Hell Raiser

Kait was curled up in the arm chair that was closest to the fire place in the small cabin that Dean had rented for the week. He and Sam had had another hunt and he couldn’t leave Kait behind, not after she had saved him and his brother countless times in the past six months. The Winchester needed her. The blue and white throw blanket she was wrapped in looked like a cocoon was encasing her curvy frame. Her legs were draped over the arm of the velvety grey chair, her body resting cock-eyed with her forehead laying on the high back. She had tried to stay up all night awaiting Dean’s return.

Dean knew that there was something about this woman that put him to the test, put him on edge in the best of ways while still keeping him at such a calm and collected level that was so surreal to him. He hadn’t found a woman like her ever before, not even Jo. She was his best friend, a hunter and a lover when he wanted it. She had made him work for it, but she also understood who he was and what he was. He thought the world of her and he didn’t quite know how to describe it exactly.

The hunter’s hand grasped the door handle firmly as he slipped the key into the lock, slowly turning it and trying to sneak in. Kait was a light sleeper most nights, so this plan was easily foiled when she heard the squeak of the door as it opened. Her eyes fluttered open and she sat up straight, rubbing her eyes as she stretched upwards. Dean’s green eyes landed on the woman and he couldn’t help but give his signature half-smile as her hands left her eyes and she glanced up at him. Their eyes met and she slowly let her lips curl into a sleepy smile.

“Hey stranger,” she breathed out just loud enough for him to hear from the door. Dean let out a quiet chuckle as he walked further in, followed by his abnormally tall brother, Sam.

“Hey cutie,” Dean set down his duffle bag in the corner of the small living room and hug his leather jacket up on the coat rack. Sam walked in just as Dean was doing so, shutting and locking the door behind him. He gave Kait a small wave before heading towards his bedroom for the night.

Kait slipped out from under the blanket, letting it pool around her feet as she stretched her arms above her head and stretched onto her tip toes. Her back and shoulders popped a couple times, making a small groan escaper her lips. Dean watched her, smiling to himself. His arms crossed over his chest as he stood with his feet spread shoulder width apart. Clad in a pair of bootcut jeans with a dark tshirt and dark green button up that hung loose around his trunk. There wasn’t much to Kait’s outfit – bootcut jeans that hugged her hips and thighs, holes in the right knee and left upper thigh, a tight navy blue tank top with a loose white one over it, and a grey plaid button up with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows. She was the female version of Dean, and that was probably why he loved her so much. She knew what he needed because she needed it from him. Dean merely smiled at her as he cleared the short distance between them and hugged her, his arms around her waist, pulling her into his chest easily.

“You tried to stay up to see us, didn’t you?” He teased, his head resting on the crown of hers. Kait nodded her head as her arms winded around his buff midsection. Her head resting on his chest.

“Why wouldn’t I? When I didn’t hear from you for a few hours I got a little worried Dean. You two aren’t exactly the best at keeping in touch when you’re hunting sometimes.” Her voice was quiet, but he could hear the concern she had in her voice.

They stood there for a little while, just holding on to each other and keeping each other close. Kait was not about to forget the feeling of his strong arms around her, her head on his chest, and his head on hers. His thoughts were just that, he wouldn’t want to miss holding her every night when he came back from a hunt, he saw a future with her where he hadn’t see one with anyone before. Dean pulled back slowly, keeping his arms around her, and looked down at her face.

“Kait?” He asked to get her attention. Her head snapped up, her big blue eyes looking up into his green ones.

“Yeah, Dean?” Voice barely above a whisper as she talked.

“I…” He sighed softly, one hand resting on the back of her neck tenderly. “I love you.”

Kait smiled slowly, the sleepiest, sweetest grin she ever did give him. “I love you too, yah little hell raiser.” She giggled softly and leaned up, kissing him. This may have been a disaster waiting to happen, but there were in it for the long haul.

I know this isn't the usual from a Dean story, but that prompt came from a tumblr account and I just had to write about it.
