Chapter 7

Lana's POV

Up or down? I stared at myself in the mirror, trying to decide. Up. I'd have to wear it up, it would look better with this dress, this dress that thankfully Marty had insisted I buy and I after I'd put my hair up, I stood back, looking in the mirror. Up had been the right decision.

I was just applying my last bit of make up when the buzzer rang and I quickly ran to the door, buzzing the person in. I didn't ask, I knew who it was and as I opened the door, I put a big smile on my face, getting ready to greet them.

"Lana." Matt said, approaching the door, looking me up and down and frowning slightly.

What the fuck was he doing here? He wasn't Nick. Yes Nick. After nearly four days he'd finally called and tonight was going to be our first date. I was excited, but nervous and I'd put in a little extra effort, hoping to impress him.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, probably sounding rude.

"Um, I needed to talk to you?" He mumbled, looking me up and down again. "But I guess you're going out."

"Yeah sorry, I have a date." And I felt a little proud saying that. "Why what's up?"

"A date?" He asked and I ignored that, he didn't have to sound so incredulous. "Anyway, have you spoken to Marty lately?"

"No why?" I asked and we were interrupted by the door again. I leant over, buzzing the person, who I presumed would be Nick in.

"Her and Brian broke up." Matt said quickly.

"What?" I asked, glancing over his shoulder as Nick appeared and I took a step back.

Fuck. Nick was basically Matt's single equivalent. He was the same height, the same build, muscular, tattooed, a sweet face, the only difference was the hair, Nick's was long and tonight he had it up in a man bun and it looked really fucking hot and I couldn't keep my eye's off of him.

"Nick." He said, looking at Matt and sticking his hand out.

Matt glanced at me, then looked Nick up and down before shaking his hand. "Matt."

Nick laughed. "Yeah I know, M Shadows, man it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Um." Matt said. "I guess I better let you two go." He started for the stairs. "I'll call you later." And he disappeared.

"You never told me you knew him." Nick said smiling, and fuck me he had dimples.

"Well we've hardly spoken." I pointed out.

"And that is true." He said. "So let's go to dinner and get to know each other." So I grabbed my bag and we headed downstairs. "By the way, you look absolutely stunning." He told me as he opened the door for me and we walked to his car.

I found myself blushing. I was extremely attracted to him and I found myself hoping that this date turned out okay.

He took me to an extremely nice restaurant and once again I mentally thanked Marty for making me buy this dress.

"Are you okay?" Nick suddenly asked, looking at me.

I nodded, my thinking of Marty had reminded me of what Matt had said, that her and Brian had broken up. She hadn't even called me and I was a little worried. "Oh yeah, I'm okay, just worrying about a friend."

"Not Shadows I hope."

"Ha." I laughed. "No, he has zero problems."

"He's getting married isn't he?" Nick asked me.

"Yes and I'm best man." I added and I watched as Nick burst out laughing.

"Oh my god." He laughed. "That is hilarious and adorable all at the same time. I'd like to see you as best man." And he smiled at me. Fuck. Dimples.

After dinner we went to the movies and I was happy when Nick held my hand. He was a really nice guy, in the looks department as well as personality wise and I couldn't help but like him. I liked the idea that Matt wasn't on my mind for once, I liked the idea of moving forward.

It was pretty late by the time the movie finished and Nick walked me to the door.

"Do you want to come in?" I asked him as we reached my door.

"Nope, it's late." He said and I couldn't help but feel disappointed.

"Okay." I said, hoping my voice didn't show my disappointment. "Well I guess I'll see you later?" I asked, letting the question hang in the air.

"Um." He said, smiling. "I hope so." And he reached out, pulling me to him and kissing me softly. "I'll call you tomorrow." He whispered, brushing his lips across mine again, before heading back down the stairs.

I let myself in, grinning like an idiot. I'd had an amazing night, I'd actually really enjoyed myself and I was glad, Nick was a really nice guy and more importantly, he wasn't Matt and he wasn't getting married.

I threw my bag on the couch and dug around, pulling out my phone. 10 missed calls from Matt and I dialled his number, holding the phone to my ear. Something must be important if he'd called 10 times.

"Matt what's wrong?" I asked as soon as he answered.

"Where the hell have you been?" He demanded. "It's almost midnight."

"On my date Matt." I informed him, wondering what the big deal was.

"Yeah well you need to call Marty, something's wrong, nobody's heard from her all week."

"So when did they break up?" I asked him, starting to get worried.

"Sunday night."

Fuck, Sunday night. Today was Friday and I hadn't heard a word from her, I just assumed everything had been fine between her and Brian. God, I was a horrible friend.

"Okay, I'll call her now." I assured him, hurrying the call up.

"So how was your date?"

"Actually it was nice, very nice." I told him, smiling, remembering the kiss and then trying to remember the last time I'd been kissed.

"Nice, anyway I gotta go." He said, hanging up. No bye, No see you later, everyone was just so rude lately.

I didn't have time to worry about Matt's rudeness, right now Marty was my main concern. I really hoped she was okay and I was upset that she hadn't called me. I knew she'd be devastated without Brian and I quickly dialled her number, waiting and waiting, listening as her message bank answered.

She hadn't answered and now I was really worried.
