We Could Be Something

90: Stronger Than We Look

Pulling her hair up into a loose ponytail, Adriana spared a soft look towards the mirror which stood ahead of her, her blue eyes scanning her appearance softly. It had been a little while, after she and Iker had agreed to postpone their wedding planning for a little while, a few weeks had passed and with their move to Lyon on a couple of days away, Iker had offered to take her out for the night, something which Adriana had been quick to agree to.

It still felt a little odd, the prospect of leaving Porto was still something which made Adriana a little nervous, but she knew that it was for the best, even if it did scare her a little. She knew that it was a step that she needed to take if things between her and Iker were going to work out.

“Ella’s just come by to pick up the kids”

Adriana, who’d moved to pull her shoes onto her feet, startled a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she lifted her head, her blue eyes peeking towards the door way where he stood, a small smile on his face. “She did?” she posed.

“She did” Iker confirmed softly “And she told me that there was no hurry to pick them up from hers. She’s got both of our numbers if she needs us” he added softly.

Adriana, who’d moved to collect her jacket, nodded her head a little before she stepped towards him, her arms softly wrapping around his neck. “Are you going to tell me what we’re doing yet?” she posed, offering him a small impish grin. It had been a surprise, the notion that Iker wanted to take her out for the night had come a little out of the blue, but she was a little excited about the prospect of a night out with him, even if she part of her was a little upset that it was one of their last nights in the city, she couldn’t wait to see what it was that he’d come up with.

Iker wrapped his arms around her waist before he ducked down, pressing a soft kiss against her nose. “I could tell you” he teased softly “But it would ruin the surprise. Humour me?” he posed softly.

Adriana wrinkled her nose a little before she offered him a small pout, something which made Iker chuckle softly before he ducked down, pressing a soft kiss against her lips. “It’s a surprise that I am sure that you’ll like, Addie” he mused “And we should probably get moving” he added, offering his hand out to her.

Adriana spared his hand a small look before she moved to knot her fingers with his, something which made Iker press a soft kiss against the side of her head. He knew that she was still nervous, whenever the topic of their move arose, she tended to look a little shy and unsure, and he wanted to reassure her that it was a good thing, even if it was going to take a little getting used to, he wanted her to know that it would be alright.

“Can I take this stupid thing off yet?” Adriana complained, her fingertips pulling at the tie which Iker had placed over her eyes.

Iker, who was carefully leading her, chuckled a little at the tone of her voice before he shook his head. “Not quite yet” he noted softly “We’ve still got a couple more steps yet” he added, gently squeezing her hand.

“That’s a few steps too many” Adriana countered, a small pout on her features.

Iker rolled his eyes a little before he stepped ahead of her, carefully moving to pull the tie away from her eyes.

Adriana blinked a couple of times, trying to adjust to the light, before she let out a small squeak, her blue eyes studying the interior of the Estádio do Dragão.

Iker admired the soft expression on her face for a couple of seconds before he shook his head, a small bashful laugh falling out of his mouth. “I am going to need you to say something, Addie” he teased softly “If this is the worst idea in the world…”

“I love it” Adriana interjected.

Iker tilted his head a little. “You do?” he posed softly.

Adriana nodded her head a little before she quirked a small smile. “I do” she confirmed softly “You came up with this yourself?” she added, a teasing smirk on her face.

Iker rolled his eyes a little before he nodded his head. “I did” he confirmed softly “I’ve got us some food, and a blanket, and I figured we could have a little picnic. What do you think?” he posed, his arms gently wrapping around her waist.

Adriana leant into their embrace for a couple of seconds before she quirked a small smile, moving to press a soft kiss against his lips. “I think that that sounds wonderful” she enthused softly.

“You know, my agent called the other day”

Adriana, who was sipping on her glass of wine, jumped a little at the sound of Iker’s voice before she tilted her head, her blue eyes peeking up at him. It had been a wonderful night, after arriving at the stadium, the two of them had had a lovely meal and conversation, and Adriana had to admit that she was pleased, even if she was a little sad about the prospect of leaving, she had enjoyed the date that Iker had set up for them.

“He did?” she posed softly.

“He did” Iker confirmed softly “He was telling me that most of our stuff has arrived safely and that it should all be in place for when we fly out” he added, his hand gently brushing up and down her arm reassuringly.

Adriana watched his hand for a couple of seconds before she nodded her head quietly, something which made Iker lean towards her, pressing a soft kiss against her cheek. “You know, if you’re having second thoughts…”

“I’m not” Adriana interjected softly “I’m just…I’m a little apprehensive. It’s a pretty big deal, Iker, a new city, new people, it’s going to take me some time to get used to it” she babbled, her cheeks tinting a little pink.

Iker admired her for a couple of seconds before he shifted his hands, gently taking a hold of hers which shifted gently in her lap. “It will take some time to get settled” he mused softly “But I am sure that we can handle it, Addie. We’re stronger than we look” he quipped, offering her a boyish smile.

Adriana peeked up at him softly, her teeth chewing on her lip, before she nodded her head, something which made him smile softly. He knew that she was nervous, for a while, she was likely to be a little uncertain about the idea of leaving, but he wanted to offer her a little reassurance, even if he was a little nervous. He wanted to reassure her that things could work out.
