enjoyed talking about, he knew that it was a conversation that they needed to have. They still had a little time, the end of the season was still a couple of weeks away, but he wanted to get the conversation out of the way, even if it wasn’t pleasant, he wanted to know what their next step was before the summer arrived.

Sparing a small yawn into his hand, he moved to collect the warmed up bottle before he padded into the living room, settling himself down on the couch. Resting his head back, he carefully settled Luca down before he closed his eyes, enjoying the quiet which filled the apartment.

“You should have asked me to get him”

Iker jumped at the sound of Adriana’s voice before he lifted his head, settling his eyes on Adriana who stood in the doorway, a sleepy smile on her face. “You got him earlier” he mused softly “I figured it was only fair that I got up with him this time. What are you doing up?” he posed, carefully moving his feet in order to make space for her at his side.

Adriana took the seat before she shook her head. “I heard you get up” she noted softly “And I couldn’t get back to sleep. You’re not happy to see me?” she posed, offering him a light smile.

“I always am” Iker returned with a small smile “But it is almost 3 in the morning, Addie. I’ve got Luca, you should really head back to bed” he added, his tone warm and kind.

Adriana offered him a small look before she shook her head. “I’ll go back when you do” she noted.

Iker briefly thought about protesting before he shook his head, something which made Adriana grin before she moved to get a little more comfortable.

“You know, we still need to have a conversation about where we’re going to go when the season is over” Iker mumbled after a couple minutes, breaking the comfortable silence which filled the room.

Adriana, who’d closed her eyes, startled a little at the sound of his voice before she lifted her head. “You want to have that conversation now?” she posed softly. She knew that it was a conversation that they did need to have, whether she loved the idea or not, the chances were that Iker would be moving when the season ended, but she wanted to avoid talking about it, not wanting to burst the content bubble that she and Iker had found themselves in since Luca had arrived.

“I don’t want to have the conversation now, Addie, but it is something we still need to talk about” Iker answered gently “The season is over in a couple of weeks and I’d like to have an idea of what we’re going to do next before we go on vacation” he added, his fingers gently smoothing out the dark hair which sat on Luca’s head.

Adriana offered him a soft look before she nodded her head, her hand shyly fiddling with the tie of her dressing gown.

Iker watched the movement of her hands for a couple of seconds before he shook his head. “I know that you don’t love the idea of leaving, Addie, but you do still want to come with me, don’t you?” he posed softly.

Adriana glanced down at her hand for a second before she quirked a small smile, offering him a nod. “In case you’ve forgotten, I’ve just agreed to marry you, Iker” she mused “You’re right, I don’t love the idea of leaving, but if it is something you have to do, then I am going to be behind you, Ok?” she posed softly.

“Really?” Iker quipped, a boyish smile on his face.

Adriana rolled her eyes playfully before she nodded her head. “I go where you go, Iker” she mused softly.

Iker offered her another soft smile before he carefully shifted, moving to collect his phone which sat on the coffee table. “There’s a list on there of possibilities” he noted, handing the phone over towards Adriana “You should have a look at it over the next couple of days and tell me what you think” he added.

Adriana took the phone out of his hand before she peeked down at the screen, chewing on her lip as she briefly surveyed the list which filled it.

Iker watched her amusedly for a couple of seconds before he carefully nudged her side with his foot. “You don’t have to decide right this second, Addie” he teased.

Adriana rolled her eyes a little before she settled the phone down onto the coffee table, moving to collect Luca who’d fallen back to sleep from Iker’s arms. “Are you going to come back to bed?” she posed softly.

Iker nodded his head. “I think that that sounds like a plan” he mused softly “You’ll give the list some thought?” he posed, moving to lead her back towards their bedroom.

Adriana followed after him before she nodded her head. “Of course I will” she noted softly.

Iker offered her a bright smile before he moved to press a soft kiss against the top of Luca’s head, mumbling a small goodnight to the little boy before he moved to settle down in bed.

Adriana watched him for a couple of seconds before she let out a small sigh. She knew that it was going to happen, whether she loved the idea or not, she and Iker were going to be moving, and she knew that it was something she had to get used to, even if the thought of moving did concern her, she knew that it was something she needed to do if she wanted things between her and Iker to keep working.
