We Could Be Something

88: He’s Worth It

“Are you sure that you want to come tonight?”

Adriana, who pulling her shoes onto her feet, jumped a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she lifted her head, offering him a small smile. It had been a little while, after their latest conversation about the prospect of moving away from Porto, a couple of weeks had passed, and whilst she was still a little hesitant when it came to discussing the prospect of their move, they were making progress, something which pleased the blonde. She knew that it was going to take a little getting used to, the prospect of leaving Porto was something which unsettled her, but she knew that she had to do it, even if she was likely to miss her home. It was merely something she and Iker had to do.

“You don’t want us there?” Adriana quipped, an impish grin on her face.

Iker, who stood in the door way, rolled his eyes a little before he shook his head, moving to sit down at her side. “I’d love you to be there, Addie” he noted softly “You know that, but Olivia and Luca, they can be a handful and if you wanted to duck out, I’d understand” he added, his expression soft and thoughtful.

Adriana admired the soft expression on his face for a moment before she quirked a small smile, leaning up to press a soft kiss against his cheek “I want to go, Iker” she mused softly “It’s the last match of the season and I want to be there. Besides, Ella’s going to be sat with me to help out with Olivia and Luca. We’ll be fine” she enthused softly.

Iker offered her a slightly dubious look, wordlessly enquiring if she was sure, before he nodded his head, something which made Adriana giggle a little. “You worry too much” she teased, playfully poking his side.

Iker rolled his eyes a little before him quirked a small shy smile, something which made Adriana press a soft kiss against his cheek. She knew that he was a little nervous, whenever she brought up the idea that that night would be last game he played for Porto, he got a little shy, and she wanted to reassure him, even if she was still a little hesitant about the prospect of moving, she wanted to reassure him that she was behind him.

“You have to go” Adriana mumbled, breaking soft silence which had settled around them.

Iker spared small look down towards his watch before he nodded. “I do” he agreed softly “But I will see you, Olivia and Luca afterwards, won’t I?” he posed, moving to collect his bag.

“Of course you will” Adriana mused softly “Good luck” she added, pressing a soft kiss against his lips.

Iker smiled into the kiss, holding onto her for a couple of seconds, before he ducked away, moving to pad out of the room.

Adriana watched him go for a couple of seconds before she closed her eyes, her stomach twisting a little. She knew that she couldn’t avoid it forever, one way or another, she needed to make up her mind, but still the idea made her stomach turn, even if she did want to go along with Iker, she knew that it was something she was going to have to work on getting used to.

“So, how are things between you and your lovely fiancé, Ana?” Ella grinned as she moved to sit beside Adriana, Olivia settled happily in her arms. It had been a little while, after Luca had arrived, Ella had only seen Adriana fleetingly, and she wanted to make the most of it, wanting to take the opportunity to fuss about the news that Iker had proposed.

Adriana, who’d been trying to settle Luca, jumped a little at the sound of Ella’s voice before she shook her head, a small smile on her face. “Things are pretty good” she mused softly “I mean, we’re still a work in progress, but since Luca came along and Iker proposed…things have been pretty good” she enthused, a warm grin on her face.

Ella admired the smile on her friend’s face for a couple of seconds before she shook her head. “I still can’t quite believe that you’re engaged” she quipped “I mean, it wasn’t too long ago that I thought the two of you were going to break up” she added tentatively. She knew that it was a sore point, whenever she brought up the break that Adriana and Iker had taken, the blonde tended to get a little quiet, but still Ella wanted to ask, even if Adriana did clam up. She wanted to ensure that things between Adriana and Iker were alright.

“Ella…”

“I know that you don’t want to talk about it, Ana” Ella interjected softly “And I get that, but I just want to make sure that things are OK between the two of you. You two are good together, Ana, great, and it would be a shame for things to fall apart now. You’ve just gotten engaged and I would hate to see that fall apart” she added, offering her friend a soft look.

Adriana mulled her words over for a couple of seconds before she nodded, offering her friend a soft look. “I’m scared” she admitted “The idea of leaving…it still scares me, but I want to do it, Ella. Iker…he’s been nothing short of amazing since he showed up in my life and I don’t want to lose him, even if it does mean moving away from here, I think he could be worth it” she added, her fingertips nervously tugging at the bottom of her shirt.

Ella watched the movement of her hands before she quirked a small smile, moving to squeeze Adriana’s hand. “He’s most definitely worth it, Ana” she enthused warmly.

Shifting her feet a little, Adriana chewed on the side of her lip, her blue eyes fixed on Iker who stood on the pitch, babbling happily to Olivia who toddled alongside him, a wide grin on her face. It had been a good night, even despite the slightly awkward conversation with Ella, Adriana had enjoyed herself, and she was glad that she and her friend had talked, even if she had been a little quiet since. She was glad that she had talked to someone about what she was feeling.

Quirking a small smile, she watched as Olivia toddled towards her before carefully ducked down, lifting the little girl onto her hip. “Are you having fun, little one?” she posed.

“I think she is having a great time”

Adriana, who’d been focused on Olivia, jumped a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she lifted her head, offering him a small smile. “You think so?” she quipped.

Iker nodded his head. “She’s giggling and smiling” he quipped “I’d say she’s having a wonderful time” he added, offering Adriana an impish grin.

Adriana rolled her eyes playfully, something which made Iker chuckle a little before the word ‘papa’ filled his ears, causing him to flick his attention down towards Olivia who grinned up at him impishly. “Did she just...?” he babbled softly.

Adriana quirked a small smile before she nodded her head. “She did” she confirmed softly.

Iker blinked a couple of times, caught a little off guard, before he carefully leant towards Adriana, settling Luca into her arms before he wrapped his arms around Olivia, cooing to her softly.

Adriana watched the two of them together for a couple of seconds before she stepped towards Iker, pressing a soft kiss against his cheek. “France” she murmured softly.

Iker tilted his head. “What?” he posed.

“You have two offers in France” Adriana mused softly “And, if they’re offering what you want, then that is my preference, but you have to know, I’ll go wherever it is you want to go” she added, peeking up at him softly.

Iker mulled her words over for a couple of seconds before he quirked a small smile, pressing a soft kiss against her lips. She knew that it was going to take a little getting used to, the prospect of leaving was still something which made her a little nervous, but she knew that it was the right thing, even if it did make her nervous.
