We Could Be Something

89: We’ve Got A Lot Going On

“We own a lot more stuff than I thought we did”

Adriana, who was settled on the living room floor, startled a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she lifted her head, offering him a soft smile. It had been a little while, after the season had come to an end, a little over a week had passed, and with Iker having agreed to make the move to Lyon, the two of them were focused on things ready before they made the move.

It still felt a little odd, the prospect of leaving Porto was something which still made Adriana a little nervous, but she was slowly getting used to it, even if she was a little apprehensive. A small part of her was excited to take the next step with Iker.

“We don’t have to pack it all today” Adriana noted softly, moving to place another book into the box which sat ahead of her “But I figured we should get a start on it before we head away on vacation. I’d hate to have to do it all when get back” she added, peeking up at him softly.

Iker, who’d moved to sit down beside her, admired the soft look on her face for a couple of seconds before he nodded his head, offering her a small smile. “You’re probably right” he noted softly.

“I normally am” Adriana quipped, offering him a small impish grin.

Iker rolled his eyes a little before he leant towards her, his arm carefully wrapping around her waist. “You are still Ok with this, aren’t you?” he posed, pressing a soft kiss against her shoulder. He knew that she was still a little nervous, whenever the prospect of their move arose, Adriana tended to get a little quiet and shy, and Iker wanted to ensure that it was still what she wanted to do. The last thing he wanted to do was push her into something she didn’t want.

Adriana mulled his question over for a couple of seconds before she moved to rest her head against his shoulder. “I’m still a little nervous” she admitted, her fingers softly messing with his which sat on her hip “I mean, I’ve lived here for most of my life and the idea of leaving…it scares me slightly, but I do still want to do it” she added, offering him a reassuring smile.

Iker admired her smile for a couple of seconds before he leant towards her, pressing a soft kiss against her temple. “It will be strange at first” he mused softly “And it will take us a little time to get settled in a new city, but I am sure that we’ll get used to it eventually. I mean, I got used to being here pretty quickly” he added, offering her a small reassuring squeeze.

Adriana quirked another soft smile before she leant up, pressing a soft kiss against his cheek. “I am sure that we will too” she mumbled before pushed herself away from him slightly, moving to pack a few more things into the box which sat ahead of her.

Iker watched her for a couple of seconds before he ducked forwards, pressing a soft kiss against her shoulder. “What do you think about next summer?” he posed.

Adriana, who’d moved to place a few more items into the cardboard box, tilted her head a little before she turned to look at him. “What?” she posed, her eyebrow lifted in confusion.

Iker chuckled a little at the confused expression on her face before he shifted his hand, moving to knot their fingers together. “I’ve been doing a little thinking” he noted softly “And I figured that, eventually, we’re going to have to think about a wedding date” he added, a small smile on his face.

Adriana tilted her head. “You’ve been thinking about that?” she posed, nibbling on her lip softly. It wasn’t something that they’d talked a lot about, after Iker had proposed, their focus had been fixed on where they’d moved to, and Adriana was a little surprised to hear that he’d been thinking about a wedding date. She had assumed that their wedding plans were on hold for a while.

Iker shrugged innocently, something which made Adriana shake her head before she playfully nudged his shoulder, making him chuckle a little.

“I’ve given it a little thought” he mused softly “And I figured that next summer would be a good time. I don’t want to rush it, Addie, I want us to take our time, and doing it next summer gives us another year to be sure that this…this is a really good thing” he added, motioning softly between the two of them.

He knew what he wanted, for a while, he had been sure that he wanted to marry Adriana, but he wanted them to take their time, even if he was sure about what it was he wanted. He didn’t want to rush into a wedding only for things to falter.

Adriana spared a small glance down towards their hands before she quirked a small smile, her blue eyes peeking up at him softly. “You’ve really given it a lot of thought, haven’t you?” she teased.

Iker rolled his eyes a little, something which made Adriana giggle before she pulled his hand to her lips, allowing her to press a soft kiss against the warm skin. “I think that that sounds like a wonderful idea” she breathed softly.

“You do?” Iker posed.

Adriana offered him a shy smile before she nodded her head. “We’ve got a lot going on right now” she mused “And the last thing we need is to add the stress of planning a wedding to the stress of the move. We should take a couple of months, to let things settle down, and then we should start planning a wedding for next summer” she added, playing with his fingers softly.

Iker watched the movement of her fingers for a couple of seconds before he carefully leant towards her, pressing a soft kiss against her lips. “Next summer” he breathed as he carefully pulled away from her slightly “I am already kind of excited” he teased.

Adriana rolled her eyes a little before she wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing another soft kiss against his lips. She knew that it was right decision, postponing their wedding planning for a little while, and she was glad that they had made it. The last thing she wanted was for things between the two of them to falter because they were trying to do things too quickly.
