Take Me to Church

Chapter Seventeen

At some point during the excruciatingly long plane ride, Chibs began complaining. Having foreseen this, I pulled a flask out of a pocket in his back pack and handed it to him.

When we finally arrived, and we were all finally able to stretch out, it was like watching an animal coming out of it's cage.

We were greeted by a handful of SAMBEL, a few of the faces surrounding us were oddly familiar to me. I remember seeing them as I was growing up- though I doubt they recognize me. They brought bikes for all of the boys, while Gemma and I were expected to ride in a van with the SAMBEL crew. Refusing to do so, I climbed onto the back of the bike that Chibs was on. Just like the old times before my bike had been fixed and returned to me.

Driving through the country-side completely took my breath away. I hadn't been here in so long, it was like I was seeing it all for the first time. Like I had never been here in the first place. Almost as if I was seeing everything through new eyes.

Pulling off on a back road, we came to a stop where three men were standing next to their bikes waiting for our arrival. As soon as I could, I jumped off the back of the bike and went running over to the man standing in the middle of the three. "Kaela darling, I've missed you so much!!!" My father spoke loudly, pulling me into his arms. "I've missed you too, da." I hummed, burying my face in his chest.

We stay in each others embrace for a few moments before pulling away as everyone else surrounded us. Chibs was looking at my father and I with a loving smile, watching our reunion.

"Shalom, brother." McGee smiled, moving to give Clay a brief hug. "It's good to see you Keith." Clay smiled to the taller man. I took a slight step back, and watched the two older men interact together.

"Did you travel well?" McGee continued to converse with Clay. I, however, moved my attention away from the two of them. Only for it to land on the dark-haired man standing to his right.

Liam O'Neill, Sargent of Arms of the Belfast charter.

When I looked at him, he had just finished hugging Chibs, so I stepped over to the two men. "Uncle Liam. It's been a while." I smiled to the man standing in front of me. "Aye, lass, it has. Welcome home." He returned the smile, pulling me into a hug. When I pulled away from him, I looked over and saw Chibs heading over to the third man. I wasn't sure who he was- he was younger.

"Well, look at you. You little bastard, come here!" Chibs laughed loudly,, pulling the man into a hug. The two men laughed together in their embrace. "It's grand to see you son." Chibs spoke again.

Turns out the third man just so happened to be Chibs' nephew. I stood there watching everyone interact with one another as I moved back over to the bike Chibs and I had been previously riding on. That's when Jax and Juice stepped over to my side. "So, how exactly do you know everyone?" Juice mumbled. Before I could say anything, I could hear my father shouting at me.

"Kaela, tha thu fhathast nach eil ag innse dhaibh gu bheil thu mo nighean?" He called to me from a few feet away. "No papa, nach eil mi gu math gotten arond gu fìrinn sin" I shook my head, speaking the language my father had taught me as a young girl.

Only Chibs and Clay knew he was my father, that was the way that he wanted it. Well, actually only Clay was supposed to know, but how was I supposed to keep that secret from my husband? Fiddling with my fingers, I looked down to the ground, waiting for someone to speak up next. I expected it to be my father, but Jax beat him to it.

"Now, I don't speak what I'm assuming is Gaelic, but I did just hear the word 'papa'; and I'm pretty sure that it's the same in most languages." Jax smirked, looking me over. "Well, that's because McGee is my dad." I confessed with a shrug of my shoulders.

Thankfully, before anymore questions could be asked, we loaded back up and left to go to the club. I once more road with Chibs. We were heading straight to the club, but hit a snag in the road along the way. Literally. We were stopped by the police, and forced to show them our passports. Only, they didn't even look at them. Instead, they came at us full force, yelling for us to get down on the ground. Which we all complied- except for Chibs.

From the ground, I watched as my husband stood his ground. His hands came up, taking his sunglasses off of his eyes and he glared at the man standing in front of him. "Dirty. Loyalist. Bastard." Was all he said before spitting in the mans face. That, of course, was all it took to make the man bring his gun back before slamming it into Chibs' face.

I couldn't help but gasp loudly as my husband came crashing down onto the ground next to me. Seeing this, everyone jumped up and began yelling. Juice and Podraic came over to check on Chibs as I helped him to his feet. The spot where he had gotten hit was already bright red. It was then that one of the other officers fired his gun to break up the out breaking fight.

I thought things might calm down after that, but I was wrong. The police began grabbing and handcuffing us before shoving us into the back of a truck,

Don't tell me this is it- we can't get deported now. We just can't, we still have to fin Abel, we have to get him home. We've come this far to have it all blow up in our faces? Oh no, I don't think so.

I had been shoved in the back of the van, just behind Chibs when I heard the people outside yelling about something, and it felt as if the truck we were stuck in the back of got run off the road. Definitely not the most comfortable thing to ride through, especially with our hands cuffed awkwardly behind our backs.

The next thing I knew, Gemma was opening the truck doors, letting us all out and getting us out of these god forsaken hand cuffs.

"What the hell was this about?" Jax breathed out, looking towards Podraic. The boy simply laughed as he placed his hand on Jax's shoulder. "Welcome to Ireland." Once everyone had their hand cuffs off, the officer who seemed to be the one in charge was put on his knees in front of us. "Where'd you get the intel on us?" Clay was quick to step up to the man. "I'm a police officer." The man lolled out as if were the stupidest question he'd ever heard.

"Yeah? Then what happened to back up? How come your boys took off?" Jax chimed in, clearly not happy. Not that any of us currently were. "They got scared 'cause shit went south." Opie suggested to the man. Jax strode forward, and grabbed the officer by the front of his shirt. "Who paid you off?" Jax growled, pulling his arm back to punch the man.

Only Chibs stepped forward and stopped him before he was able to follow through.

"Nu-uh Jackie boy. This one's mine." The smile on my husband's face was absolutely cynical. Almost scary. It was kind of a turn on. Chibs replaced Jax's grip on the man's shirt, and proceeded to punch the man in the face three times.

Deciding that anymore would be over kill, Opie stepped forward and pulled Chibs off of the man. It was only then that I noticed the man was the same one who had previously hit Chibs in the face. Chibs stumbled backwards when Opie released him, and I placed my arm over his chest in order to steady him. Then, Clay once more stepped forward to speak with the now bloodied man. "Now, if you ever want to chew with those teeth again, you're going to open up aren't you?" Clay warned him.

When the man didn't say anything, Clay repeated Chibs' previous actions and punched the man in the face. Reaching out, Jax caught the man before he could fall, and shoved him against the side of the van.

"Hap! Kill one of his men." Jax barked towards our newest member. "Yes, I will." Happy was quick to comply, pulling out his gun. Grabbing one of the other officers, Happy put him on his knees before pointing the gun to the man's head. That's all it took for the leader to start talking.

"No, no, don't! We were paid to detain you- send you back to the states!" The man admitted, fearing for his and his mens lives. "Jimmy O'Phalen?" Jax asked him. "I don't know who." He shook his head. Jax obviously wasn't having any of that, at all. "Hap!" Jax growled out. This time, Happy cocked his gun; and once more got the leader talking. "I swear on my mother's life! We didn't get a name- only money and a task." He confessed.

Stepping away from the man, Jax stepped over to where Chibs and I were standing together. "It's that bastard O'Phalen." You could see the anger in my husband's eyes as he spoke. "Yeah, I guess he knows we're here." Jax spoke lightly, looking over his shoulder to Clay.

There ad only been two people who knew that we were coming to Belfast. O'Neill and McGee. So I couldn't help but wonder which one of them had told O'Phalen. Or if it had been both of them.

"Well we're going to have to do something about all this. I don't think we'll be able to get them off duty free." Bobby stated, motioning to the men in front of him. Clay was silent for a moment, thinking of what the do before deciding to speak. "Pull their I.D.s" He ordered us all.

Happy, Opie, and Jax were the ones to act. Stepping forward, they took the I.D.s off of the remaining police officers, then handed the information over to Clay and he began looking it over.

"Now we know you name, Charles; and now my guys know where you live." Clay warned the man rather simply. "I'd hate for anything to happen to that pretty family just because their da was on the take." Jax added with a cocky smirk. "We can ruin your career, and we can definitely ruin your life. Understand?" Clay said, holding the man's wallet out in the air.

It finally seemed to all sink in as the man nodded his head.

Looking around, my eyes landed on O'Neill- who was watching Jax like a hawk. Like he was trying to remember every single detail of what had just happened, making a detailed report in his head.

We released the men after that, and Clay ordered that it was time to go. So we got back onto the bikes, and ready to leave. This time, we were able to make it all the way to the club without any more problems. I felt out of place surrounded by so many men when I'm the only woman wearing the reaper on her back.

Crossing my arms over my chest, I opted to stay near the bikes as Chibs walked away from me. Though, seeing my father standing next to me, I immediately felt calm and leaned into him. "Hi, daddy." I said with a sigh. He smiled down at me almost immediately. "So darling, you're making history everywhere aren't you?" He chuckled lightly.

"What do you mean?" I hummed, looking up at him. "I never thought I'd see the day that Telford willingly left Fiona. Always thought she was the best thing for him- but now I see that I was wrong. That you're the best thing for him."

I knew it wouldn't take long for him to spot it. I just couldn't tell if he was angry about it or not. He wasn't the easiest people to read. "Are you happy?" He asked me. "Very, are you disappointed in me?" I asked, still looking up at him. "No, as long as you're happy and he treats you right, then I'm happy for you." He returned the smile, hugging me to him tightly.

The next thing I knew, we walked into the club and we all gathered around a table. A few of the SAMBEL members seemed a bit uncomfortable about me being there, but said nothing as Chibs held me in his lap.

"It had to be Jimmy that bought off the cops." Bobby speaking is what caught my attention. "Why would Jimmy want to deport you?" My father asked, sitting at the head of the table. "I don't know, but he's been lying to us the whole time." Clay said with a disappointed sigh. Clay and McGee never broke eye contact as a small silence settled over the room.

"You guys having any trouble from the army?" I was so happy when Jax spoke up and broke that silence. "Still running guns for protection. It's our main gig- got one tomorrow." O'Neill was the one to answer.

Hearing footsteps approaching, I turned around to see that it was Juice. He had his gun in his hand as he walked through the door. "We've got visitors." He was breathing heavily. Upon hearing his words, we all jumped up and followed Juice out of the club. I pushed my way through the crowd of men, just in time to see Fiona and Kerrianne step out of a van.

I had never seen Kerrianne before, but upon seeing her it was damn near impossible to not know who she was. She was the perfect mix between Fiona and Chibs. She looked so much like Filip it almost broke my heart.

"Oh my god, it's my girls." Releasing my hand, Chibs pushed further through the crowd. I watched as he made a dash towards the two females. As he approached, you could see Kerrianne grow rigid and nervous. My heart broke at the thought that she may not recognize him- her own father. How much of him in her life was she able to remember?

He moved slowly, and wrapped his arms around the small girl, and she moved slowly to do the same in return. The worry melted away from my heart as I saw the two embracing one another.

It was then that Gemma came walking over to me. She put her arm around my shoulders, and had me walk along with her back into the club. This time, we walked up the stairs and into one of the loft that was located there. I was expecting for her to yell and scream at me for lying about who I am; but instead the others walked into the room behind us.

Gemma and Fiona sat on the couch together, while Chibs was sitting on the arm of the couch. Jax was sitting in an arm chair across from them. While I stood back away from them all, leaning my back up against the wall behind me.

"I don't know why Jimmy lied. I'm not privy to his plans, he doesn't trust me anymore." She explained with a smirk on her face. "Do you at least know what he's been up to since he's got back?" Chibs questioned, looking down at her. "Recruiting." She shrugged her shoulders ever so slightly. "What about O'Neill? He on Jimmy's personal payroll?" Jax asked.

"Not that I know of; but like I've said, last few months I've been in the dark. Sorry I have nothing that helps." She sighed, looking between both Gemma and Jax. "It's okay, thank you." Gemma was quick to reassure her.

A few seconds later a man, Shaun, led Kerrianne into the room where we were all gathered around together. "Start wrapping it up Fi, we have to get back soon." He ordered. With a sigh, Fiona stood and walked over to her daughter. "Kellan wants us to stay at the rectory. It's like a bloody fortress." She explained. "Is Jimmy really going to try to hurt us man?" Kerrianne squeaked, looking up at her mother nervously.

Hearing that, Chibs shot up from his seat and marched over to stand in front of the teenager. "Hey, no one is ever going to hurt my baby. I'll make sure of that." He reassured her, flashing the small girl a smile before leaning down and kissing the top of her head.

"Can't they stay for a while, they just got here!" Gemma urged, looking over towards Shaun. "The church is nearby right? We can get them back safe." Clay spoke, as if appearing out of nowhere. I never even saw him come into the room. Shaun thought it over briefly before speaking. "You lads armed?" He questioned.

Everyone in the room, except for Fiona and Kerrianne, very quickly pulled a gun out from a hidden spot on their bodies. "Tonight then." Shaun approved, nodding towards Chibs. My husband simply nodded his head in return.

From my spot away from the group, I watched as Chibs, Fiona, and Kerrianne interacted together. Like a normal family. It was like they were never taken away from each other. Like they were never forced apart. It made part of me deep down question if they should really have to stay apart after all this. I couldn't help but questioned everything I knew. Was I keeping him from really being happy? Shouldn't he be with his family?

With my mind clouded over with so many thoughts, I pushed myself away from the wall and made my way down the hallway to the bedroom that our bags were in. They were sitting on the bare bed, with a pile of clean sheets and blankets.

Without a word, I moved the bag into the floor before covering the bed with the sheets and blankets. Once I finished with that, I kicked my boots off, and changed into something to sleep in before crawling into the bed. I stayed like that, clutching to a pillow, until Chibs came into the room. He kicked off his boots and stripped down to his boxers before getting into the bed with me.

There were so many questions running through my mind, so many things that I wanted to say. And yet, as his arms wrapped around me and pulled me into him, I was completely at peace- so I said nothing.

and
"No papa, I haven't quite gotten around to that truth."
