We Could Be Something

92: Our Home

Staring at the door which stood ahead of him, Iker let out a small sigh, his stomach twisting a little. It had been a long morning, between packing up the last of their things and travelling, Iker had barely had a second to relax, but he was glad that the day was almost over, even if they did still have a lot of unpacking to do, part of him couldn’t wait to settle down for the evening.

Sparing another soft sigh, he pulled the key out of his pocket before he carefully nudged the door open, his dark eyes admiring the hall of the newly bought house. It wasn’t the first time he had seen it, after he and Adriana had decided on a move to France, he had been quick to find them somewhere to live, but he was still a little impressed by it, even if it had changed a little since he had last seen it.

Quirking a brief smile, he admired the room for a couple of seconds before the sound of someone clearing their throat reached him, causing him to turn slightly, his dark eyes settling on Adriana who stood a little away from, Luca snoozing happily in her arms. “Are we actually going to go inside at some point today or did you just want to stand out here?” she quipped, a slightly teasing grin on her face.

Iker rolled his eyes playfully before he nodded his head, carefully moving to pick up Olivia who stood beside her mother, pouting up at him softly. “Of course” he noted softly “After you, Addie” he added, offering her a small smirk.

Adriana shook her head a little, a soft grin playing at the corner of her mouth, before she stepped ahead of him, padding into the hall before she let out a small squeak.

Iker, who’d followed after her, quirked a soft smile at the small sound which had fallen out of her mouth before he stepped towards her, his spare arm wrapping gently around her waist. “I figured that you might like this” he quipped, pressing a soft kiss against the side of her head.

Adriana’s cheeks warmed a little before she turned slightly, peeking up at him gently. “You picked this place?” she posed softly.

“It took a little time, but this is the one I liked the best” Iker confirmed softly “But if you find anything that you want to change, all you’ve got to do is tell me. This is going to be our home, Addie, and I want to make sure that you’re as comfortable as you can be here” he added, offering her waist a small squeeze.

Adriana quirked a small smile at the sound of his words before she carefully rested her head on his shoulder, something which caused Iker to press a kiss against it. “You tired?” he posed softly.

Adriana nodded. “A little” she mused, sparing a small yawn into her hand.

Iker admired her for a couple of seconds before he nodded his head, offering her a small smile. “Then you should give me Luca and I’ll get these two down for a nap for a little while whilst you head upstairs and get some sleep” he mused, carefully moving to collect Luca from her arms.

“Are you sure that you don’t want me to help settle them?” Adriana posed, another yawn falling out of her mouth.

Iker quirked another soft smile before he shook his head. “I am sure that I can handle it, Addie” he mused softly “It’s not like it’s the first time” he added impishly.

Adriana offered him a slightly dubious look, wordlessly enquiring if he was sure, before she leant up onto her toes, pressing a soft kiss against his cheek before she padded out of the room.

Sparing a small yawn into her hand, Adriana carefully pulled her hair up into a ponytail before she padded down the stairs, her ears doused by the soft sound of Olivia’s giggles. It had been a little while, after Iker had suggested that she took a nap, Adriana had spent a few hours curled up in their bed, and whilst she was glad that she had had the opportunity to sleep for a little while, a small part of her felt a little bad for leaving Iker alone with Olivia and Luca.

Sparing another yawn into her hand, she reached the bottom of the stairs before she padded into the living room, her blue eyes settling on Iker who sat in the middle of the floor, Luca balanced in one arm whilst he offered a toy out to Oliva, something which had the little girl giggling brightly.

Pausing for a second, Adriana briefly contemplated clearing her throat, before she quirked a small smile, watching as Olivia pulled herself up to her feet, carefully toddling towards Iker who grinned up at her, cooing to her gently. It wasn’t the first time, since Olivia had arrived, Iker had been a natural around both her and Luca, but still Adriana found it sweet. Part of her adored his paternal side. Shaking her head a little, Adriana rested against the door frame for a couple of seconds, admiring the three of them before the sound of someone clearing their throat reached her, causing her to startle a little.

“You Ok over there?” Iker quipped, offering her a small impish smile.

Adriana rolled her eyes a little before she padded towards him, settling down beside him. “I was just admiring the three of you” she noted softly “You all look very cute together” she added, carefully moving to lift Luca into her arms.

Iker watched her for a couple of seconds before he carefully leant over, pressing a soft kiss against her lips. “What do you want to do about dinner?” he posed softly, breaking the comfortable quiet that had fallen over them.

“We’ve not been out shopping yet” Adriana replied, leaning against him softly “So, why don’t we find a nearby restaurant to order in from and spend the night curled up in front of the television?” she posed, her blue eyes peeking up at him gently.

Iker admired the soft look on her face for a couple of seconds before he nodded his head. “I can’t think of anything that sounds better than that right now” he mused softly “I’ll go and find your laptop and we can start looking for restaurants” he added before he pushed himself to his feet, moving to pad out of the room.

Adriana watched him go for a couple of seconds before she shook her head, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. She knew that it was going to take a little getting used to, living in Lyon was something which was going to take a little adaptation, but she was confident that it was something that she and Iker could manage, even if it did have a few hiccups. She was confident that they would make it work.
